Re: Guide to Beating Domination and Historic Domination

Assisted dunks are the most efficient scoring method this year with how easy it is to turbo past defenders and get right to the rim in transition.

Special Moments Michael Jordan and Gold John Wall were all I needed to get through both parts of Domination averaging around 900 MT a game.

If you can't score on the fastbreak and get stuck in the halfcourt, just run a pick and roll and hit your big man for an easy assisted dunk.

thanks to Gauntlet, I have an unlimited supply of contracts and injury cards, so I just use OP lineups without worry. I dont shoot many 3's but I can easily replace a couple of guys here with Klay/Ray and bomb them out from deep.

If it works for you, cool. But I wouldn't run super-big with Drummond and Sampson at PF/C. Sampson is respectable from midrange but not good, and Drummond is a terrible shooter.

For Domination purposes, if you're good enough, you can win with anything. But for those who are having difficulties, going small and having a fast and/or stretch 4 helps.

For example with your lineup, I would probably shift Lebron to PF, play Clyde (or Kawhi) at SF. ROTY MJ (or Westbrook or Kawhi) at SG, and consider starting Westbrook over GP at PG. PG is nice and his 3-point shooting is solid but defense is fairly irrelevant and I'd rather have Westbrook's speed, explosiveness, and finishing ability against the CPU in Domination.

              Do yall find coaching matters?

I been using Derrick Fisher and sometimes I swap him out for a gold coach but don't really feel or see a difference in the coach determining my chances of succeeding.

Your team ratings are apparently affected by Coach, though it's uncler precisely what this means in gameplay, if anything. I just assume it matters and use Pop.

yeah, it works for me because I find it helps my case more by getting a ton of rebounds/putbacks and blocks. I dont use my bigs for anything else in domination. (now that the post fade cheese is less effective) if I feel I need more points, I just run plays for Klay/Ray and bomb em out from 3. I get about 850 each outing and I dont out score the cpu by much, maybe 15 or 20 sometimes. My game is strictly predicated on steals, blocks, rebounds, and 3's if needed. I get some fast break points but dont rely on them.

Clyde is great. Does everything well and when he gets hot is hard to stop.

in domination yes. in RTTP or something thats different. I dont use my bigs to score. I have way to much perimeter firepower. so whats wrong with that? in regular domination, once I acquired good players, I ran a starting lineup of Dwight/DeAndre and backed them up with Chandler/Noah and Hibbert/Gobert as alternates. Also killed with Whiteside/Drummond in regular domination. Its lob city all day and the cpu cant get a shot off anywhere near the rim.

in fact, in early seeds of RTTP I usually run two bronze C's. and I dominated like that last year. My PF is usually a fast C. They have secondary positions for a reason. I surround my perimeter threats with athletic defensive bigs that need do nothing more but rebound and play d. I also feel that PF in this game are the worst overall pool of players. You have Anthony Davis....but then the rest of these guys are imbalanced. Either they cant play d or cant rebound.

Do you guys know if you get deducted mt for fouls? How about any extra for margin of victory?

I sometimes foul to try and make up for mt when I feel I didn't get enough in a quarter but later come to find it usually bites me. I feel like all the fouls hurt me more than help unless I only do it for say the last couple mins of one quarter.

No, nothing is deducted for fouls. You just aren't able to gain any MT for defensive accomplishments, such as Blocks, Steals, and Rebounds.

I've done a lot of intentional fouling to get more offensive possessions in crunch time if I need to try to get more FTA to get the bonus. But I didn't do it to get more points. For the latter, I think it's better to just play a super-aggressive double-teaming defense that'll leave someone open for a distance shot early in the shot clock. You don't burn up much time and still have ~50% chance of their shot missing and being able to get +6 Rebound.

Everything was fine until the last normal Domination team (MT All Stars). I can't defend that, they shoot just contested all the time and are doing contact layups etc while I miss open shots and loose the ball like crazy. I went back and played East and West All Stars again and had no issue. It seems my team doesn't defend against the MT All Stars, I even think they are way slower suddenly. Wall and Westbrook definitely feel slower than normal. Any help would be appreciated.

Also how is the Bonus working in MyTeam Domination? It seems random to me. Sometimes the CPU is in the Bonus with 3 Team Fouls in the 1st. That can't be right...

I felt like Historic MT All-Stars was on a totally different level than the Historic East/West, though it's still supposedly Pro Diff as well. Maybe they have sliders changed? Or maybe it's just that it's a better team. Or maybe it's all psychological and I wasn't playing as well.

No easy answer: just have to buckle down, concentrate, minimize mistakes, and maximize opportunities. It's all do-able. Took me until my 6th try to beat Historic MT All-Stars...

I'm still only about halfway thru the current Domination...but it is harder this year than it's been in the past.

I always hate playing 'cheesy' lineups at the start...but once you get to a certain point, you sort of have to.

Starting off, I was running the Warriors playbook with a similar roster. I had TBT Steve Nash, AK-47, TBT David Lee....and it was a struggle.

Going with a new strategy...old school basketball. Bought Mark Aguirre and Terry Cummings...playing Aguirre at the 2 to create mismatches on the block.

Mixed in some role players around them. Beverley at PG, Korver at SF, and Ostertag (I am a sucker for Bronze players).

Lots of post fades and post moves with Aguirre and Cummings. What I also noticed was that the post-ups seem to force double teams and help...which gets me open shots and offensive rebounds (something I wasn't getting before).

I'm gonna roll with the post up game and see how it goes. Luckily I still get decent defense and athleticism/fast breaks with these guys because Aguirre and Cummings are solid as far as that goes.

Not the 'sexiest' lineup...but I'm an older gamer who likes using the guys I saw play as a kid...although I'll be honest, I only remember the later stages of the careers of Aguirre and Cummings.

Does the playbook influence anything besides, well the plays? Does it change the AI behavior are the more active with some specific playbooks if you don't run plays??
