I don't think the engine needs to be changed, but EA is coming out with some pretty slick features for NBA Live. I stopped playing Live in '99, and for the first time in almost 10 years I am thinking about renting the game to check it out. Still gonna buy 2k9 though.

It doesnt need a new engine..but take madden for example, every year it may have something in it that kills the game experience,but it looks and feels completely different every year..

Is this post serious or is this a serious case of sarcasm?

It costs $13,000 for a full commercial license.

The Euphoria engine is part of the reason I thought the discussion was interesting. I'd think that any game company has to rethink their goals when new technology like this comes out. Just imagining the think tank that goes on at places like VC when they see something like this is very exciting.

2K has got to tighten up the game. With ball physics, player movement, spacing, foot planting and such. They have to clean it up.

I downloaded the Live 08 demo on psn today, just for fun. The game def. has its flaws and such. Bad animations, and poor ball physics. But, the game just feels so much cleaner and under-control. I think it's mainly footplanting. Idk really.

In 2K, it just feels like players are getting wherever they want way too quickly. Mainly on defense, its nearly impossible to get around someone. The defender just skates across the floor.

Another area thats needs to be tightened up is passing. This game has horrible passing. Seems like every pass is a lead pass, and its hard to hit someone for a spot up jumper because of it.

i think 2k has the best basketball engine out there. obviously there are a lot of problems and there always will be regardless of the engine. people will never be 100% satisfied no matter what.

in regards to affordability and improvements, i think it would be best if they made a lot of tweaks...those that WE want done. i don't just mean a few improvements in a patch, but major upgrades based on community interaction and involvement. they need to listen to everyone, especially to something like this as a lot of people brought up some of the biggest issues a lot of fans have...ball physics, player movement or collision detection. there just have been so many broken aspects to these games that have never been addressed. but let's face it, one of the big reasons for all of this is money. not everything can be done that we want...this is a business if you think about it all.

The 1 thing that would please me, if they did absolutely nothing else.

Can player weight and body contact matter please?

If I beat someone off the dribble and try to finish over someone, there should be some interaction between the 2 bodies...not just a dunk over the guy every time like he isnt there.

On of them, or both needs to be absorbing some contact. Stop having guys morph into each other like the defender isnt there.

yeah more body contact is a MUST! if they did that it wouldnt be so easy to get into the paint. also, i dont know what happened that they completely took out defensive post strength. it dont matter who im posting up with, i can back anyone down.

the engine is just fine. they just need to tweak some things
