Why do my player stop running when I pass them the ball? Help

I'm trying to run the fast break and when I pass the ball (with the A button) to my SF running down the sideline he stops or hesitates when receiving the ball. I'm using the 76ers, 2k camera on superstar level.

    Am I doing something wrong?

noticed the same thing also, many times they just stop running to the basket when clearly there's an open lane

I've had the same problem. It's a real killer on fast breaks.

Happens to me...haven't really found a solution but only thing I can think of is maybe it happens because you hit the R Trigger for turbo. Maybe if you just keep the left stick pushed in that direction your player will keep moving with no hesitation. Who knows?? If not, hopefully it'll be fixed in the patch.

It didn't happen on 2k8 like it does on 2k9.

            2k8's lead passing was >>>>>>>>>>>>>>> 2k9's.

They don't even roll off picks and keep going after receiving the pass on 2k9.

The manual states that your supposed to use direct passing to lead a player but I should be able to lead a guy with a directional pass with the A (360) button. The CPU completes these passes with ease.

How is 2k sports with patches. Do they wait months before one is dropped? Also do they look for community input before they release a patch? The last EA patch for Madden was mostly composed of fixes to community complaints.

A patch just came out for PS3.

Another thing that's sort of annoying with breaks is that, sometimes, your players seems to get stuck in some sort of off-balance running animation that allows the CPU to keep up. You don't really see this happen to the CPU.

this issue is very annoying and has plagued basketball games for years...for some reason the developers haven't figured out how to make a guy continue running while catching the basketball. you'd think by now they'd have this figured out - it seems like it should be pretty easy to just program the players to continue moving at full speed while catching and then smoothly transition into dribbling without any pause or slow-down in their steps.

Thanks for pointing this thread out. I always wondered why they stop like that. In 2K8 alot of times the runner will do an automatic cross over that makes them slowdown allowing the defender to catch up. The only work around I found is pass the ball right before your teammate hits the paint to immediately trigger the layup/dunk animation.

And that off balance dribbling animation is annoying also especially with teams who play a running game. I think that dribble animation should of been used when the guy starts getting tired.

This issue has been around since the Dreamcast games.

It's amazing that they still haven't fixed it.

I think it's actually gotten worse this year, for some reason.

It becomes especially annoying when you're passing the ball around the basket and people take two seconds just to square their shoulders and take the ball up strong (usually resulting in a block) when the move and shot should be an instantaneous reaction.

Turns out nothing but Americans being able to play online with Europeans on the PS3. At the time I thought it might be doing something bigger.

One thing that can help but doesn't necessarily fix this problem is touch passing to another player while on a break but obviously this requires you to have 2 people out running the break.

Other than that, This issue pisses me off as well everytime I try to run a fast break.
