Has anyone actually played with Diamond Parker? I've yet to see any reviews of whether people are pleased with him or not. I'm gunning for him when I complete historic domination, but now you got me thinking I might have to pick up Harper instead.

Definitely try Harper before you complete historic domination. He's impressed me more than any emerald or sapphire PG that I've tried. The gap between him and my next favorite PG that I've used (Robert Pack) is huge because Pack is smaller, can't shoot, and can't play D anywhere nearly as well.Comment

Once you go Harper you'll never pick Parker.

Re: Don't pass on Jerry Lucas after beating Historic domination...
I think this Shaq abusing Big Ben thing is a little overblown because it's not like there is some other player out there that is stopping Shaq. A skilled Shaq user will destroy any opposing center this year. So you have found 1 player who Ben can't guard. There are tons of guys who Jerry Lucas can't guard. Basically any point forward type of player like Lebron or KD will abuse him. If someone runs twin towers, that big guy will abuse him. If you're worried about not being able to stop people, it's not like Lucas will help you at all in that department.
Pekovic has 98 strength, which is one rating below Shaq's 99 strength.
Shaq would still have a big size advantage though at 7'1" 325 lbs. versus 6'11" 290 lbs.
And Ben Wallace isn't useless on offense. If you're the type of guy that thinks he can off-ball D and user on his center, then the guy with Wallace can put you in a pick and roll and just like that Big Ben is effective. Sure Lucas is more useful on offense because he can do more things, but the fact that Big Ben can guard people and Lucas can't is more important to some of us.
If I was picking a point guard I would take Steve Francis over Tony Parker just for Francis' dunking ability because that's always been such a huge advantage for slashers in 2K games. But I'm cool with Derek Harper at starting PG for now until some better cards come out. I haven't decided on a backup PG yet though.Last edited by jyoung; 10-10-2016, 02:13 AM.Comment

Re: Don't pass on Jerry Lucas after beating Historic domination...
Another strategy may be to just go 5 out and punish him at the other end. Be that dude who puts Lebron at the 5 and play Shaq off the floor that way. If you can play efficient offense, you might come out ahead. At the other end just switch to shaq's defender and spam steal to either steal the ball or send Shaq to the line.My Team

I'm on the Harper train as well. Been using him quite a bit, my favourite PG at the moment, too. Since I'm planning on completing the Historic Hornets, I'm taking Ben Wallace, no doubt. Grandma is much better than Jerry Lucas.Comment

Yep Grandma is incredible. I probably go with Parker, because I feel stacked with Alonzo and Shaq. Lucas is no option for me aswell having Grandma/Bosh/Hayes/Shawn/Walker/Rodman etc. lol
I definitely need a Point Guard and that Parker looks pretty amazing.
Anyone have him? Would love to get a feedback.
He is also one of the few who can wear that 2 7 Soaring 3PT Shoe, which probably boost his open 3 to 99Baron Peja Melo Issel Mutombo

Re: Don't pass on Jerry Lucas after beating Historic domination...
I picked Parker so here's my quick review for the thread. To start, he's fast. Turns the corner well, stays in front of his man on defense, great in the open floor. Some people complain about his dribble animations but they haven't been issues for me (or maybe he's just so quick that it doesn't matter). Hits open jumpers (long 2s, 3s) at a high rate both off the dribble and on a catch and shoot. Very easy jumper animation. Not so great at contested jumpers but I haven't been able to hit contested jumpers with anyone regularly in this game. Hits contested layups at a solid rate. He's only dunked once for me in all the games so don't expect him to dunk even in the open floor. Fantastic as a pick and roll handler. I get a lot of steals with him (gave him pick pocket). He's a good perimeter defender but if your guy gets inside he's too small to effectively contest layups or dunks.
I'm really glad that I chose him and I think he'll be on my team for a long time. I'm also playing as a free player so I think my upgrade possibilities won't be as numerous as others on this board.Comment

Re: Don't pass on Jerry Lucas after beating Historic domination...
Did a bunch of wheeling and dealing last night and grabbed Harper because PG was the weakest position on my team. Probably overpaid a little bit as it was late at night and I just didn't feel like waiting to try him out. Played one game with Harper and he seems very solid, not sure if that will still dissuade me from getting TP but I have about 15 more historic domination games left to decide.Comment

No I'm talking about Sapphire Harp. I wheeled and dealed to complete the Mavs collection last night. Didn't pay over 1.2k for any player except the last 2, dropped 2k on Seth Curry and Jonathan Gibson. Those guys are definitely easy to snipe for much cheaper, but they were the last 2 i needed and really wanted to try out Harp. Was my last 4k of MT too.
Side note, now that I have him I can't help but hear everytime his name is said 'Derek Hahrpah, the hardest hitting point guard in da league!'

Re: Don't pass on Jerry Lucas after beating Historic domination...
While I don't doubt that a skilled Shaq user can work Ben in the paint, one possession resulting in a standing dunk doesn't really say much to me. For example, it looks like the Ben user didn't fight the post-up backdown. Even with the size and Strength disparity, Shaq shouldn't be able to back down Ben that quickly and if Shaq is just being contained, in general, that's okay.
Especially if, in the fast break, Wallace is beating Shaq down the court enough that he's generating more extra points with speed than he's giving up to Shaq through size. And if Shaq needs to turbo back up the court constantly, he's not going to be on the court for very long. So badged out with Bruiser and running a lot, Wallace also defend's Shaq's overall impact on a game through fatigue.
The appealing thing about Ben is that, in his reward bracket, he's the one player I could imagine having a place on a lineup at the end of the season. Maybe they buff Bill Russell like crazy, but he's not going to be a better Shaq defender anyway.
From the looks of it, Ben can legit guard every position on the court, even really quick point guards. With his 95 Strength with 98 Shot Contest, 97 Shot Block, and 94 Lat Quickness is just an insane combination for a long wingspan guy who is 6'9". Especially when you factor in his base Speed/Accel and that his D IQ Ratings are basically perfect.
On Offense, I wouldn't look to post him up, but running P&R looks nice with him, given his physicals and 85 Driving Dunk, 90 Contact Dunk.
Someone who is so versatile and overwhelming on defense can always justify an end-of-bench spot on a lineup, even if that lineup is stacked with Diamonds.Comment
