    Re: Player updates?

Maybe an unpopular opinion, but I think 2K gets too much hate for this every year. Unless it's a star player adopting a drastically different style mid-season (like when Curry ditched those awful NeverEnding Story cornrows shortly into the season a few years ago), 2K only owes us one solid likeness of each player per installment, though to be fair to the complainers, 2K's been coming up pretty short even on that. Chasing every new hairdo by players throughout the season is a waste of resources IMO.

I would say 95% of new scans (that is, mostly rookies and recent rookies) look really good... in terms of their faces / heads. Body proportions (including that of the head to the body) are garbage game-wide, and faces of active players who haven't been scanned in the past 2-3 years are seriously lacking. Unfortunately it's the star experience that is really hit hard by this. Walker Kessler looks fantastic. LeBron James not so much.

2K only focuses on faces too (when it focuses on anything).

2K just decided to be lazy. They dont have competition. Consumers who loves playing basketball video games has no other choice but to buy it. Since 2018, I only buy 2K during huge sale. It is what it is until EA comes back. 2k prioritize the online aspect of the game. They got addtl revenue to that.

Not only player faces and hairstyles, but a lot of body models they use sucks. Maxey lools like a highschool kid.

We can now add a headband to Devin Booker. I guess that’s a small win🤷🏾*♂️

Can't wait for Shaq to finally have a proper 2K7 goatee that he had with the Heat in NBA 2K32 always hiding the good likeness updates behind numerology typical Take-Two

I also love that a whole 350lbs Shaq can have the body frame of his prime Magic/early Lakers days and it takes an entire decade of 2K game cycles to finally change that.

2K only gets “right” whoever the hell they feel like.

Take the Magic for example. Cole Anthony and Markelle Fultz chopped off their braids at the end of last season and they havent even looked at them. At this point basically the entire roster except the Wagner bros looked different this year and 2k didnt bat an eye.

For the life of me I still cannot understand and believe why the F we cannot add/remove headbands on players for like the 7-8th year in a row. That just blows my goddamm mind.

Body types are another freaking issue. To keep using the Magic as examples: Fultz looks 12 years old like a straw. Anthony Black looks like a current Charles Barkley. And Joe Ingles looks like he can be a fitness instructor for God’s sake. Someone pull up 2k’s 1996 Steve Kerr and tell me he doesnt belong in Mr. Olympia.

It’s been a joke and 2k only cares about the effing Park and the extra money they can make with that mode.

What ever happened to that Roster creator guy that reached out to 2K for a job and they hired him and he promised the OS community he’d be on top of $hit like this? He get fired? or adopted the same laziness as the rest of the devs?

                Rant over. Thanks for reading

Razor? Yeah, he's been posting a lot of nothing burgers on official historical updates for the game so far in 2024 (assumingly all his cyberface work is being shifted to 2K25). He gets a lot of bulk work done around this time -> over the summer for the newer game when they celebrate the recently licensed added new players.

But hey, Sasha Pavlovic is in the game. And Jason Kidd got a lighter skin tone to his pre-establishing face.

I was really disappointed in the lack of historic faces this year considering we got lots of new ones each patch in 2k23. We had some guys with the first patch and Sasha and Ledell Eackles in December but nothing past that. Between the lots of historic guys with CAP faces and guys who look really outdated (David Robinson looks really bad), it's not like there's a shortage of work to do.
