Still very much hoping that they add court reflections. If they pull this off, then this would dramatically change my perception towards the game and where I rank it all-time.

Just want to give credit where it’s due
New patch feels like a late game comeback. Wasn’t looking good early on, but they came through very clutch with the fixes (specifically in MyNBA). Can finally admit that I’m having fun now.. S/O 2k for genuinely improving the experience

Agreed. I have been pretty critical (warranted imo) and was losing hope. While not perfect this update has really changed things for me. I actually had fun playing last night.
Big ups to 2K for this. I appreciate it. -

Well said. Let’s hope for more of the same in the next update(s)Comment

Re: Just want to give credit where it’s due
I still think purely in terms of gameplay, the changes haven't been that significant. The randomness in the game will always make it difficult to truly judge whether there have been actual changes like some people believe.
Edit: I realized an admittedly obvious potential benefit to not listing all changes on patch notes and adjusting with background updates is that the average 2K player has no idea -- so if they make defense less physical or change timing, then there will be less complaints.Last edited by m29a; 12-01-2023, 05:20 PM.Comment

For sure. ProPlay isn’t as groundbreaking as they tried to market it.Comment

Re: Just want to give credit where it’s due
I haven't had a chance to fully dive into the gameplay but it's been great to get in there and properly create the missing courts from MyEras (thanks to being able to use the space bar again and fixing the paint glitch).
Has gameplay chilled on the CPU psychic defense/sliding?Comment

Re: Just want to give credit where it’s due
I think it did more harm than good. The warping, sliding and overall terrible player movement seems much worse than years past and the main change is ProPlay. Probably not coincidental.Comment

Re: Just want to give credit where it’s due
I retract my former comment about the improvements. For some reason the game has resorted to pre-recent update. I had fun for 2 nights or so but it's actually worse now. The sliding and warping is unbelievable. The new animation that plays is when I actually do beat my defender they catch up to me by sliding the length of the key and striping me from behind as I try to lay it up. Happens no less than 6 times a game. Defenders (while playing rookie) are making me pick up my dribble and it's literally as physical as running between the tackles in Madden. Meanwhile the CPU makes my defenders look like pylons and my help D is not existent.
I edited a roster, as I am entirely perplexed, so that everyone has the lowest possible defensive rating and block/contest shot at 0. Start up a game and I get thrown around the court like they are getting paid to hip check me. First layup I go for 3 guys collapse on me like laser guided missiles, breaking all laws of physics and smash me to the ground.
The warping and sliding is beyond awful. Beating a guy is useless. Either he or some other defender will somehow make sure they are in front of you, or at the very least they'll do that behind you strip or the animation where they look like they are karate chopping your forearm from behind.
I still think it's bugged somehow because I've had two separate instances where the game played so, so much better. After this recent patch I was amazed with the improvement. Back to 23. I give up.Comment

Re: Just want to give credit where it’s due
I hear you, but since this is a kind of a "thank you" post ill say this.
Thank you 2k for still being here. I know everyone is like "this game is messed up/buggy/wack" whatever but im old school. Ill keepit all the way real.
In 2004, I woke up and saw that NFL 2K5 and the rest of the games would be $19.99. This was for sure a marketing ploy, but was like "Oh yeah" and enjoyed the roster of games they put out. A few months later, 2k5 was discontinued and all we have now is Madden.
In 2007, I ran to Gamestop during a break in college and picked up College Hoops 2k7 in November with Greg Oden on the cover, ready to go. it was $54 but I was happy as I had my refund check and was able to enjoy the work the team did. Still had some issues, sound/uniforms and gameplay needed support but had fun regardless. In a few months, College Hoops was now gone.
All in all to say, thankful to still have a very decent game that is added throughout the years. Games will always need work but Id rather that than hear "2K loses the license to have the NBA in its games".Comment

Re: Just want to give credit where it’s due
Sliding has always been bad at times and some titles/patches much more so than others, but 24 is absurd. Guys are literally sliding 6-12 feet. There is some type of range that initiates 2 player animations and interactions and it's huuuuge. If you go near a defender who is defending someone else you can see them get suctioned to you as though they didn't even actively want to. Some of them are subtle, like when you go behind a screen and just stop or you kind of hitch/slow down/do an odd animation. By the time it animates or is done - the defender who was working around the screen is in your hip pocket.
The sliding, in my opinion, often times, gets triggered by this huge radius. Other times it's just horrible defensive AI. The default defensive AI is way too good and mirrors your input and it's primary directive is to, at all costs, get in front of the ball handler and contest everything, with extreme prejudice. It succeeds at that directive far, far too often and mostly due to sliding/psychic abilities.Comment

Being positive is looked down within the community mainly, but a few of us aren't going to let it happen. We can be happy around here and appreciate the work
This game will always need work but the work they have done year after year is still incredible.Comment

Re: Just want to give credit where it’s due
Its unfortunate, I think people don't realize certain things because they feel that if you say something positive about the game, "you are a "fanboy" and not someone who has seen games and gaming minimize year after year because of licensing being revoked and other things.

I don't accuse anyone of being anything at all. I'm glad you enjoy the game. Being positive is awesome. Being objective is better as far as the health of the product goes, though. And it isn't just me. Online community is not happy, but I don't say anything about that because I don't play.
Objectively if you think what they do is incredible then I think you have a pretty low bar. Incredible is a pretty huge word. For example, assuming you're telling the truth, I think it's incredible you think what 2K does is incredible. I, personally, don't think a gaming studio like 2K who profit hundreds of millions per year releasing a title that is filled with issues is a nod to their competence, and certainly not incredible.
I mean, how many hundreds of millions do they need to make before they release a game that's just better? I'm serious...I'm legit asking. If you think what they do is incredible what word do you use for small dev teams that make popular and successful games with about 1% of the budget and 2-5 people? I could agree that it's incredible but in the opposing opinion. I think it's incredible that year after year they release a half baked game with ongoing bugs, legacy issues, regressing graphics and, like a moron, I buy it. I think it's incredible they remove good features and people overlook it. I think it's incredible they can charge insane amounts of money/VC for people to be competitive online and people just complain and then pay.
I don't think you're a fanboy. I think you're enjoying the game. I just think we differ on what we want from the game, the value of objectivity and the literal definition of 'incredible'.Comment
