Has anyone used Amethyst Durant at the 4?

I've picked him up after gutting my team after a string of very frustrating performances and am struggling to pick up a PF I like. I had diamond Millsap and he did great in historic domination but seems very ineffective in MT Online play.

Durant is horrible at post defense. He'll get post-spinned or drop-stepped every time.

If you're looking for a good non-expensive PF, try Kenyon Martin. He's fantastic. Wes Unseld is another great choice at the 4, as is Rodman. But for me Kenyon starts over both of them, he's got A+ rebounding & post defense, good speed, fantastic dunking and a wet release from three. He's literally all you need in a PF.

Thanks for the advice. I'll try to snipe him over the next couple of days and give him a whirl!

Regretting it now but hopefully the rebuild will work out ok in the end.

This is it for me. I have about 17k MT left and I'll just save until I reach an amount of a guy I want. Im thinking someone in the 40k-50k range max.

Anyway I got suckered into buying 10.00 worth of VC it was some special for only 3 hours at half off the 75k VC so I had to bite.

Pulled 2 Diamonds out of the playoff packs. Jason Terry and LaMarcus Aldridge.

This Terry is cheese.

Someone put 38 points on me with 96 Ovr Derozan..... beat me by 32 points.

Now I'm not a good player but the Derozan & Lowry dynamic duo destroyed me and my Amethyst squad.

Very enjoyable getting beat for once as the way he played was great. Even with my best wing defender (Marion) on Derozan he was simply unstoppable.

Had a change around and bought some MT to pimp my team.

thats my lineup for the last weeks of 2K17.

all in all it was a fun year, I just hope we get rid of some issues like the disconnect glitch giving random loses for the opponent quitting...

Momentum swings are real, but you can fight them. I would rather like to see other crucial game failures being fixed in September.

Didn't even bother with Diamond Curry, just went with the Amethyst version instead.

Putting Gasol in my starting lineup was damn near one of the best things that I ever did. I was mostly a small ball player but now that they boosted the 3-point ratings for a lot of the top-tier centers in the game it allows me to run a legit twin towers lineup without having to sacrifice spacing.

I love that Draymond Green card but you can't replace height. Gasol is 7'1" and is a damn force in this game. It's funny though, I prefer having Gasol at PF and Duncan at the 5 on offense to take advantage of Gasol's 90 3PT rating but on defense I prefer it the opposite way with Gasol using his length to lock down the paint. I just start him at the 4 because it's easier to switch matchups on defense.

I basically abuse every small ball 4 with Gasol in the post. I see people try to play Diamond Giannis or Diamond LeBron at the 4 and he just abuses them? Try to bring a double team? Gasol has great passing ratings and I have shooting every where. Want to switch matchups and put your center on Gasol? OK, now Duncan will abuse your Power Forward instead LMAO.

And the crazy part is he really can't get taken advantage on defense by the quicker 4s. His lateral quickness and on ball defense is good enough to stick with everyone on the perimeter. And even if he gets beat he's long enough to recover.

His low-speed ratings scared me away from the card at first but it really hasn't been a problem. I probably won't even bother running small-ball 4s anymore next year. I was against the idea of giving these old-school centers like *Hakeem and D-Rob 3 point-shots but the more I think about it the more I like the idea of giving them decent standing shot ratings but very low contested and moving 3 point ratings. Just a way to keep them sort of relevant in the new era of small-ball and space the floor basketball. Just my opinion of course.

*This is only for centers that can hit the mid-ranger though. I think players like Shaq shouldn't be able to hit threes.

I'm pretty trash at MyTeam... can't help but lose games but can't put my finger on it.

- Keeping to Ruby squad coz Ima never pay to play and the ratings all seem useable in the way I wanna use the players.

Biggest issue I face is turnovers, especially from steal spammers when trying to set up a play/PnR and bricking 3 pointers - hence why I now have D Russell at PG (used to play Harden Ruby)

Main gameplan is use Bron to break down the D and kick it out
and when the bench is in, just get it to the paint.

I am also hampered by only really using players that I like in real life but they're all well rated enough for me to be more competitive than I feel I am.

I'm pretty good on PNO.

You have to be really, REALLY careful with the ball. There's just no way around it. On Pro Difficulty, one can barely even post up without being stripped. On All-Star, steals are still too easy and even if they don't come in high numbers, it's far too easy to force dribble pick-ups.

I'm pretty much never face-up with the ball for more than a split second. Constantly in post-up position to guard the ball. And if for a longer stretch, such as finding and calling a play, I'll walk back and forth while making sure my body is between defender and the ball.

That's the only way to really be safe...be moving and keep body in between.

Even on All-Star and even when in post-up, defenders can too easily force pickups or even poke the ball loose. Still too easy to get that animation where they force pick-up and then knock the ball in the air with a second swipe, before the first pick-up-ball animation is even done.

I try and post up but as u say it still gets ripped or forced into a pickup. i also try and do behind the back rhythm dribbles but they still get forced into pickups.

a lot of people on MyTeam are using Ruby Patrick Beverly because of how effective he is at stealing the ball.. which makes the mode generally frustrating to play.

Personally the fixing of steal spamming is one of the most important things 2k addresses for 18, makes modes like MyTeam less fun purely because of an annoying and effective strategy implemented by players.

Trying to get past half court is really difficult too, as people just harass you and force you into pickups as soon as you get past half court, sometimes even forcing a backcourt violation.

Thought having super high ball handling would help but it seldom does.

Blew my old team up completely and went for a twin towers approach to work on my post game rather than 3 pointers/space the floor.
