Same here. I only use historic players, and often play with lineups sorted by decades. I also have a euro-lineup and an all big men lineup I use once in a while.

I have not really put much effort into RTTP yet (I'll get to angry if I take it seriously because of all the 0-0 losse), but I guess I have to set on a good lineup at some point, if I want to push for some of the RTTP rewards.

I get what you're saying. In my case, 2k15 was the first game I ever played My Team on, and I didn't start playing the mode until 2k16 was almost out. I was trying to get as much done as possible, and I wasn't playing online, so all I had to work on was challenges and domination.

Originally, my plan for My Team was to build an All-New Jersey/Brooklyn Nets roster since they're my favorite team. However, I found some of the challenges to be so difficult, I felt the need to upgrade the talent on my team as quickly as possible. I didn't have much MT, so I found myself buying the highest rated gold cards that were so much cheaper than the onyx cards that I really wanted. My plan pretty much went out the window.

Things haven't really changed for me in 2k16. I'm still just trying to put together as talented of a team as possible. There's a lot of stuff I wish I could do, but yeah, right now I'm pretty much building the same kind of team as most everybody else. It keeps me busy at least.

Yep....the MyTeam "paper chase" or super-team arms race is BOR-ING. Chasing the RTTP dragon to put together the perfect team in order to out-cheese a bunch of other people trying to do the exact same thing...

Ugh...makes me nauseous just thinking about it.

I see MyTeam is a SANDBOX where I can put teams together and experiment with different team-building strategies and lineups while mixing players from different decades and era's of basketball.

I think 2K needs to do a better job in MyTeam of appealing to people like us.

Especially since many of the gamers that think like us are the OLDER gamers...you know, the ones with jobs and income who can spend money on VC if needed.

The 'Online Challenges' that use Overall team rating are a good start. The PROBLEM is...not many people seem to play them.

Maybe incentivizing these a little more will do that?

Instead of a 1000 MT or 2000 MT 'reward' that you can only win ONCE...why not a 400 or 500 MT reward that you can win every time?

This would be a nice way for 'grinders' to make some MT...while also keeping these games populated with players - which is a problem now.

It would also give 'nerdy' gamers, like us, an option other than chasing RTTP 'dream' that turns out to be mostly a NIGHTMARE for anyone looking to play SIM basketball against like-minded gamers.

This mode could be so much deeper. And I think 2K should try to go deeper by opening up the mode MORE and giving players more OPTIONS...and NOT by trying to be like Madden Ultimate Team and just coming up with more tasks and 'quests' to keep the cheesy gamers busy.

Open up the mode even more...and in the process give the SIM gamers an arena to actually PLAY this mode. Because right now, most SIM gamers sit this mode out. Which is a shame...

You've gone and added things like the "Gauntlet" to appeal to the younger, cheesier gamers...now it's time to add something for the older SIM gamers.

This mode is supposed to be the big revenue-driver...so why not focus on the segment of gamers who can drive revenue....older gamers with jobs, money, and credit cards....not little kids who rely on their parents buying them gift cards at Wal-Mart.

Pretty much hit the nail on the head. HOnestly I got into this mode by playing Madden Ultimate team on Madden 16 360. I just upgraded to Xbox one. I was still playing 2K14 on 360. I had all the rosters and I had 2k15 too but I played 2k14 more because of the lack of rosters for 2k15. I only played 2k15 when I wanted to play online.

So I decided to try my team on 2k16. I've played 2k FOREVER, all the way back to the 1st one on dreamcast but this is the first time I've ever played this mode. I'm usually not into these types of modes because there's way too much grinding. the challanges and stuff are boring but the ones that make you play with a low rated team are cool but like somebody said, its hard to find a match. It literally took me a couple days of searching for 10-15 minutes at a time to find an opponent for the all silver (or 1 silver) challenge.

I usually prefer to play online but I don't like to talk. I rarely use a mic whether I'm playing 2k or call of duty or Gears of War. Most people online period are just dicks, its just the way it is, no matter the age.

I find the mode pretty cool because its new to me but I've got decent cards. I don't play this as much as others because I play a lot of different stuff. I'm up to the 5th seed in RTTP I believe. I prefer that mode because its online and its cool to play against different lineups. Something that really adds to the mode is the customization though. I'm NOT a customize guy. I usually don't care about any of that stuff in any game but in this, I finally just got around to making my arena and my uniform's and stuff and I think that adds a LOT to the mode. Half the time, I'm just curious to see what kind of arena we'll be playing in or what my opponent thinks of mine.

The best card I have is the same 89 rated Gold Westbrook everybody else seems to have. I think I pulled it out of a pack. I was buying packs like everyone else because, well its fun. Its the same reason I used to love collecting cards and buying and opening packs, rather than going to the card store and buying the card I want, it was the randomness and fun of opening a pack and hoping I get a good card. Thats why I play this mode. I want the best cards but I don't really want to just earn a bunch of mut and go buy all the best cards.

Like, when I watch dudes on Twitch, they have like 2 billion MUT and they're sitting here going back and forth in the auction from card to card, like hmmm...who should I get? Its like WTF, who cares? Just BUY THEM ALL.

Ehh...I dunno...I kind've wish everyones rewards were random, like call of duty but it would work better here. Then everyone is guaranteed pretty much to have a different lineup. There's so many good players in NBA history, you'll never run into the same lineup. Now right now while I'm still 5 seed, I still see different lineups. One time, my opponent had Westbrook and Deandre Jordan just like me.

But I have been buying more players from the auction, just getting good Gold cards to help me when I reach a higher seed on rttp. I haven't played any of the challenges far enough to earn any amethyst cards or anything like that.

My best 5 right now would be Westbrook-89, Jimmy Butler- 86, Rudy Gay - 85, Chris Bosh and Deandre Jordan. Ive seen plenty other people with the Westbrook and Jordan. Haven't seen many people using Butler and Gay or Bosh. At least not yet.

But I always run out of contracts and I end up using a lot of my silver players. Caron Butler is really good, Rubio, Shareef Abdur Rahim, Gobert. These players play like Gold players and they have multiple badges.

I have fun with the mode overall. I do think guantlet is pretty bad when you get completed outmatched by the randomness. I felt bad for a guy I played yesterday. I had Gordon Hayward - 85 Gold, and the cpu gave me ame Harden and some other dude and he had like 3 scrubs, lol...He played the entire game and I really didn't beat him as bad as I could because he didn't quit. You know how guantlet is, you got quicker guys, you can make it a track meet. I just walked it up the court usually when it was like 9-1 and almost ran like a regular offense and let every guy touch it.

They need to embrace the history of the NBA in this mode, they should do more to highlight historic players and moments and get it right. The first MyTeam had Magic, Bird, Jordan as rewards for RTTP so that used to be the idea. The historic playoff series challenges this year don't mean anything to someone trying to complete them. They need shorter challenges that focus on certain situations and performances, like they had for MJ when he was on the cover. Even bring back trivia before games, answer it right and earn some easy MT. This should be the funnest mode to create but they don't have a passion for it.

The idea about smaller rewards after every challenge is interesting. Maybe add a little a VC to that as well, because when I'm grinding away at nothing but My Team, the only VC I ever have comes from the 2K app, which isn't very much. I rarely get to experience the fun that comes with opening packs, and I know firsthand what happens when you use MT on packs.

I would actually have some incentive to replay the often difficult challenges if I were being rewarded each time, and the game would stay fun if I were opening more packs.

I'm content for the most part as long as I'm keeping busy. I go with the flow. My main concerns should be solved (at least for a while) if I bite the bullet and start playing online. I could get over the MT that I lost because I would know there are many more opportunities available.

The flaws of the game don't really bother me much. Like the domination modes - I remember breathing a sigh of relief when I played my first challenge after finishing historic domination, and saying, "Finally, I can play real basketball again!" The gimmicky, assist-to-post fade cheese wasn't exactly the most fun I've ever had playing a video game, but I got my Amethyst Kidd and Pippen, and my 198 star trophy, so I'm happy.
