    ^^

Really comprehensive. I never knew you could intentionally shoot off the glass. I didn't also know tendencies affect percentages. Great post!

No problem. One of my biggest knocks on 2k is that they make this great gameplay system, but don't explain it. Most of this stuff isn't in the manual, and they force you to do it by trial and error. They need mini camps and videos to bring people into their gameplay system, and assist the learning curve.

my goodness dude you are so right! VC is like an idiot savante. They're pure geniuses when it comes to gameplay, but forget something, actually the most important aspect of videogames. Letting the consumer know the intricacies of the game. If we don't know about it, then its almost the same as not existing. If EA made 2k7 there would be videos all over the net, posters in all gamestops. this again takes us to 2k's horrible marketing strategy. Actually all they would need is a mini-camp like bornin just said.

I just want to know if some of you understand that people SHOULDN'T be shooting 50% or better on the regular. I am sure some of you that shoot 45% consider that, "they don't go in enough"
          Concrete evidence/videos please

            Vast: Agreed!

DCAllamerican: Percentages aren't ruled by the law of averages, they are ruled by offense vs. defense. So if you consistently get open shots for good shooters, you should consistently make those shots. When people ask for shooting tips, the answers are for these situations. In real life, you can look at the Pheonix Suns as an example. They shoot an extraorinary percentage when faced against teams that allow them to exploit their strengths. The game should be this way also, and not regulate percentages with rubber band AI.

What should happen is the AI adjusts to your exploits and forces you to take less desirable offensive options, such as leaving lower percentage shooters open. This is what's so great about Poppovich and his Spurs. Teams plan to leave Bowen open, but Pop makes sure that he's open in the spots that are going to leave him successful time and time again.

Now, if you read the tips I gave, they are all congruent with the scenario of being successful with high percentage open shooters.

Great post Born I completely agree with you. Hopefully now that defense is the focus for 2K8 VC will get rid of the rubberband A.I. and incorporate real defense into the game. Oh yeah I finally got the sig shot thing down. My biggest problem was I was rushing the shot because I trying to get it off before the defense could alter it. Now I'm focusing on watching the player as he goes up in the air and releasing when he gets to the top of his jump.

It was but as I said even in practice I was still routinely missing shots. I know I'm not the only one with this problem because I've been other sites where people have similar problems.

Man, I have no idea what they were thinking with the Release Indicators. They pretty much mean nothing. Whatever goes in is the perfect releae and if you play the animations consistently the shot will reflect that consistency. Whoever decided how and when it says "Perfect Release" or "Bad Release" needs to have someone pour soda on their keyboard. Either it's based on some system they haven't clued us in about, or it's completely broken because of the sig shots but either way I think the Indicator lowers shot percentages rather than assists in raising them, because of misdirection.
