See in my experience, this hasn't been the case. One of the things I love about him is that it doesn't take much for him to take off and slam it home, and when he doesn't do that, he's drawing fouls. And he's got a very easy to use free throw motion, so I never miss a ft with him. I typically find also that while his speed rating isn't through the roof, he's usually quick enough to still get by a lot of players on the break and get to the rim.
Again - this has all just been my experience. I know others on here have said he's better for RTTP than Domination, but for me, he's been my best player by far. Perhaps it's because I run the pick and roll so much, and maybe he's just well-suited for that? To answer Yaari's original question - jyoung may be correct that he's not necessarily worth spending a lot of VC or MT on, but he was in the original cards that I got, and I haven't stopped using him since.
If you set one of your points of emphasis to Pick and Roll Offense, the AI will set some picks on their own. I've found though that I still have more success calling for the picks myself, since I'll know where it's coming from and when, and who I need to pass it to if the d picks MCW up. Not to mention, in domination, you want to score as many points as possible, so when you call for the pick yourself, you won't have to wait for the AI to do it, and in turn, you'll get a shot off quicker.
If you're struggling to score, one of the things that I found that helped me a lot was to make sure your PG, SG, and SF all have at least an 80 rating for speed (the higher the better, but I find that 80 and above is typically enough to get to the rim pretty consistently off the break. J. Hamilton does well for me, and his speed is only an 80). Then, any time you get a defensive rebound, look to throw it as far down the floor to one of them as possible. For me, Jordan Hamilton or Caldwell-Pope (who is ridiculously fast) are usually down the floor a bit. I throw it down to them, then just sprint straight towards the rim. They usually finish it off, but if they don't they usually draw contact and get to the line.
Others will offer other (and probably better) advice than this. But, that's what I love about this mode. Everyone eventually finds what works for them, and it's fun to read what everyone does. I usually gun for 80 points, rarely get there, but still typically get 3 stars by getting 72-76 points on average.
