It's hard for me to justify spending $100 almost 6 months into the game's cycle, especially on MyTeam. What will you do when they drop pink diamonds in a month or two? That $100 will translate to $20. Then MJ in 1-2 months after that. It will be worth $5. Your answer is sell, but then 2k18 is only 2-3 months away anyways sooooooo.

So why play this mode at all? Once 2k18 comes out its automatically dead8month's later...dont play at all or wait till june once all the cards are released?

Looks like they added a 3-ball to D-Rose at the expense of his defense. His 95 overall MVP card has a 78 trey but way better defensive stats. I am sure my Penny can lock him up and drop 20+

What will I do when they drop Pink Diamonds? I'll have saved a ton of MT pts and I'll have some serious but fun decisions to make. I want an MJ when it's released and that box topper with the two Rose's sets me up to gain a lot.

Play 2K almost every day or binge after my work schedule opens up. I don't buy many other video games so I spend extra on 2K. My my team has like 7 diamond players already. Have pulled 2 Tmacs, 1 Kidd, 2 Roses, 1 Butler, and a ****load of Amy's. I'm having a great time with this mode. I'm not getting caught up in the negatives.

I feel the same way about food! It's hard to justify spending money on good food (steak, ice cream, beer). Did you know that food looses it's value after you eat it? And a lot of food looses it's value if it just sits there for too long! And even if I do eat it I'm only enjoying it for a few minutes then the meal is over. And then I have to eat again in just a few hours.

I've switched to an all gruel diet that gives me all my daily nutrition in the form of a grey paste. It's super cheap so I have extra money to spend on more important things. And I don't have to worry about cooking so I have extra time to go onto cooking message board communities and try to suck the joy out of everything they love about food.

Sorry to get us off-topic, I know I shouldn't try to drive this conversation away from the new theme packs and on to my personal opinions about how others should spend their money but I just caught up in the moment.

Seriously why are you on a forum about a mode that you don't enjoy? You bring negativity to every thread you post in. We all know the game mode is far from perfect but some ppl enjoying playing it and don't mind spending cash on it.

Thanks to you and swish. I didn't want to turn this into something else. MyTeam is what I look forward to most every year in video games. My fav mode of my fave game.

The day the Diamond Butler came out, I pulled it. I knew I could sell it right away and get the most it would ever sell for and buy it back a few days later for a fraction of what it sold for. But I kept it. He's still my starting SG.

I buy VC because I enjoy opening packs and getting pulls. Sometimes I sell them, sometimes I keep them. I don't look at what I could have sold someone for and feel bad. I keep guys I like and sell ones that I don't.

This game is just like life. Right now, it's right now and one day, it'll be over and everything you stressed over will be pointless. Might as well enjoy what you enjoy today.

I'll give a brief Jason Kidd review. I got him for 95,000 MT on PS4 but saw him going for 90,000 later in the night. He is just what I was looking for in a PG. Only got to use him in 2 MTO games (both quit around half time) and 2 solos. He's extremely quick on both ends. He was going under screens and still recovering to close out on shooters. Always stayed in front of his guy. He also knocked the ball away ~3 times off of help reach ins where the computer controlled it. If his man is in the area of the ball handler Kidd just takes a step over and rips it. He's one of the better perimeter defenders I've used. Reminded me some of MRR.

Offensively, he's great in my system but may not work for everyone. Super quick off screens and creates a ton of space with his ball handling. I didn't have any issues with layup animations but I'll admit I also haven't had opportunities in traffic, in general he's just beaten his guy to the paint so it's an easy 2. His shot is slow, it's not a hard shot, just slow. Moving shots still come off fast but his set shot doesn't release quickly. Might be a problem for some but the PG just needs to shoot when he's open on my team so it works fine.

For me, this is an end game player (there will be better PGs but this is everything I'm looking for). Reminds me of Payton of years past. I highly recommend if you like a defender/distributor type of PG. Probably not the best fit if you have your PG look to score first. Looking forward to playing more games with him.

This is a nice write-up and I totally agree on some of the more subtle distinctions that AsYouSwish is pointing out...

Kidd is fast and crisp. I felt the same about his Rookie Emerald card and this one is a few ticks faster in each relevant category.

Yes, his shot is still on the slow side. Not painfully slow, but notably slow. Not hard to time, though, and I found I do better by gauging by his animation, not shot meter. And, like AYS, notes, his moving animations are NOT slow. So he can perform drifting jumpshots, pull-ups, and such, with efficiency.

I think the comparison to MRR is apt. Similar size and strength, and very similar defensive ratings. Kidd is basically like an even faster MRR who can shoot with great accuracy if left open...who doesn't dunk...but will nail free throws...and has post game.

I think one thing to keep in mind is Kidd's post ratings. Obviously, he's not going to be like a Magic or Oscar, or even a Payton, in the post. But he's very similar to Penny in Post Control/Hook/Fade. He feels right, when posting up. And with 70 Strength, the list of PG's stronger than him is very short.

I wouldn't look to post up with him in a traditional way, of course. But the threat of spin-outs to moving jumpers while looking out for cutters...it's a nice option. And, animation, wise, he operates with his back to the basket smoothly and responsively (Post Control + Strength, I assume).

My dilemma is where his price is headed (and on PC, specifically). At the moment, as in right now, I think I could sell him for a very small profit. And I think that's probably prudent, as I expect his price to go down during this week.

Lol, you don't need the best card to win the game. You realize the line ups you see on this forum are less than 1% of all MyTeam players.

It just seems like you have to keep dropping wads of cash to get that new diamond T-Mac, MJ, Shaq, etc.

Why get sucked into all of that every year? This year it seems like it would cost too much to have the newest cards.

I enjoy MT. My post wasn't all that negative. I just said I find it hard to justify dropping $100 at this stage of the game. Most of you should have realized by now how MyTeam works this year (and years to come because this is the new formula and it's made Take2's stock double in the last year) and it is too costly to keep upgrading your team with the new best players every week or two.

I hate what MyTeam and 2k is becoming though. Too much pay to play/pay to win.

Do NOT tell me you have NEVER been able to NOT play a game due to running out of contracts and MT. If I don't say something about it and you guys keep spending like crazy then 2k will continue to screw over guys like me who choose not to open a box every time I need to refill my MT tank/wallet/account...whatever. I bought the game already and spent tons of money on it. Why can't I just use my team when I want? These contracts are silly. I should not be forced to buy MT (or use the AH, I don't have fun there) to play with the team I bought already in a game I paid for.

Dang, picked up Webber for 3950 and he's a beast! His post fade is nice and every difficult shot goes in. And strong and fast too. Great pickup for cheap.

Saw Chauncey for pretty cheap this morning so I thought I'd at least give him a try as my starting PG. I ended up selling him back after 3 games. I could not get the timing down for his release. He also feels kinda sluggish with his dribble animations and I gave him a speed shoe too.

On defense he was great though but there are way cheaper options out there if you want a specialist PG defender. Once I get pink diamond Duncan, then maybe I'll pick him back up if he's going for the low. Other than that though, I don't really recommend him. If you're balling though, then by all means pick him up but if you're on a budget, there are some better options out there.
