I think the new era is going to be a late 90s “New Generation” era around 1998 or so and be focused on young Vince Carter, AI, Kobe and KG.

You know what that makes a ton of sense with VC on the cover but what don't make sense is 2k not showcase new dunks with the best athletic G.O.A.T. dunker on your Hall of Fame cover🤔

I was reading about that season and it provides a great tip off point for an Era. Jordan Era is coming to a close and the Kobe Era hasn’t taken off yet. Plus we could get a proper young J Kidd, Grant Hill and a bunch of other guys 2K already has the rights to. That was also a time when the league jerseys had so much more personality. I always loved those Piston teal jerseys.

To me that 96-98 period is the best NBA period to date. Unprecedented growth and cultural grasp, and you had a bunch of past legends joining with new legends and the greatest draft class perhaps of all time (or up there). Probably the most star studded years ever. Magic even returned, etc. That era still holds the highest ratings in NBA history as well. None of the stars were in their primes except for maybe Shaq (imo Shaq’s prime was late 90’s and a big reason he did better in the 00’s is cause all the elite bigs got old or retire) but it was this middle ground looking period of past and future. Would be an amazing year to add as an era since the league was so different than 91.

So when they said MyPlayer information is coming week of 8/5 they meant end of the week. Probably should have just said that.

One of the frustrating things about 2K's market. EA announces exactly when they are revealing something new. Whether it's College Football, Madden, FIFA, or NHL they always give at least a days notice, usually give a time, and do a good job of making it known.

With 2K, they give a time table of "sometime during the week" and I'm not even sure if they ever provided an update for day and time of the reveal.

I'm sorry but that's bad marketing. I don't follow any of the EA games like I do 2k and I feel like I always know when EA is revealing something. With 2K, it's like I need to be actively searching for when new info is going to drop. It's like they aren't even tying to bring attention to these reveals.

I haven't started watching (mostly cause I hate these game modes, TBH), but the MyCareer/MyPlayer stream is up on YouTube:

I feel like a complainer but this format also sucks. I don't want to watch a livestream to get the basic info of what changes I should expect. Just write it in a blog and let me read it in another tab while I'm at work.

Man, I tuned in for a second and saw one of the hosts talking about a locker code being given away to any viewer who'd watched 90 cumulative minutes of streaming 2K coverage to this point. I'm not familiar with whether that's a common thing in Twitch (prizes for minutes of viewership) but either way, yeesh that's a rough. Can't help but think of how that's conditioning the kids I teach.

They still do the written Courtside Reports if I'm not mistaken. I'm not into streamers and Twitch and YouTubers and stuff but I like this format better because I feel like we're actually seeing more than we typically get to see every year.
