When you jack up ANY of the tendency sliders, you are essentially losing the variance among the general population of players. We don't want that to happen and are willing to sacrifice a "Few" 3PT attempts per game to make sure that doesn't happen.

Again, that is more of a gameplay issue under the hood.

The CPU will generally take "good" shots vs. how players play IRL.

What do you mean by "variance"? I have a feeling the term is not used in the sense I think it was (measure of how far a set of random numbers are spread out from their average value)?

I can agree with the lack of three ball aggression, which is why I’ve noticed that a lot of roster/slider makers do 99 or 100 on the 3pt tendency for the players and/or the sliders. But that tactic doesn’t create a lot of disparity with shot selections.

Well yes, but you also have a "CONTESTED 3p tendency" slider to use which makes a big difference.

Also the TOUCHES slider is important in determining how often does a player get in touch with the ball.

Are you worried about "disparity" between number of 3p shots different players take or the quality of those shots?



Other important note - its not about the sheer amount of THREES, but the percentage of all the shots.

So we could somehow raise the tempo of the game, the problem would still
be there - the relation between 3ps and other shots wouldnt change, and that is whats important, not the absolute value of three pointers.

And that relation is also heavily skewed in 2k.

In reality, teams are distributed somewhere between 30% and 45% of threes, most of teams are around 36-38%.

Yea not sure why that is happening because we are all sharing the same file(s).

With regards to 1990s team packs, do you planning on releasing a mid 1990s Indiana Pacers roster? I'm dying to get my mid-90s Indiana vs New York fix on. If you manage to get John Starks headbutting Reggie Miller....

In regards to the crashing, it's not the roster file. I downloaded JoeCool version, still crashes in first quarter.

Back to the 3PT topic, I am consistently seeing teams 30-35% of shots coming from the 3PT line for our 2020 teams.

When I said "variance" (maybe that was the wrong word to use), I was simply saying jacking up the 3PT attempts slider somewhat throws away the 3PT tendency as it can cause players that have lower attempts take more threes than desired. That is why I refuse to jack up the 3PT tendency slider.

If you feel the need to do so in your own personal playing experience, feel free.

I understand things can't be person due to how the game is simply programmed but there is always give-and-take when it comes to roster making. I generally feel satisfied with our product but things can always improve and we make sure we get into the lab each summer to address issues that we can control.

My intention was not to argue, but to discuss. I am not having any final answers about how the CPU AI works, there is a lot of thing I still dont get, but also there are many observations.

So, you were talking about the slider. Interesting. I thought everybody out there has it raised to 100 as a conditio sine qua non

Just spitballiing here because I've only done a few fantasy drafts with it, but I've had it crash twice on me in the 1st quarter as well and Devonte Graham was on my team on the court. I know there was another guy saying previously that his crashed when he was using the Charlotte Hornets. Devonte Graham would be the common denominator......

Just a possibility I'm thinking. Maybe a long shot.

All-Star or SuperStar. I can't remember, it was in October.

Definitely not Pro or Cheat Mode (HOF)

My games always crash back to the dashboard when using your Rosters in MyLeague. I finally figured out why.

In the edit roster screen on the main menu, your rosters show the stats for this season 2019-2020.
When I downloaded 2Ks default roster, they only show the stats for last season, 2018-2019.

I'm thinking that since the season ended so abruptly, it maybe messed up those rosters that were made during the season for they show the stats for 19-20. This maybe causes the game to glitch and crash.

I took 2Ks default roster into MyLeague and the game does not crash at all.

Interesting, that could be it.

Weird, I just did a game with Devonte Graham in my MyLeague and didn't wrong into a crashing bug. I might have to do with his appearance being different from launch (or from our "base" file) or something of that nature.

Maybe try importing him and dumping the "glitched" version into the FA pool, drop all his (the "glitched" version)ratings to 25 & using DNA to re-add him as a create-a-player? You will lose his rookie season stats, but he played very little and it might help.
