I'm playing LUT, and it feels like playing that first year of MyTeam - the framework is there, but it's not fleshed out like it ended up being in later years. It feels like next years LUT is going to be insane (especially when you look at what EA does for UTs in their other games). This one is a lot of fun though. With LUT, it seems to be more about the gameplay than the constant upgrades. And there's so much to do. For each team, there's a fantasy challenge where you play each of the other teams in the division to get that franchise's "hero" card. Then when you finish the division, you get the divisional hero. Then you get the conference heroes, and then the NBA heroes. Domination is like 66 games, while this is over twice as many. The rewards are actually really good, too.

So I'm having fun with a game that feels more like NBA basketball (dribble moves have an effect on the CPU and getting leverage and an angle lets you blow by the CPU rather than having some stupid bump animation slow you down) and I haven't spent a ton of money ($40 total). It's nice because unlike with MyTeam last year, I haven't spent a fortune on a team that I don't end up using because the online game is AIDS and there's nothing left to do offline.

I miss the historic teams and players and the camaraderie of the community. The LUT AH doesn't have a ton on it - partially because there isn't a lot of content released yet (the devs are based in Florida and Irma wreaked havoc on their studios and whatnot) and partially because I guess there aren't a lot of people playing it yet.

Anyway, question for you guys - did 2k add any additional offline content? Last year there was Domination, Historic and then weekly and moments challenges.

2K added 33 more domination games (vs 30 all time teams and then 3 all star versions of those teams)

2K also added 30 schedule games for each team totaling 900 offline challenge style games.

      Weekly challenges are the same.

Damn. Well, that beats Live. For now, anyway.

Yeah. There's a lot more. There's a third tier of Domination with All-Time teams for each franchise. Supposedly they give out MT rewards, like...3000+ MT.

There's also "Schedule Challenges" now, in which you play a team's "Schedule." But it's not a simulation of their schedule. It's a series of something like 30 challenges. Modest rewards and increasingly stiff challenge/lower max squad for yourself, and also higher requirement for owning X players from the franchise.

For what it's worth, movement is more fluid and there's less dramatic bumping and also less vacuum effect. You can beat the CPU off the dribble much more easily now, with the right mismatch. I.e. if you have a strong driver against a relatively weak defender, you don't need an entirely open lane. You get a bit of an angle and then you're driving and defender is riding your hip and if you're better, you can get just enough daylight at the rim. Or you may end up "rounding the corner" and get clean past. (Or he might ride you all the way through with strong contest, if a better defender.)

Post is also much more fluid. Way easier to chain from move to move. Last year, I basically could never do two fakes into a third move. Now it's pretty easy.

Steal spam is basically gone. They also took away that initial tipoff cheese. Also nerfed auto contest.

There's a lot of good improvement. Sizeable. You should just play 2K18 if you want to play best fantasy team mode.

Damn, that does seem like a lot of improvement. Oh well, I'm not going back. They don't deserve my money. I'm having a blast with Live anyway.

Re: Why I'm done with MyTeam/Massive MT Giveaway

Hey all! It's been awhile. I've been catching up on what's been going on in the world of MyTeam...and wow am I glad I stuck to my word in quitting the mode. It sounds and looks like Supermax gameplay is garbage, the Supermax points system is totally unexplained, the "draft" mode was poorly executed, the cards are somehow even more juiced than last year at this point, and they've found a way to commodify the dreaded locker codes by putting those limited release OP cards into packs (which they apparently botched with this PD Melo release).

I can't lie, I had a great time playing MyTeam last year and I do miss the community aspect of playing the mode. However, my competitive nature got the best of me and MyTeam is perfectly designed to take advantage of that by continuously dropping slightly improved cards that you've either got to spend significant time or money to acquire. That's on top of the fact that 2K is the most money-hungry company I've ever encountered and their "support" is borderline criminal in how they ignore or flat-out lie about issues with the game while continuing to collect our money. Godspeed to those who are sticking with it. I'm glad I didn't.

Re: Why I'm done with MyTeam/Massive MT Giveaway

                Yep I have quit too.

I've been a 2k gamer since the days Ben Wallace was on the cover back in the 00's. I'm now considering my options as this years release if by far the most horrendous game in terms of actual gameplay and the push to get their customers to "Pay to play".

This weeks weekly challenges are (I get it) to try and weasel out some of the precious contracts from its customers in the hope they throw more VC their way to continue playing MY Team mode. Now that might seem fine for the people willing to do that but for people like myself who spent $139AU on the pre order only to receive the crappy Bronze and Silver filled weekly pack bonus and the Shaq content for My Player (Which disappeared when i deleted my original player) I don't think I should be at the point where I'm out of decent enough cards to face these (Ungettable cards) due to limited MT.

I seriously think they need to reconsider what their are trying to do here or else MY Team and 2k may fall. Trying to get extra cash out of its customers is not good business especially when you exploit the gameplay with unattainable MT CPU cards, play around with the the "Pro" sliders. I mean come on this weeks challenges are not "Pro" challenges. It might for the guys who have diamond squads etc (Who pay to play)...

If I could take the game back for a refund I would in a heartbeat.

                DISAPPOINTING 2k....

                From a once loyal fan.

That suspicion doesn't make sense to me. Even if you fail, it's very easy to gain enough MT during the game to more than pay for whatever your contract costs are.

Nor are the games especially difficult. I think I beat the Weeklies with teams of Golds surrounding Amethyst Hakeem. A bench of Bronze, and some Silver.

If anything, these are meant to *give* MT to the player base.

Unless you load your team almost entirely with Diamonds and Amethysts, then one is usually making MT with the game MT bonuses, and then of course the bounty is a big sum of profit.

You're probably right on the contracts with the amount you earn in game etc..

But I'm a casual gamer. Play when I can. My skill level is not great compared to yours by the sounds of it..but I've played enough 2k MyTeam over the years to know that this week's challenges are pure crap. The unattainable players we go up against is enough of a red flag for me, sliders are not on pro and the animations in game are a giveaway.

I actually took SIX videos of in game glitches in the ONE SINGLE game on the East game where the gameplay is so horrendous and bias its a joke.

I'll give you one example -
I ran a break with my Ruby Kobe only to be blocked by Lebron whose arm magically goes through the steel framed hoop and blocks the ball off the backboard... (If anyone knows how to post vids on here straight from HD please let me know)

                        2K is killing this mode...

Just look at how DEAD this Operation Sports forum is...in past years this forum was rolling with posts and content about MyTeam.

Not much here but complaints this year.

The entire mode has turned into something that doesnt even resemble basketball. 2K should actually watch an average SuperMax game.

                        OMFG....it's atrocious.

They keep releasing more and more overpowered cards...at ridiculously low prices in the AH.

Every team you play in SuperMax is 10 unstoppable cheeser cards...heck some of these people are so DUMB they eat up contracts on Diamond and Amethyst cards in spots 11,12, and 13...cards that don't even get on the court. I bet 2K loves that...

Not that most of these children and teeny boppers spent a dime on VC...the ones abusing it the most are getting it by glitching. But....2K loves that too because it almost forces other gamers to spend real money on VC to level the playing field.

MyTeam without a realistic salary cap option for players like myself and others like me is UNPLAYABLE without it.

I don't want a team of unstoppable cheeser cards that dunk everything, make every three, and somehow block every shot taken within a 10 foot radius.

I don't want to play with or against a Karl Malone card that regularly LACES 3's every game.

Note to 2K - Malone played 19 seasons in the NBA...and made 85 3's total. Heck...he only attempted 310 in his career. I shouldn't have 9 year olds swishing three or four 3s a game with him against me!
