I really doubt it's true. 1UP probably just slapped a date up there without any info from 2k. Waiting until 2 months into the season would be suicide. Even 2k's marketing department isn't that dumb.

WOW.

That's almost unbelievable.

Not out for seasons beginning is a massive mistake.

These guys are amazing. They take years to get to "number 1"...almost kill off the NBA Live series...

And now they sit back...come out with a release two or three months later than normal...while LIVE gets it's act together, possibly, and is already heavily promoting it's game.

Way to let your opposition back into the ball game fellas. This is like resting your starters for the first half of a playoff game.

If LIVE gets it's act together and is decent...most people will be content with that.

Just made a drink...thought about this a bit more before hitting 'post'. There's no way that can be correct.

Why not? I'm not saying it is true, but, historically, 2k has released sports games months into the season due to development issues. Maybe that's the case here. Maybe they're re-doing the graphics engine. I wouldn't mind waiting a few more months for a huge graphical jump from 2k7.

Normally I'd agree. However, they have other games on there with their correct release dates...LIVE 08 etc.

Also, there's been no media at all so far + nothing at E3.

None of the producers have been around here for ages either.

Maybe they've ran into some problems?

I know for a fact they're introducing a new graphics engine...maybe it's taken longer than they thought?

the only one i know of is the ps2 and xbox FIRST generation on the newer systems for nba2k2. the Dreamcast version was released on time. as were almost every release before and after that.

Sorry for the confusion, I wasn't referring to only the NBA series. There was at least 1 Sega Sports/Visual Concepts/2k baseball game that didn't get released until months into the season and possibly a football game. It's tough to remember which ones specifically, but I remember it happening and people being upset about it each time (I was one of them).

Glad to hear this isn't likely true. Still, I wouldn't mind a wait if it's worth it. I'd rather they make huge improvements year to year, even if it means a delay, than to make minor changes and charge $60 for practically the same game as the previous year.

I highly doubt that this game will be released in 2008. First and foremost, that'll give NBA Live a head start in sales which will make EA the winner in sales by a landslide. Even though 2K beat EA in basketball video game sales last year it wasn't by a large margin. 2K is not going to risk that accomplishment. Even if Live is crappy this season, EA would win easy in sales if 2K Sports released their game in January. Second, 2K would put a lot of pressure on themselves. If they released the game in January, the game would have to be 100 times better than last years version. And I don't think 2K would have that much time to make the game that much better. I would be happy with the game if that just made minor tweaks to the gameplay and franchise mode if they released it in October. BUT if they just did that and released it in January 2008 there would be a lot of pissed off fans. I highly doubt 2K Sports is ready to risk that especially when they are trying to gain ground on giant EA Sports.

C'mon guys. This game will be out end of September/early October. The same day as Live as the past several years. 2K knows EA is coming out full force this year. This should be a good year for sports.
