Re: Sonicmage's SportsCrunch Ratings
Not a majority of them, but certainly a lot. About a year ago I did some extensive testing to find out what percentages each rating corresponded to in sim stats for a lot of key shooting categories. For layups, what I found was the range was way too low; it's hard, really hard, to get a player to shoot 70% or more from the paint in this game in sim stats. This was a big problem in 2K17, which is partly why the Points in the paint was such an issue, and now in 2K18 it's the same. But the reason why PITP is not as much an issue with 2K's roster in 2K18 is because dunk tendencies are so high which brought up the total points, and not because they fixed the actual issue with the percentages. I tried reporting it at the time, but no one ever really looked at it, and here we are with the same problem.NBA 2K18 ratings for several seasons generated from advanced analytics using the SportsCrunch system:

Re: Sonicmage's SportsCrunch Ratings
My formula for limitless range is percentages when shooting over 26 feet from the basket. As of the last time I grabbed stats on November 12th, he was 9 for 17 from that distance on the season. Since 17 is not enough to fulfill the minimum criteria of 24 shots, what I do next is add shots from the post all-star period of the previous season as well.
So with that period last year and this year combined, he's 32 for 68, which is 47.0%. I don't give HOF badges lightly, it has to be one of the best we've seen which you have to agree that percentage certainly is. I even give progressive penalties for low shot totals and he still beat out Steph Curry from that range.
Now I'm in the process of grabbing new stats for another update, and Pau's cooled off a bit so he'll probably no longer have the HOF, but he'll certainly still have the badge at some level.Last edited by SonicMage; 12-05-2017, 01:55 AM.NBA 2K18 ratings for several seasons generated from advanced analytics using the SportsCrunch system:

Re: Sonicmage's SportsCrunch Ratings
EDIT: Wait, no, that's interesting. I'll get back to you in a second, I may have just found a bug.
EDIT 2: Yup, it's a bug in my code. A real nasty one, too. This might affect things a little bit like close and midrange hot zones and close/midrange tendencies, but only by a small amount. Limitless range may get the biggest fix of all though. Unfortunately, it's the type of bug where I need to run a lot of scripts to correct the problem so it may take a couple days added on to what I'm already doing to compile the new stats.Last edited by SonicMage; 12-05-2017, 03:36 AM.NBA 2K18 ratings for several seasons generated from advanced analytics using the SportsCrunch system:

Re: Sonicmage's SportsCrunch Ratings
No I'm talking about how well he shot at more than 26 feet from the basket, which is more than a couple feet behind the line. Badge grinders and 2k lab have all confirmed that that's where limitless range begins and then tapers off the further you get from the basket.

Re: Sonicmage's SportsCrunch Ratings
Yup, thanks.
The formula's the same, but the bug was with the way I was calculating shot distances from the shot chart data, that would have potentially thrown most of them off by a little bit, couple feet at worst. So in Pau's case, he had some 25 foot shots being counted as 27 feet which is why there were so many shots well behind the line. This will correct that problem.NBA 2K18 ratings for several seasons generated from advanced analytics using the SportsCrunch system:

Re: Sonicmage's SportsCrunch Ratings
What would happen to FTA's if foul tendencies were increased globally across league? Haven't ran sim myself and never ran a sim with your ratings or tendencies sonic?

This would cause players to be in foul trouble more frequently and mess with their minutes played.Comment
