BINGO!!!! This is what many seem not to understand. The ratings are not solely based on prior year performance, but they are heavily based on those statistics. Superstars seem to be the only exception to this rule, whereas track record is also taken into account.

All of those players are clearly better than Iverson.
Iverson was drafted the same year Kobe was drafted.. the same exact miles on both players(Kobe actually has more miles since he played more playoff games and had carried weaker teams).. Eric Snow has always been nothing more than a role player and has been past his prime for years.. while many suggested Iverson is not even remotely falling off his game and would produce as much with a defensive team... this was said by many nba commentators just last season...
Kobe at 2003>>> now IMO, but he's still the best player in the league...
Because his prime years(25-33) was with the Sixers......
What does Shaq have to do with anything?? Obviously Shaq was the best player in 2000.. but we're talking about today's lakers vs iversons 76ers/lebrons current cavs...
Anybody who watched both series would admit that the Cavs were a better matchup against the Celtics zone defense and strong perimeter play.. The Lakers outside of Kobe have defensive liabilities at every single position.. and remember the Lakers were also missing their starting center who was also their second best defender.
When did I bring up Shaq?Comment

Re: NBA 2K9 Screenshots: Player Ratings
How about the discussion of the forums going up or down be done in the neighbohood thread instead of this thread.
I have my own thoughts but i wouldnt mind contributing them to a thread where i wont have to move it or lock it for going too far off topic.
Why do i have to feel that, that is necessary, it is for the forums to stay readable.Comment

I wasn't claiming that Brand should be rated lower, I just think that Bosh, still having a better season than Brand should not have had his rating hastily decreased. They should first of all avoid overrating players, and then if they have a slightly sub-par year they won't decrease ratings unless a steady decline in stats, play time is seen over a few seasons. Also, Brand hasn't been in the league much longer than Bosh. Bosh, since becoming an allstar has consistently put up over 22 pts and about 10 boards per game; I think that is a good track record. Has anyone ever thought that the reason his boards decreased slightly was because he had more help from players like Jamario Moon and Nesterovic. That doesn't mean he is any worse a rebounder for example. I would also think that by now Chris would have enough respect by now to be called a superstar/franchise player.Comment
