Make it dependent on badges for the passer and finisher but please give us that option back. I am thinking about doing a Spurs rebuild and man it be great to utilize CP3 and Wemby in the two man game.

This is so true for me. They ruined alley oops for me. But it could be an easy fix if the alley oop slider actually worked. It does nothing to make it easier.

I've been pretty successful mostly ignoring the meter and focusing on the animation, pressing the button shortly after the player catches the ball.

Hopefully Da Czar gives us an update before the game releases, whether is an official blog or him just popping on here or Twitter/X to answer questions and break down the AI/Basketball logic aspect of the game.

I haven’t thrown an alley oop since 2K21 or whichever game it was that had the old style and not the stupidly idiotic pointless meter mini game.

I throw about 6 to 8 a game. Once I got the timing down it’s easy. But I don’t use the meter. You just got to hit shoot right before the catch

I throw oops without the meter. Been doing it the entire year. Just hit shoot right as he is catching the ball or right before. Depending on how fast your hands are.

Exactly what I do and it's made it so much easier. I was afraid and reluctant to throw oops before and now I don't even really think about it. When I do miss, it's usually because I was too quick pushing the button. Like you said. If you time it for when they touch the ball you should be good.

Mike Wang is in a difficult situation. He must improve the gameplay without messing it up. 2k24 is the best offline basketball simulator. With new mechanics introduced he has to see what are the effects on other facets. For example the new cutoff system. This system was already in the past and for some reason they removed it. Will the CPU teammates and opponents do this cutoff. How often and will there be blocking fouls or will it be an annoyance to players and be totally nerfed. We shall see.
The game now is fantastic and most people just want more aesthetic improvements and better footplanting along with the expansion of proplay to all players.
I play this game from 2002.In fact it's the only game I play, I'm 47 now. I have seen gameplay mechanics introduced, scrapped and reintroduced and most people don't even know it because they weren't born.
We have to be grateful but If people start seeing copy and paste every year , they will stop buying it. And noone needs to preorder a game before actually see what it is.

It sucks that this will be the only gameplay footage we get before launch.

Does that work on 23 and 24? And there’s a way to turn the alley oop meter off? Not sure I even noticed that, and I have the shot meter always off.

We usually get videos around the week before the game releases. Maybe some off-screen gamescom footage in late August.

I wish they would show more comparison footage between 24 and 25. 9000 new animations, apparently the biggest gameplay improvement in 15 years (I think that's what Mike Wang said). Spend time to really demonstrate these improvements, not just one zoomed in clip of a Brunson step back.

It definitely won’t be. What makes you say that?

Also should be mentioned. There’s a news release schedule on the front page. This is the Gameplay blog. Them not mentioning MyNBA in the blog doesn’t mean nothing is there…..it’d be in August 12ths MyNBA blog.

On the same wavelength as you. Personally enjoyed 2K24 a lot on the gameplay side. I’m still playing it. As far as renewing old mechanics….There have been several different defensive ‘cut off systems’ mentioned over the years but they all operate different. I remember really liking 2K16’s. I don’t think a cut off system was even mentioned in 2K24s blog but I feel it the mechanic was a lot better than 2K23’s, where it was mentioned. I think they just use the term broadly tbh

Like you said though, we’ll have to see how it plays out!

Yes it works in 24. I have had games where I have thrown damn near 20 oops. Yes you can turn off the meter on oops. I did it day 1

I think if you turn off visual cues it will do the job for you. Because, have never had an issue with oops or had an oop menu
