    Is 2k24 better than 2k23?

Against the CPU? This is the most fun I’ve had in years, but it still falls a bit short. The CPU doesn’t utilize enough strategy and about 75% of the coaching adjustments have been removed (despite still being in the pause menu for the third year now… shows 2K’s lack of care for 5v5 modes). Luckily a good slider set has at least made it enjoyable.

PvP? The game is in the worst state I think I’ve ever seen. Nothing but jiggling around ball screens in 5 out as 3 people just stand there, or posting up hoping for a drop step animation. There is literally zero thinking involved. It’s an insult to call it a basketball sim.

I'd give the nod to 24 in that department. There are times where it's still quite bad, but I'd say overall it's better

Movement ist way smoother in 2K23. In 2k24 Animations are too fast and Not as realistic.

Just curious: From what you’ve seen, what sorts of misunderstandings about ProPLAY are leading to misguided expectations?

I ask because, even as just a spectator watching 2K24 gameplay on YouTube, the new animations have looked glitchy and herky-jerky to me, which tracks with comments here about 2K23 being smoother. Definitely seems to me that they took ProPLAY out of the oven too soon.

IMO ProPlay will only TRULY come to life if the game moves to more photorealistic graphics. Which by the signs of 2K24 they’re moving BACKWARDS from.

I just don’t see why the gimmick was needed just yet. Mocap is fine, super smooth in 2K23, was smooth even a decade ago, all it really needed was more players participating i.e more sigs. Eras still uses mocap in 2K24 even.

I can assume the massive resources for proplay may be why graphics regressed, courts don’t reflect, etc. Which isn’t worth the trade off clearly.

It’s been theorized that 2K23 used proplay for jump shots to some degree, as when it launched we had all these new animations that looked really accurate. 2K24 is when they clearly decided to brand it and utilize it across different animations, which makes the game look more canned and movements erratic.

I just feel with 2K they often put effort and attention into areas that don’t need it thus not touching (or even regressing) areas that do need it.

Oh I wasn’t speaking on other’s expectations- though I’ve heard everything from ProPlay effecting graphics to eliminating clipping, haha. People are going to kind of believe what they will in that regard which is cool.

Just speaking on my own experience and expectations really. I’m just happy more and more signature style will continue to be added to the game which is at the forefront of what PP is all about.…a couple visual hiccups aside.

                  24 is the better game.

This is the best dribbling system we've ever had, the way you can change your pace of dribbling and branch into an array of shots always feels smooth. Fastbreaks were fixed & proplay is a great addition and it will only get better.

I also feel as if the CPU is more aggressive when it comes to scoring and in the way they score (think 2k23 on launch day). Defense can be a little stifling at times but I don't have a problem getting to my spots.

I’ve put in hundreds of hours on both games. For reference I only play offline vs the CPU. 2K24 is miles better as far as gameplay goes. Not the 23 was bad at all, it’s just not nearly as good as 24 IMO. Tons more variety from the CPU and the defense is much much better.

It’s crazy how when you go from 2K24 to 2K23, it looks like you’re playing a 5 year NEWER game. 2K23 looks so much better and literally more polished.

Incoming “reflective courts” advertisements to market 2K25. Just watch.

23 is so good. I haven't played 24, so I can't comment, but I find it hard to believe 24 is 'better' enough to warrant the buy + having to make your players again, etc.

I really am surprised at how well 23 plays vs the computer. If the computer has sticky D in 24, that alone would ruin it.

23 felt about as good as any 2k, since maybe like 16 or 14 with being able to get whatever you want out of a triple threat. I love that.
