Solution For CPU Sub Problem (Until The Patch Comes Out)

I have been using the fatigue/min scale found in Illustrators sliders:
    12mins - 52
    11mins - 53
    10mins - 54
    9mins - 55
    8mins - 56
    7mins - 57
    6mins - 58
    5mins - 59 or 60

So we all know that the computer subs his players out when they get into the 60's (or lower); so what I did was just add 5 to whatever the human's fatigue slider is set on.

Example: If I am playing 10 mins (Fatigue set @ 54); I would put the CPU's setting on 59.

It works perfect as well; wish I would have shared it with you earlier but it slipped my mind. The patch will eventually be here so it might not even be used.

But it does work. Take my word for it.

Alot of us already new about this temporary fix. Those fatigue #"s were posted several weeks ago in Biz's slider thread.

Good info for those who may not though. And yes they do work effectively.....

Are you referring to the fatigue numbers as the fix or the +5 as the fix?

Props to this technique. I have the cpu and human fatigue rate even for my own personal taste. Also I made a discovery which I'm sure you guys have already seen - it's the playing time attribute. It scales from 0 - 48 and it's the very last attribute on the edit player screen. I'm going to play around with this attribute a little later on today when I get off from work. I'm also going to check the stats on NBA.com and get minutes per game average for each player and set that attribute to it because common sense says the 0-48 scale represents a 48 min game scale.

I would like to know this as well. I asked about the playing time attribute a few weeks ago and wasn't able to get a clear answer on exactly what it does.

I played around with this attribute by lowering it to zero for some players and when I played against their team, that particular player still receved playing time. So, I'm not sure how this attribute works OR if it works at all.......

Maybe you can find out how it works after your tests later on.

It probably coincides with the "use bench" slider in the teams slider also.

                I did Philly's real quick.

A.I. was set to 44 by default and according to NBA.com he's already playing 44 mpg. If a player is at ##.5 I just rounded up.

I had to increase Kevin Ollies from 12 to 22 since he's starting this year therefore getting more playing time. I had to decrease Louis Williams from 10 to 0 since he's yet to play this year. C.Webb is 40 at default but he's only playing like 32 minutes a game this year so I decreases his to 32. etc.etc...When I get home tonight I'll actually play a game to see how it works out. Also if I'd suggest saving this in a separate roster file so you can test it against your original roster set.

I went to the extreme when I did my test.

The first team I tested was the Pacers. I was trying to get Foster in the rotation and limit the minutes of Harrison. I lowered Harrison's MPG to 0 and raised Foster's MPG.

However, the cpu AI still subbed in Harrison. Maybe I'm wrong but, if a players MPG attribite is set to "0" shouldn't the sub AI recognize this and not use this bench player during the game? Setting any players playing time attribute to 0 doesn't keep the player from being subbed in by the AI, for some reason.

I'll wait to see how your tests turn out......

Yea I had turned down Aaron McKie to zero; he played like 2-3 mins.

I mean the CPU needed someone to sub in; but they refused to sub in Jordan Farmar or Sasha. I was mad about this.

Re: Solution For CPU Sub Problem (Until The Patch Comes Out)

I had a chance to play a quick half with the sixers. Here some observations:

On default, Louis Williams is set to '10' playing time. I set his to zero. On default Williams saw some time in the first half. This time when I played with him set to zero, he didn't get in the game. Either A.I. or Ollie was in at the point. Also Korver played a significant amount of minutes in the first half. I believe his playing time is set to 30. I decreased Webber's from the default 40 to 32 since he's playing less minutes this year. Webber was on the court for 8 minutes of the first quarter (playing 9 min quarters) but miss the majority of the second (he came in with 3 minutes left in the 2nd and was not in foul trouble) I didn't have time to do a whole and I'm late for work lol. But from the first half i played it looks promising.

Sounds good but I didn't get those same results about a month ago when I tested. I probably did something wrong.

However, Korver is another guy that I would like to get in the game. I'm glad your adjustments enabled that. With the default MPG settings the Sixers never play Korver. They play Williams and the rookie SF/SG I forgot his name, and Korver isn't in the rotation.

Nice to know your initial edits helped this.

These theories seem to make sense. I played the Knicks last night and they seem to go to Francis off the bench very early ( not in place of Marbury, but whoever the other guard is.) and keep him in for awhile. Not sure what that attribute was set to for Francis but it seems realistic. I am playing 12 mins quarters though and am and have been getting realistic subs from day one. Am I one of the few playing on 12 min quarters still? Is anyone having sub trouble that IS playing w/ 12 min quarters?

I do not think the MPG attribute slider works correctly if at all.

I just played a half against the Sixers, after lowering Williams,Carney, and Green's MPG to 0. I play 11min. qtrs on superstar. Carney entered the game for Iggy with about 4min. left in the 1st half. Green came in towards the end of the 1st qtr. for Ollie and Williams was the only player set at 0 that didn't play as he shouldn't have.

For some reason Carney and Green are ahead of Korver in the cpu AI sub rotations for the Sixers, which is wrong. If I set a player's MPG attribute to "0" he should not be subbed in.

There are several sliders both for indivual player tendacies and game sliders that are not as responsive as they should be in 2k7. And I think you can add the player MPG slider/attribute to the list. It doesn't "seem" to do what it is supposed to. Hopefully, the devs will tighten up the existing sliders so that they all are more responsive and work as they should for 2k8.

What good are some of these sliders if they do not even work in game, as their descriptions indicate.

Maybe the roster update improves the player rotations for certain cpu controlled teams because, guys like Carney and Green should not be playing more MPG than Korver for the Sixers.

The in-game option for managing players MPG is not working for me. It would be a great tool if it did though.

Changing the fatigue slider does make the CPU sub more , but doesnt fix the real problem.

Your still playing against the CPU who is using players that are dead tired. Just because you make them tired quicker doesnt change the fact the CPU leaves guys on the court well into the 60's for stamina and pops them right back in once they hit the low 70's.

Raising fatigue merely speeds up this cycle giving the illusion the CPU is subbing more , but it doesnt really fix anything.
