    NBA2k6 findings.

I figured to make a post for us Roster makers to share any findings to help us with our edits.

I predominantly play CPU v CPU so create rosters to accentuate that.

    My First findings.

    The passing logic has changed
every player behaves like Tyrese Haliburton on the drive.
kick outs are in over abundance.
I have seen SGA beat his man and have a completely open lane to score and he will kick out as soon as any help shows.
this happens over and over again.

I have adjusted the finish strong and pass tendencies and tinkered with the many 3pt tendencies to see if this helps. So far, in this early stage of testing, it hasn't.
it is an absolute drive and kick 3pt fest. Esspecially corner 3s. With very little finishing strong, meaning no freethrows
every team (that i have tested) is playing like peak 25 Celtics without the finishing inside.

    Hopefully this gets ironed out

Yup, I've noticed it too. My theory is that it's because the "driving layup" tendency is missing from the Tendency section in the roster creator. It must be the same spreadsheet the in-game CPU players use. So even when they get a clear drive to the basket, they're registering their urge to do a driving layup as 0.

I guess every year they have to start the cycle with at least one game-breaking bug. Last year it was ACE substitutions overriding all rotations and stars staying the whole game and getting too hot as a result.

      I can't stand it.

Ive adjusted tendencies, I raised driving dunk for every player to see if they have incorporated driving layups with that mixed with the dunk attribute.
nope. Just watched SGA euro step right to the rim then unnecessarily dish out to holmgren for a 3 like he is Haliburton on one of his bad days.

      Pfft..
It's always some issue with this game.

I had 2k25 down. but got sucked into spending big on the pre order just to edit early. And i feel like as it is. It is broken regarding this.

      And for the record.
      To test.
SGA's driving dunk tendency was 85. And finish strong and dish to open man was 85-15.

what do you mean by “layup tendency is missing”?Is it totally gone or not functioning. Have you tried raising up "attack the basket" in the slider? If it is something 2k won't fix the whole year, like AI defensive setting in 2k25, I'm thinking skip 2k26.

When you go into the "tendency" section of the roster editor, "Driving Layup" is missing. It's normally between Step Through Shot and Spin Layup. The attack-the-basket tendency is fine. The CPU is getting into the paint regularly. It's what they choose the do after they've attacked that's the issue. And without the driving layup tendency in the spreadsheet, they just get to the paint and then pass it back out to the perimeter.

It's a pretty glaring error, so hopefully it gets fixed before the game officially releases on the 5th, since this would be a pretty embarrassing mistake to have on Launch Day. But with 2K's track record, who knows? I don't think last year's ACE/Hot Streak mistake got cleared up until like mid-October?

            They probably haven't even noticed.....
            grrr...

I saw Michael Cooper recieve an outlet pass on the break, no one in front of him, pass out instead of finish
I was expecting a dunk, but as soon as a defender was in his vicinity, even though the defender was trailing... he pulled a haliburton.

            Not good.
It's the one glaring AI issue I currently see at this early stage of editing and testing.

Isn’t the driving layup tendency at the top of the “layups and dunks” tab in tendencies?

Within the individual player editor, yes. It's also still on the player cards. But I'm referring to the main spreadsheet that you see when you enter "View Roster" and the one that you can Quick Edit in the "Roster Creator". Driving Layup Tendency is missing from there.

Apparently, that is the spreadsheet the AI players refer to in-game, because even with the tendency still being present in the game and editable, nearly every CPU drive to the basket ends with them passing back out to the perimeter. A small percentage of drives end with step through shots or the other fancy layups that are still on the spreadsheet.
