    Re: New Info on 2K8

Nevermind I searched it (PAL) and it has no bearing on me.... but thanks Rongotai.

DECEMBER!! I feel your pain, and we in the states are complaining about October.

        Re: New Info on 2K8

I got this from 2k forum:

        - no visual differences on the first look compared with 2k7, only little tweaks in faces, kits and animations. looks amazing anyways

        - defense is stronger. dunking heaven is gone.

        - left trigger opens a quick menu where you can give orders like "give me a block" or "get yourself lose of your defender". your teammates will execute these orders at once

        - player cursor has changed to a line which is divided in 5 parts (-----)
this lines indicate if the controlley player is in a hotzone for a good shot.
nowitzkis lines are all green at the 3 point line for example

        - nba blacktop is a collection of mini games like dunk contest and 3point contest

        - plays (offense and defense) can be visualized on the court with lines which will show you how you have to play to execute the called play correctly

        - as a summary the say that 2k8 will once again kill live and hold the number 1 position in basketball games

        - graphic bugs like teared shorts have been reduced but couldnt get fixed completely

        - nka2k8 comes for ps3 and 360 with full online support

jerseys and stadiums shoulda got alot of attention if they arent going to fix the models this year. But is the play calling going to be like floor general in march madness? that would be nice, instead of having to pause and look at the play until u knew it by memory

That's not neccessarily true. Each year in 2k, you never know what to expect. On the other hand, for games like Winning Eleven, each year it gets better because Konami makes everything seem so professional.

And that new hotspot thing they added in 2k8? That's ********. Seriously. I don't get why they added that...

Just like the EA hotspots, it all depends on execution. It's not "********" in concept, because this is just another aspect of tendencies. Players have places on the floor where they are more comfortable than others, and some players are good from all over the place. Ideally, this would separate mediocre midrange shooters from excellent midrange shooters in a very strategic way. In real life basketball from playground to NBA, part of defense is keeping guys out of their "spots".

I feel like I read somewhere that is would be 60fps on XBOX 360 and PS3 - let me look for it.

Konami has been resting on there laurels since PES3. They create a couple of annoying gameplay features every year and then fix it for next year. 2K on the other hand, has undergone massive changes from year to year, generally improving it every time. As sports games go, 2K7 kills Pro Evo in terms of gameplay and presentation.

                              Lucky you PsychoBulk..

Anyway, I leave in the Philippines and US games come here usually 3 days after it is released in the US. Can't wait.. Just can't wait.. Hopefully they will bring the price a bit down here because they have a fixed price for every new game released. (Unlike US where there are consistent price tags)

If 2k would have used the 2k2 engine and just built up from there they would have a much better bball game in my opinion then what we have now. There is nothing wrong with what Konami has done because the engine resembles the true game of soccer so well that is perfectly fine and doesn't need to be changed, just updated.

Changing the engine every year hurts the product in my opinion because we are constantly getting new builds that each have their own faults instead of a good build one year that turns into perfection as the years progress.

IMO the current 2k engine has some innate faults within the player movement technology and physics that cannot be corrected by simple updates anyway.

And I dunno what you are talking about, Pro Evo kills 2k7 in gameplay. I know a game is great when I can constantly create new plays, see new animations and things that get me excited a year after the game comes out. That ended for me in 2k7 a few months ago, whereas I could play WE9 and still be having a great time. Sports games need a certain amount of freedom so that the user can have the feeling of creativity and not be restricted by the design of the game, so that you actually feel like you are playing the sport and constantly creating opportunities. 2K has had a problem with this since 2k2 (the last game in the series that had a realistic flow to it imo), whereas Konami nailed it and has no reason to completely change the engine.

                                The dynasty will return
