Just got home - did get to play the game for about 90min or so. If they had copies in the back, they definitely weren't giving them up. I tried to pick the most "out of it" CC rep there and ask him for the game, but another guy that seemed more rehearsed said it wouldn't be out until Tuesday.
I tried not to get too much into the game - once I knew I wasn't walking out with one I wanted my experience next Tuesday to be new for the most part. There was NO ONE in the game dept at all so had free crack at it. I really like the menus, although navigating them takes a little getting used to. First game I played was Lakers at 76ers, just to see Kobe and Iverson. The animations are ridiculously smooth - and everyone and their mother will be playing with the Lakers lol. You can't help but sit and watch to see what he's doing.
Stopped midway through the 2nd quarter to play the Wiz at the Nuggets to see how they modeled my man Gilbert. Wasn't feeling him; going to have to give it time though - played maybe a quarter with him. It definitely looks just like him in the face, but I imagine him being a little more "lanky" - hard to explain. Love his moves and shot though. What I played of that game was noticeably different from the 1st. I was playing as Brendan Haywood and it seemed Camby was purposely trying to post me up as much as he could. Saw some post up anims I have yet to see in the demo.
Let the CPU play itself and watched some of the Sonics vs. [somebody, can't remember]. Just wanted to see Allen's shot really. Love that VC aren't nickel and diming us and included some throwbacks and alternate jerseys; switched to alternate unis for this game. Only watched less than a quarter though.
Took the game into Practice mode and practiced with Kobe.
Last game I played Heat at the Lakers. I think BHS mentioned it but it deserves to be mentioned again - I switched to the Heat alternate red jerseys and look sweet in high def. Just the sheen, the look - amazing. It seemed like Wade actually had more moves than he does in the demo. He just looks so smooth to play with. I let the CPU take over midway through the 1st quarter and just watched; James Posey came in and started lighting it up. I watched the halftime show then walked away. Came back with maybe 1:30 left in the third and the Heat were down by six, I think. The crowd looked so cool; most were on their feet but some were sitting down. Figured I'd take over an get the Heat back into the game. Damn CPU started beating me WORSE lol (default AllStar). Was kinda embarrassing. But felt good.
Sorry for the long-windedness. Other than what I mentioned, I LOVE how the flow to the games vary. Oh forgot I played with the Suns at one point and they pushed it just as they do in real life. The arenas/lighting is fantastic; very impressive. The game is ridiculously smooth at 60fps; I noticed a lot of little animations that I hadn't seen in the demo. More layup animations in particular, although I'm still playing the demo and STILL seeing new stuff. I did notice passes being thrown off players, mostly in the CPU vs CPU play - just seemed weird because it doesn't happen much in the demo. Didn't happen a lot but guess someone may complain about that. Saw the graphical glitch where it looks like half the player's shorts are missing (happened once). And saw a slam dunk go through the back of the backboard (and another one that might've; didn't try to replay it). Outside of that I can't think of any real negatives. The gameplay is amazing - funny how much having to contend with fatigue and not having to worry about limited time adds to the game. Also the centers didn't seem as fast as they are in the demo. Still probably a tad too fast, but slower than they are in the demo - damn, wonder if it was my imagination. To be honest I was trying so many different things, was hard to keep track. Didn't have many people in that area of the store, but of the 5-6 that walked by (not counting store employees), each one remarked at how realistic the game looked. One guy was amazed because he thought it was a real game - he walked past TWICE. Two teenagers called their father over to look at it.
