There are people doing open myteam leagues/tourneys with real hard caps. So if you are into that look out for it.

I really feel like this game will only improve when the Moments card model is abolished. Every player in MyTeam should be rated equivalent to their rating on the regular rosters, period, end of story. These can fluctuate up and down during the season, that's great. Heck, they can even go up temporarily based on a run of good play (sort of like The Show's Inside Edge), but these incremental changes in rating are just plain dumb and serve no purpose other than to flood the market with cards.

Now, that having been said, there is definitely still room for historic cards herein. A rookie LeBron with crazier athleticism and a less refined skill set would be welcomed, an MVP LeBron with the dude playing at his absolute peak would be great too, but having 4 different cards for a guy like Kuzma, who's having a great season but is by no means worthy of a rating even with the likes of Hakeem, is insane. Having FEWER cards and card options for current players would, I think, actually be better than starting out with neutered versions of stars so that you can release a flashy pink diamond later in the year. It'd balance the game so much better, imo.

I just started playing this year after taking last year off and spending most of my time this year in mycareer, I was surprised how easy it was to build up a decent squad. Having fun with it so far

Re: Friends, what is your take on MyTeam for 2k19 compared to 18?

I cannot compare it to 2k18 because I never did play the 2k18 myteam to be honest.

I did play FIFA Ultimate Team back in FIFA 11 or something like that. I really liked it. You began with a team full of bronze players, played against similar rated opponents and then card by card improved your squad until you had all gold players.
In 2k MyTeam I completely miss this fact. I start the game and immediately have 2 or 3 80+ rated players, including an 89 rated Antetokounmpo. When I play, the game completely neglects team strength and just matches you up against a random opponent, which 90% of the time has a complete 90+ Hall of Fame lineup.
Then, as you get your first MyTeam points you can directly invest them into 90+ players yourself, because the auction house is so flooded with all those diamond/pink diamond cards. I can get a 95 rated Damian Lillard for 1000 MT.
On the other hand, if I want to complete collections, this is hardly possible because it is really difficult to get those bronze and silver players. There are just way way more good cards on the market than there are bad ones.
In my opinion 2k is just giving out too many of those 90+ cards.
Why do they have to create new ones every week, especially for players, that don't really deserve them? Yes, Joe Harris won the 3pt shootout. But does that make him a 95 rated player?! No!! Why not give him a special card with 99 3pt rating and everything is fine. Also, I can now get a lineup full of diamond/pink diamonds with around 20k MT just buy going to the auction house. Shouldn't these cards be the most valuable in this game?
Also, I am completely missing any goal in this mode. Back when I was playing FIFA, you had to take care of team chemistry to get a good team. You needed players of the same nationality, real life team or real life league and also put them on their correct position to achieve that goal. Then you played online league mode, where you had to reach a certain number of wins to move up one league. You were matched up against similar opponents. That was fun! In MyTeam? I can just patch up anything I want. If I want to, I can put up a lineup of 98 rated Magic Johnson with 97 3pt rating (career average 3pt shooting of 30%) with 4 SFs and have fun with it. Also there is no real long term motivation to play online games. The only thing I can reach is a 12:0 run to get some of these reward cards, but why bother?

So to improve MyTeam in the future, in my opinion 2k has to

          1) Balance the amount of different card strengths. Bronze and silver cards should make up the most amount of cards while only a few cards (and only the best players in the history) should be rated very high.
          2) There should be some kind of restriction in team building, at least in specific modes, that you cannot just put up any 13 hall of fame players.
          3) Better matchmaking. Match one up against similar rated teams and opponents of similar strength.
          4) Some kind of long term motivation for playing games. Like those league that have been in FIFA.

You're clearly not on 19. his 95 OVR is a Diamond in 19.

oh man.... then it is a diamond. i dont ****ing Care which color this card has. it is completely overrated and it's worth next to nothing because 2k is flooding the market with way too many high Rated cards.

You must be on PC... there is also no such thing as a 95 ovr pink diamond.

Lillard was going for 20-30k on PS4. He was a good bargain because he was in the Kobe packs. pG is also the cheapest position because they are shorter and a lot of people abuse them with Magic/Giannis etc. You can get a good team of purple/diamond cards for 100-200k, but if you want the elite and most sought after cards they are going for 400-700k a piece. Definately not not cheap. It's also fairly late in the season so the prices of 90-95s has come down a lot. I personally am glad I dont have to spend any real cash to put together a competitive team, while still having something to strive for. The game mode is what you make of it, like they say there is no beating MyTeam. Either you have fun with it or you dont. I like building my collection and challanging my friends, but to each their own

I like that some elite players are affordable, however as always i hate the fact I'm forced to play against elite teams. How hard can it be to have matchmaking put you against simular teams or include a restricted ladder... And i wish they'd stop rewarding off ball defense. Just lower on ball defense iq and put the reaching tendency at zero. It's An easy fix, if they wanted to.
