Re: JB's 2k20 (PS4) Fictional Draft Classes
Actually restarted my series after the crazy trades happened so I've gotten up to 4 seasons and 3 draft classes. Was able to get most of the players to teams they were before but kind of liking the new look on some teams. The one player that has kind of caught me off guard is Delgado. He was the #2 pick so of course he would be good, but the Spurs are in the middle of a rebuild and hes coming out the gate averaging 20, 7, and 3.
Pharcyde, are there any other intiguing storylines budding in your ML?Comment

Re: JB's 2k20 (PS4) Fictional Draft Classes
I'm using Schnaidt1 progression sliders so its been interesting. I kinda look at how some of these players are turning out and wonder if they went to another team how'd it go. Just finished up Draft 4 and running the 2023 season off and on.
Draft 1 - Cooper and Morant are the best backcourt in the NBA and its not even a conversation. Morant has a rating of 93, and finished 5th in MVP voting, Cooper is 87 and should make his first all-star game. Last year they had the best record in the league and Morant breaking his hand ended their playoff run early. This year may be the year they get their first title.
Draft 2 - Jaheim Briggs was the 4th pick and joined Ibraham Mobley in Charlotte. Jason Sanders was the 1st pick and along with Tre Hunter are in New York with RJ Barrett. Neither franchise has made the playoffs in years. Both teams finished around 33- 49 and showed some dramatic improvement. Is this the year either team finally gets into the off-season with the new roster changes.
Draft 3 - Delgado has looked like a superstar in San Antonio and while good, Marcell Hampton looks anything but in Miami. He averaged 36% from the field and 25% from three. Eric Spoelstra has changed the offense around to help put him in easier positions to score. The team also drafted Jevon Rolle with the 4th pick in the latest draft to help facilitate the offense a little better. So we will see how it goes in his second season.
Draft 4 - Masai Ujiri finally got the rebuild started he always wanted. Traded Siakim for multiple picks and managed to get the 1st pick in the draft to select Brighton Reed. He has completely revamped the roster with the oldest player being 26 year old OG Anunoby. The wont win a lot of games, which is the intent but they'll be entertaining to watch .Comment

Re: JB's 2k20 (PS4) Fictional Draft Classes
Schnaidt1's sliders are pretty good, both the Gameplay sliders and Franchise settings. The gameplay sliders are not really geared toward CPU vs CPU stuff but it's created the best games I've seen so far this year. Also the progression sliders are good imo. There is a legitimate dropoff for players who leave their prime and it gets a lot of the older players out the league which was an initial issue.
I do 32 team full control. During the season I'm kind of hands off until the trade deadline. One thing I try to do is make trades at least as realistic as possible to a certain extent since the CPU is just terrible at it. An example is this is the last year on Towns contract. They haven't been to the playoffs a single time since I've started this franchise mode. Last year they really tried to push and lost out on the 8th seed by two games. In the offseason Russell didn't resign and left for the Clippers. There is no way Towns would stay in Minny. So where does he go? Just stuff like that.Comment

What are some interesting moves in the year 3/4 range that you’re thinking about making? I am always open for ideas of how and where to move players.Comment

Re: JB's 2k20 (PS4) Fictional Draft Classes
So I have 32 teams. Added the Seattle Supersonics and Las Vegas Golden Knights. I know its the NHL team but the color scheme is way to nice not to use. Also, a major note is I'm using Tynoles roster with a bit of editing. The ratings on some players tends to skyrocket so I have to tone some players down during the off-seasons. Concerning year 3/4 hmm. Top 3 stories?
Philadelphia aka me, fired everyone. One NBA Finals appearance and 3 semi-final losses. They brought in Kenny Atkinson who left Brooklyn in the off-season. First move of new GM Derek Chapman was to trade Ben Simmons. It sounds ridiculous but Embiid is the 5th highest rated player in the league. He has finished top 5 MVP for three straight seasons. Simmons has dropped to 83. So the question is where would you trade him? Eastern Conference out the window so he has to head West. The way my league is setting up he got sent to Denver for Murray and a pick swap. Denver hasnt gotten over the Western Conference Finals hump and I've watched games with Murray putting up 30 and giving up 40. So it made sense. I'm sure in a week I'll look back and be like 'nah, wtf was that.'
Utah has been to the Western Conference Finals once and just haven't been really worth much discussion otherwise. In the first draft class they drafted Sasha Kosporov and his development has allowed them to move Gobert for picks and the ability to free up space. They used it to sign Wiggins, TJ Warren, and fill out the bench. I didn't think they would be any good but they've actually looked amazing. I'm not sure if its because they just have more athletic talent or what but I'll see how it plays out the rest of the season.
Tne LA Teams. The Clippers won the 2019 title, the Lakers won two after that and the Celtics won the last one. So its been a really good rivalry seeing the LA teams go at each other but now everyone is old. Lebron is 35. They picked up Drummond and he's 30. AD is 30. Wall was just signed and he's 33. This championship window coming close to the end so they're going for it again. The Clippers on the other hand traded Paul. He was due 40 million and I think he was rated a 79 or something crazy. They also traded Harrell, the top 10 pick they got from missing the playoffs, another first and got Beal from Washington. With the leftover space they signed Russell from free agency.
So that's kinda how I manage my league. A lot of moves I'm sure if I sat down and actually was talking to someone I may have done different. The last thing I ask myself is if I saw a Woj bomb three to four years from now that sounded like the trade I was setting up what would my reaction be.Comment

My champions have been the Rockets, Bucks and Lakers. The Clippers have been very competitive, as have the Celtics and the Nets are just now starting to compete with their stars.
Speaking of the Bucks, what did you decide to do with Giannis? I told myself I'd keep him put if the Bucks were in the top four and they have been every year, including a title year. I could see him leaving for a major market though.
Have you done anything with De'Aaron Fox or Devin Booker? They both are just floating along on teams in perpetual purgatory and I can't stomach that after a while. I try and overcompensate teams like the Kings and Suns when I make moves like that so they can once again slingshot their rebuilding process.
Lastly, what in particular do you do with ratings once they get too high? I'm just curious what kid of actual application there is to this process. What progression sliders do you use? I haven't had the spike yet, but I'm always weary of it.Comment

Re: JB's 2k20 (PS4) Fictional Draft Classes
I've got a few questions about a full-control MyLeague and I hope it's ok if I post them here since you guys seem to be checking this thread regularly.
So here we go:
- What do you do during the season? Or rather what will you let the CPU handle for teams you maybe want to focus on less.
- How do you handle the Off-Season? Do you draft, trade and sign manually for every team?
- How many games do you end up playing each season?
That would be it for the moment. Any help or response is greatly appreciated.
I always wanted to start a MyLeague where I control every team, because I also get frustrated with how poorly the AI is managing teams and how stars get stuck at losing teams, but I never knew how to "properly" execute it.Last edited by Badger23; 03-17-2020, 08:42 PM.Comment

Re: JB's 2k20 (PS4) Fictional Draft Classes
1. I don't do much of anything during the season, early parts anyway. If there's a game I'm watching the only thing I do is make some coaching changes to the substitution patterns. Oh, and make sure there aren't some crazy amount patella tendon season ending injuries popping up.
Also, I do tune the rating a LOT right before free agency. Devonte Davis was asking for 20 mil. Wondered if the game was bugged and found him with 89 in all defensive stats. So have to keep an eye on stuff like that.
2. I tend to the off-season Staff hiring and firing. CPU will let some coaches just walk off into the sunset or fire coaches for one bad season. I do tend to create my own storyline drama. Like Milwaukee firing Budenholzer after losing to the Celtics. Then the CPU managed to resign Brogdon which was pretty cool. I don't really mess with free agency unless something really absurd happens. Like San Antonio signed Marcus Smart this offseason. Why would you go and sign Zach Lavine to 20 something million? So just tuning up salary cap issues a lot.
I run the lottery 3 times and then whoever wins that 3rd run keeps the pick. It honestly doesn't add anything but I just like watching how it plays out. Concerning the off-season training I just simulate it and let the CPU handle it to keep it fair.
3. I break the season down by 3rds. First 20 games Oct/Nov/Dec I tend to watch a little of everybody. I pick one or two games during a quiet day just let them play in the background. Game not competitive I just sim to the end. Jan/Feb I tend to simulate a LOT more days until I hit trade deadline. Then I make some roster changes and see how teams look for a week or two. March/April I just sim to the end of the season.
Got the playoffs set up as 5/7/7/7. Watch the 1st game, 4th game, and 7th if its played and just finish the season out.
Edit: 2023 Phoenix looks like they're finally going to the playoffs again. Ayton finished 4th in the MVP race last year and looks amazing again this year. Booker I believe is the highest rated SG right now in the league, and now Kareem Livingston has turned into an awesome two-way player this year. Mike Malone is the coach and they actually look really good. I believe they're 4th in the West with 20 games played. Sacramento fired Divac and Walton. This is the second year for the new regime and they look better. Plus Fox and Bagley are kind of stuck there after resigning have to make the best of it. Who is getting traded is Buddy Hield. Last year of his contract and they just drafted Louis Morgan, who has been awesome.Comment

Sliders won’t fix that - it’s within the roster & draft class itself of how much a players rating of: Loyalty - Financial Security & Play for winner areComment

Re: JB's 2k20 (PS4) Fictional Draft Classes
Sounds like I need to edit some things then. I get tired of having to start myleague over lol. At the same time, it's a good way for me to get my draft classes right. I'm trying to get a particular player right. He's a combination of PG and Klay....a guard that can defend multiple positions at 6'7. Can handle the rock a bit...shows an advanced handle. Can run off screens with the best of em and is a decent sneaky smoove athlete. What numbers would reflect that well in attributes without being overpowered...badges? Just looking for some guidance.Comment
