December 5th:
BREAKING:
Freshman PG Steven Moiso tore his Right ACL only 8 games into his college career in a game against Kansas. Moiso took a hard foul by Kansas's Freshman PG John Wear at the rim and landed awkwardly which caused the tear. After the game, Wear told the media that the foul was "strictly a basketball play" and that he is "deeply sorry" for Moiso's injury. Wear is definetly one of the bigger Point Guards in the nation standing at 6'4" with a 6'10" wingspan and weighing in at an immense 219 pounds. In his first 8 games, Steven was averaging 18.7 PPG, 9.2 APG (1st in the nation) and 6.4 RPG.Last edited by VAWereWolf65; 04-07-2017, 10:59 AM.Comment

December 12th:
Injury Update: Steven Moiso
Steven is set to go into ACL Surgery on December 19th, and if the operation is successful, he will most likely be sidelined anywhere from 8-10 months. NBA Scouts had been drooling over Moiso before his injury, but after it, will he be able to fullfil the expectations that people have set for him? No ones really sure. An ACL tear can be devastating to a players career, and I think everyone is a little worried about this one.
Just How Good is Jason White?
It may be a pretty massive stretch to say that a college player is already unguardable at the NBA level, but I'd be more than willing to say that Jason White already is unguardable at the NBA level, even if the kid is only 19 years old. Before we get to the people who could potentially contain him on offense in the NBA, let's take a look at some of the reasons why he's already unguardable. First off, the dude is an athletic freak of nature. He uses his 34.5 inch vertical along with his 7'7" wingspan to play above the rim with ease. He's very quick, agile, fluid and he's most likely the strongest player to come into the league since Shaq. He's 7'1" and 294 pounds as a 19 year old. He uses his strength and size to simply over power defenders and dunk the ball straight on their head. He eats everything off the offensive glass and spits it right back into the basket, and while he may not be a defensive stopper, he's a great shot blocker and has great defensive potential with his wingspan and foot work. Now to the people who could potentially shut him down or contain him. Guys like Marc Gasol and Andre Drummond are great defensive players who are strong enough to contain him, but they lack one thing that could make it very hard on them, Speed. The only two players currently in the NBA that I think could completely and utterly shut down Jason White right out of the gates are Dwight Howard and DeAndre Jordan. They both have the speed, agility, defensive skills and strength to shut him down on offense. That being said, as Jason continues to mature and become quicker and stronger, will there be anybody who can stop him?
Is Niels Pointer's attitude going to be a problem?
We've seen time and time again where Niels Pointer has been pulled aside by a ref or coach (or often is just hit with a technical foul) for losing his temper and composure on the court, but it seems like everything someone says to him goes through one ear and comes right back out the other. His lack of focus during game time situations is probably the biggest reason for his inconsistent jumpshot and spotty free throw shooting. He's surrounded by awful teammates aside from Junior C Richie Collier (who is a complete rebounding machine by the way, he's third in the nation) but the two don't appear to get along very well. I think the real question at this point is whether Niels attitude is simply due to his lack of maturity as a player (the kid only turned 18 just recently), or if it's something bigger that could potentially hurt his NBA career.Comment

December 26th:
Player of the Year race
1. Jason White (California)
Jason has showed his dominance all season by obliterating defenses in the post and rebounding the ball better at a very impressive rate. He's currently 2nd in the nation in rebounding (13.2 RPG) and is right behind Wisconsin C Max Carr (who has been having a historic season rebounding the ball). White is also 6th in the nation in scoring (22.6 PPG) and isn't afraid to pass the ball as he's also averaging 2.8 APG as a 7'1" Center. He's helped carry California to the No. 1 spot in the AP Poll, alongside PG Marshawn Barron.
2. Harrison Bishop (Kentucky)
Harrison Bishop has done wonders for Kentucky this year, dragging them to the No. 2 spot on the AP Poll practically all by himself. Bishop is averaging 18.2 PPG along with a staggering 8.3 APG (1st in the nation, excluding LSU PG Steven Moiso (Injured)). Bishop has also been averaging a very helpful 1.6 SPG and is 3rd in the nation in BPG by a point guard (excluding LSU PG Steven Moiso) averaging 0.8 BPG.
3. Trey Holiday (Old Dominion)
The sophomore Shooting Guard has stunned NBA scouts this season with his amazing development and skill level that he did not showcase as a freshman last year. The 6'4" guard reminds me a lot of C.J. McCollum because of his athleticism, playmaking and shooting potential. He's currently averaging 25.4 PPG (3rd in the nation) and 5.9 APG (7th in the nation) for an Old Dominion team ranked No. 10 in the AP Poll.
Another Giannis?
Andrea Belinelli is a 7'0", 231 Pound SF from Italy who is expected to declare for this upcoming draft. Andrea's speed and agility is amazing for his height and he's very great at slashing and finishing around the basket. He's not much of a playmaker yet, but he has good ball handling ability considering the fact that he's 7 feet tall. His jumpshot is still very much a work in progress, as he doesn't have much of an ability to create space for his jumpshot or shoot in traffic, but he's getting better everyday. His defensive game is also still unpolished, but he's a good shot blocker and he's hoping that he can have an impact on both ends of the floor right out of the gates for whatever team decides to draft him.
Isaac Liggins hits slump
Isaac has had big struggles shooting the ball since the departure of his backcourt partner, Caleb Slaughter. Last season, Slaughter shot 45.5% from 3-Point Range while Isaac Liggins was shooting 48.4% from 3-Point Range. The two combined for a total of 35.8 Points a night and were practically unstoppable together. This year, without Caleb Slaughter, Isaac is only averaging 16.4 PPG as opposed to last year when he was averaging 20.2 PPG. Also, Isaac's 3-Point Percentage has slipped from 48.4% down to 43.6%. Whether this is just a minor slump or if he really needs to be playing with Caleb Slaughter to be good, we aren't sure. But it looks to me like it's starting to get to him and he hasn't looked nearly as confident on the court as he did last season. He's gotten into a lot of trouble off the court lately too, which could be contributing to this slump. He was issued a speeding ticket on December 20th for going 106 MPH in a 75 MPH zone while returning home after a party around 3:30 in the morning.Comment

-Amazing playmaking ability and court vision; Can handle and pass the ball unlike anyone else at his height.

January 22nd:
Gabriel Wall has a historic night
Gabriel Wall dropped 56 points last night against South Carolina as Nebraska cruised past the Gamecocks for a 81-54 win (That's right, Wall had more points than the entire South Carolina team). He said after the game that he knew he was going to be hot after seeing his first couple of shots drop in. Gabriel got his 56 points on only 31 shots, ending the game a scorching 74.2% from the field. This performance completely shatters the University of Nebraska's single game Men's Basketball Scoring record, formerly held by Eric Piatkowski who dropped 42 points on Oklahoma back in 1994.
Freshman Spotlight: Eli Babcock
Eli has been having a great season so far for Gonzaga, averaging 13.2 points and 9.1 rebounds per game. He's been making lots of good plays on defense and already has a loaded highlight reel of dunks on his opponents. His teammates describe him as someone that everyone should want on their team because of his great hustle and love for the game. He does so much for his team that doesn't show up in the box score like setting good screens and coming up with hustle and energy plays to get his team going. I think he'll find a nice place for himself at the next level with a team looking for an athletic big man that rebounds the ball well and plays solid defense.
Fabricio makes his debut
Fabricio Paciani (Older cousin of Bryan Paciani, who entered last year's draft) made his debut on Tuesday for Vanoli Basket (Italy) in an exhibition game against Sidigas Avellino. Paciani had 14 points and 5 rebounds in 20 minutes of play. Fabricio had been injured for the first half of the season but I'm sure this was a pleasant surprise for Vanoli Basket who only has a record of 6-10 this year. Although I'm sure that Vanoli was hoping to get to spend more time with Fabricio, It doesn't look like that's going to happen as he has made it pretty clear that he is entering this year's draft.Comment
