I remember before these packs amethyst players were going for no less than 800k. Now you can get a Lebron for 170k.

I am really inclined to sell my amethyst Mourning. He is a good center but there are better ones but i am hoping for a price increase once the packs are gone from the market. The problem is, i am afraid the amethyst players will also go up. I want to try triangle offense with Steph and Lebron in RTTP since i am really good with it.

If I pulled Mourning from pack I'd keep him. I still will likely get him before packs expire. Its the best version of him, also Heat version will be good for Heat challenge. (I already have Heat Shaq) The thing is.....as you say, there are better, but its that Purple border that adds artificial value to these cards. 1 pt different between him and Dikembe but 7x price for Alonzo.

Also you guys think there's any credence to the notion that opening individual packs give's better odds then opening boxes? What hs been your personal experience?

I opened like 4 boxes. got 2 Eatons and 2 Moncriefs. also got a Gasol.
I opened about 5 individual packs, got Ben Wallace. cant really say one way or the other, I think its the same and luck of the draw.

Alright, so you guys convinced me. Instead of buying DPOY Payton I just bought a mostly-badged regular one for just 39k.

Anyways, my next question is, what amethyst should I go for next? LBJ, Garnett, or Mourning? Would love all input on this matter!

Regarding whether single packs have different odds than boxes (or MT vs. VC), nobody is going to experiment in a scientifically rigorous way. Most people who make assertions have extremely limited anecdotal experience. I.e. they opened 2 or 3 boxes and a dozen packs. Statistically unmeaningful.

If you wanted to really test it, you'd need to open many times that, would need to simultaneously do openings on two different machines/accounts, at the same time. And should do it multiple times throughout a day, across several days.

you made a good choice with Historic Payton and saved some coin as well.

LBJ definitely next because he isnt that expensive given how he can impact a game. Mourning however is about half the price of both of them so you cant go wrong there if you just want a purple border. if you want someone as good as Mourning for 1/5 the price, DPOY Mutombo...if you dont have him already.

sn: they put Kawhi and Rodman in packs yesterday, when I got home AH had a bunch of them. I sniped them both so I got em for good deals for the day. paid 12,800 for both total.

I don't know if there is a difference but I have never pulled an amethyst in a box and I've opened a lot of boxes. I don't think I've pulled an amethyst since the opening month though. I say I don't think because I can't remember if I bought Cousy or pulled him in a pack.

Is DPOY Kawhi worth getting him over the current Kawhi? I see his fadeaway and help defense is better, but is it worth an extra 13k?

He might come down in price, but I would say so. Best Kawhi in the game, other than the Dynamic (which could potentially drop below this DPOY). Definitely best Gold Kawhi and one of the best Gold wings in the game. 13K MT will pale in comparison to what you'll spend on Badges for this card if you have it in heavy rotation.

I sniped one really cheap (1,800), but if I had to, I'd pay 20K for it.

Sell it!, get a better one like Admiral or Dream.


I like the drop in prices I already bought harden and AD, and have enough MT to buy Lebron or Steph.

great snipe. I got mine for 10k and very happy with that snipe. you can catch him nights and get him for 15k or less. I waiting til I saw one in the 10k range. He is a slight upgrade over an already great card. well worth the price.

Opened 3 boxes and was about to give up after getting Mostly garbage silvers when on the last pulls of the box I got a DPOTY Khawi and a KD (thank the 2k gods for gracing me with my first amethyst from a pack). So I started feeling it for a min and opened another box for 4 straight pulls I got players who didn't even crack 60 ovr I didn't even know there were this many in the game and then I got a few very very borderline silvers and then the pack ended with 3 dupe wallaces who I've recently found out is t worth to much on the action block
