I tested your V2. Too many dunks, too many shots, no defense… I don’t know if it’s related, but all the rosters were built after an initial draft

I disagree with too many shots but everything else you said is true - I just added some tweaks to V2 and testing them right now to be sure. Trying to find a balance between good defense and still getting a lot of offensive variance.Comment

3PT% | 45% - 42%
FTAs | 16-11
FastBrk | 24-19
Assists | 36-29
Rebs | 48 - 44
Steals | 11 - 13
Blocks | 10 - 7
Dunks | 18 - 11
GAME 2 :
PTS | 127 - 126
FGs | 89 - 92
FG% | 56% - 51%
3PT | 26 - 39
3PT% | 38% - 33%

Did some math and in 2024 the avg dunks per game per team was around 5, right now these sliders are giving about double that...
I've also been using the Mavs to test and Kyrie is consistently taking like 40% of his team's shots which is insaneLast edited by stumpymcgumpy; 09-22-2025, 03:29 PM.Comment

I’m not sure if you noticed, but when you start a game CPU vs CPU you have to press ‘Start,’ choose a side, then go into ‘Coach Settings’ and reset the settings that changed (Player Minutes: Manual, Substitution: Rotation, Offense and Defense Playcalling: Auto, Freelance Series Order: Dynamic,...)
Could that affect the sliders if you don’t make those changes before starting the match?
I’ve noticed the AI never follows the minutes I assigned to the players… (I’m not using the timeline)Comment

Agree with you, numbers are much better with your V2.3. But I feel there isn’t much offensive variance, the offensive plays are often the same (I’ve tried the Kings, the Spurs, the Cavs, and many others...).Comment

Yeah not sure how to address that - have you messed with the Play Priorities for the players? I'm in the Attention to Detail discord server and someone had mentioned that "all teams only run freelance actions, instead of playbooks on offense" so maybe it's related to that. If so, I'm not sure how to affect that. Turning off 'Repeat on Success' in Coach Settings may do something.

Yeah I'm not sure there's anything we can really do to change that. First time running into thisComment

Note for V2.3 - looking at putting 3PT success back to 75 or 76. 70 seems too low with CPU Shot Timing at 45.Comment

Its the same solution as the past few iterations
Basically, you cannot use the current teams playbooks
use anything but their current playbook. This is because. like the last few iterations, the current teams playbooks are hardcoded to use freelance plays. so there is no diversity and plays wont even be run.
changing the playbook to the standard playbooks, or classic teams playbooks or custom playbooks makes a MASSIVE difference to how the AI calls plays.
Teams will actually run plays on the playbook, giving you much more control over how the teams/players run plays.
So here is what you need to do.
(Using the nuggets as an example)
1. Go to the Nuggets "edit playbook" screen and Save that teams current playbook.
2 go to Nuggets "coach profile" screen and change the Nuggets playbook to any classic teams playbook, or standard playbooks or custom playbooks. DO NOT use any current teams playbook!
so as an example replace Nuggets playbook with custom 1 playbook.
3. Go back to the "edit playbook" screen and Load the nuggets playbook you saved and then save (overwrite) the playbook.
so now. The custom playbook 1 is actually filled with current Nuggets plays but is NOT the Current Nuggets playbook. (Which is the cause of the issue)
Viola!! Watch as the cpu actually uses the plays now. And watch much more diverse cpu gameplay.
Now run plays coaching sliders and a players touches tendency is also a big factor in what plays are run along with the players tendencies.
I always have run plays for every team set at 99. I have done this for years. And 2k26 is no different.
if you do what i what I describe for every team I guarantee you will see teams consistently running varied plays from their playbooks, meaning more diversity in cpu gameplay.
