To Avoid Crashes People ALL you have to do is Reject all the Rule Changes that get accepted, Do no league alignments, On DRAFT night as soon as you enter the draft, Press SKIP TO USER PICK Select your player and then skip to end of Draft, Then go through the rest of the offseason as normal and you will be fine...Also i suggest turning off auto save and save it manually Through the season and after every Playoffs...I played about 16 years with no crashes doing it this way.

Re: NBA 2K20: 1999-2000 Roster Project With Draft Classes (20 Year Sim)
I guess this would be a good place to put this -
This is phenomenal. Thank you SO MUCH for putting this together. Clearly it took a lot of research and time, and it deserves much more recognition. I decided that this was a great opportunity to completely re-simulate the last 20 years of NBA History and make a little project out of it for fun before school starts up again for me. I replaced the Pelicans with "Filler Team" and made their logo just the NBA Logo, and plan to keep them like that for all 20 years (drafting the worst 2 players in each draft), and instead I will add the Bobcats in 04 as an actual expansion team so that there is an actual expansion draft. I largely am remaining neutral (only controlling Filler Team until the playoffs when I make everything auto for the playoff teams so I can simcast), aside from every once in a while I do a "User-Initiated Trade" where I temporarily control a team that I think should make an interesting trade for someone and try to get the trade done, negotiating with the computer on the other side of the trade. I think this makes it a bit more interesting - 2k only makes big trades on its own during Draft Night, so having actual offseason trades spices it up a bit. An example was Shawn Kemp to Philly for a 1st and some role players after the first season - in this example, I controlled Philly after they got swept in the 1st round in 2000. Anyways - it is so much fun due to how realistic the simulation is, at least with the results. In the 02 offseason I also had to veto a couple of signings due to the player being an RFA in real life. The scores of the actual games are a good bit higher than in real life, but thats expected since 2k thinks its the 2020s, not the 2000s. One thing I wish 2k allowed was to make the 1st round 7 games after 2002, but it can't do that, so 5 game series remain.
It won't let me link a Google Drive folder where I am recording everything because I am new to this website, but once I make some more posts I guess I can post it. Every trade, signing, all-stars, record after each month of each season, awards, every playoff game, etc is all there. The results so far of each season have been pretty realistic, aside from a few weird things such as the Spurs not being very good after the first year.
Short summary so far... (hopefully I can link the google drive folder at some point)
Lakers 4-3 Knicks in 2000 (Kobe FMVP)
Lakers 4-1 Heat in 2001 (Kobe FMVP, lol Shaqs tendencies screw him in the Finals out of getting finals MVP even though he won regular season MVP this year)
Bucks 4-3 Lakers in 2002 (Ray Allen FMVP, the Bucks signed Stephen Jackson at the beginning of the sim, so they progressed really well into a 64-18 team, RIP the Lakers 3-peat)
Currently going into the 02-03 season, hopefully going to go all the way until 19-20. Once again, thank you so much for making this, phenonmenal work.
*One more note - I manually removed MJ because in my tests before I started he always signed with a team at the beginning of 99-00 that made no sense at all. I'd rather his career end in 1998 anywayComment

Re: NBA 2K20: 1999-2000 Roster Project With Draft Classes (20 Year Sim)
First of all, many thanks to all of the contributors to these retro rosters and draft classes. I can't imagine the time and effort that went into getting these to be so great (I haven't used them yet, but just from seeing the video(s) I can tell they are amazing!
With that being said, is there is a spreadsheet available of any of the roster data? I ask because I'd love to get the rosters and draft classes onto 2K21 for myNBA, but I'm on PS5. I could buy the PS4 version of 2k20 just to view these rosters and then do all of the data entry to "copy" the players onto the console. A spreadsheet would just make it a bit easier/faster, so figured I'd ask. Thank you.Comment

Re: NBA 2K20: 1999-2000 Roster Project With Draft Classes (20 Year Sim)
This has been one of the best franchise modes I've played in my decades playing sports games. I just entered my fourth season in my "What if" dream scenario of Michael Jordan playing with Kobe and Shaq on the Lakers (there was a one-day rumor of Phil Jackson asking MJ to join the Lakers the day Phil was hired to become coach) and the Lakers are going for their fourth-straight championship.
It's been one helluva ride so far. The Lakers needed to defeat the Pistons for the first title, which made sense given Jordan's rivalry with the Pistons during his Bulls days. Then Jordan and the Lakers needed to knock off the Knicks to win the second championship. And who was there to try and end the threepeat run? That's right, the revamped Chicago Bulls, which had Elton Brand, Ron Artest, Peja Stojakovic, Mark Jackson, Brad Miller, Jeff McInnis, Kelvin Cato and others. Unfortunately, the Bulls were swept by Jordan and the Lakers.
Now comes the fourpeat. The Lakers lost a TON of bench players during the offseason. The CPU-generated offseason saw the Lakers trade Robert Horry and a second-round pick to the Spurs for Larry Johnson, who signed in the 2000 offseason to be the team's sixth man. The Lakers also traded Glen Rice and a 2004 first-rounder to the Bulls for Mark Jackson and Primož Brezec, who blossomed into an incredible inside force for the Lakers.
Oh, and the Bulls? Yea, the computer automatically had the Bulls trade Glen Rice and that first-round pick to the Spurs for Chauncey Billups. That led the Bulls to be the second-best team in the East after being the three seed for the 2001-02 season.
But as the postseason advances and the Lakers draw nearer to that fourpeat, I cannot help to look at the 2003-04 season with this massive LeBron-led draft. The Hornets set themselves up nicely with four first-round picks, thanks to CPU-generated trades. And on top of that, the team boasts Paul Pierce, who left the Celtics for Charlotte in the 2002 offseason; Baron Davis, who might not return to the team in the 2003 offseason due to free agency; Bonzi Wells, Stromile Swift and Jermaine O'Neal as the starting five with Rik Smits, Richard Jefferson and 2002 first-round selection Mike Dunleavy coming off the bench. The Hornets are shaping up to be a potential dynasty.
As for the Pelicans? Well, I just gave them a bunch of no-names and dropped their attributes down to 40. I also traded away their picks during the three drafts and gave them a bunch of 2004 draft picks. I think they might have five or six first-round picks for the 2004 draft. Honestly, I'll use the draft as their expansion draft while keeping the Hornets in Charlotte.
Seriously, I cannot thank you enough for this. You really made my NBA 2K20 experience that much better.Comment

Re: NBA 2K20: 1999-2000 Roster Project With Draft Classes (20 Year Sim)
Indeed there is. Download the all rookies from all the draft classes and load them into free agency in a roster file. Then you'll you have an offline database of all the rookies to last forever. You can extract the DNA from all the rookies in a specific draft class, and export them into a new draft class that you can use in MyLeague.
It's time consuming, but our only option. One benefit is that since you're forced to use this strategy and already fiddling with DNA, you can take advantage of the nickname eliminating method. I may have included instructions for that in my thread, not so sure.
I've got four roster files that include a total of about 2300 rookies. I've personally stopped creating rookies at year 2011 (spanning since 1948), and over the last few weeks I've begun editing Clutch's classes 2011 onwards to align them with my own formula. God bless Clutch man, he's pumped out a lot of classes but since he's been busy with rosters too the rookie tendencies and attributes aren't all perfect. I'm inputting signatures too.
One really fun thing to do is divide the rookies into time periods and use them for a fantasy draft. For example I've got a file for rookies 1948-1975, I created a fantasy myleague with it and use rookies from other time period load more rookies every off season. The team I drafted looks like Wilt, Schayes, Gervin, D. Ellis, S.Floyd. It's absolutely stacked, but so are the rest of the teams! It's a blast. I also have realistic myleagues running as well.
So yeah, there is a way to continue playing this project. I personally plan on playing NBA 2K20 for the next decade, and I don't know that that will be enough time to enjoy all the content!
Once again, big thanks to Clutch for helping me wrap up my project. You're a beast, and there's no one who can appreciate your efforts more than me dude. I hope my thread went some way in helping you with your draft classes.Last edited by Zeke11; 08-19-2021, 11:24 PM.Comment

Are you saying that we have to export the player’s DNA in the draft class one by one?

Re: NBA 2K20: 1999-2000 Roster Project With Draft Classes (20 Year Sim)
There's no other way. Export all rookies, one by one, from all draft classes.
As far as I know, there is no limit on player DNA, you can save as much as you like. You can store all the exported rookies in the Player DNA menu.
However I would recommend storing them in free agency in 2 roster files. That way you can soundly save any changes, if need be, and you can use the Player DNA menu to help organize draft classes.
So, say you've gathered all the rookies into roster files, perhaps 2000-2010 for one and 2011-2020 for the other. Pull up a specific draft class year on Basketball-Reference or similar website, and export those specific players from the master roster file and into the player DNA storage.
From there, select "New Draft Class" from create a draft menu. Select and edit a generic 2k rookie, and import DNA of a real rookie onto him. Do this for all players from the draft class set you have saved in player DNA. Pro-tip, use distinguished names when saving player DNA. I like to save players as "]]]]" because it's quick, however it makes it difficult to import one by one later. Best thing to do is name the player DNA by their initials, followed by two spaces. For example, John Wall would be saved as "JW ". This step for identifying the players is crucial, especially for removing nicknames.
You can choose to delete the generic 2K rookies and add saved players to the pool, however this will unfortunately lead to 2K giving those players bogus nicknames. Even cyberface players with names in the commentary database sometimes get called "ABC" by announcers and commentators. Importing players onto the generic 2K rookies will eliminate the nicknames. If a player doesn't have their name in the commentary/announcing database, then the commentators and arena announcers will refer to the player by their jersey number instead.
Hope I've explained things clearly enough. It is a bit tedious, but not that much. There's a ton of content to enjoy here, so it's totally worth it anyways.
For working folks, one year isn't enough time to take in and enjoy a fantasy sim project like this one.Last edited by Zeke11; 08-25-2021, 08:00 PM.Comment

Wait zeke, is there any way to save a "x" roster file on USB device?
Lets say i create 95-96 roster for 2k20, and i want to use it 2 years from now when the server for 2k20 are closed. Is it possible to save the roster into a usb device and then just use your saved files from your usb memory?
I dont know if i explained myself well...Follow me on YouTube
