What I love about 2k9!

1.Highlights showing players who are playing great during the game and time outs.

2.Stadium specific audio with the stadium announcers and stuff. Nice touch!

3. Amount of animations on player movements!

other than that, absolutely nothing. Game plays terrible.

i dont get the hate.
people want perfection. its never going to happen..
but for a legit nba experience...ive never played a better game.
i started a new season with the thunder. i hadnt touched the game in 2 weeks... and straight away i was like "this is a great game".
played the bucks. beat them. ridnour scored 30pts on me..but so what...he took what the defense gave him, caught fire and kept coming. the gameplay is fine.
sure there are issues.. but name 1 game that doesnt.
and really. a lot of these issues are in the eye of the beholder. and pretty nitpicky really.

What I love about 2K...

1. Sig styles - self explanatory....

2. IMO the AI is very intelligent and makes for a great game against the cpu with the right roster and slider tweaks.

3. Association could be deeper but I still think its pretty deep...

4. Less cheese........There's still cheese but I'll take this over the lead passing, standing dunk madness of 2K9.

Overall, I do think its the best basketball game I've ever played......It covers every area of NBA Basketball very well to me.......

of course i'll ALWAYS say association mode can be deeper but... I like the whole NBA.com theme & i see the potential that it will become in future titles. its the groundwork for a lot of the things that are in our "association mode" wishlist for 2010 & on.

realistic MVP running, rumor mill, headlines, etc.

i'm also STILL seeing new animations to this day.

amout of editable control (we could still have a lil more) but they gave us a LOT this year (example - editable prospect just cuz we asked for it in leiu of no CH09)

Some things that stood out to me last night while playing:

- Individualized players. From the various dribble and dunk packages to the sig shots, lots of things to make the players feel unique. Love Shaq's power slams low, or how players like Chris Paul/Tony Parker/Allen Iverson/etc. all have their own distinctive feel.

- Presentation. Really too much to name, from the crowds (towel and finger waving; thundersticks on opponent free throw attempts; unique arena chants; etc.), players able to interact with the sidelines/bench/refs/coaches; appropriate coach and player reactions to baskets or foul calls; the amazing job done with how the players seamlessly interact for celebrations (chest/fist bumps, high fives, low fives, players helping others up off the court, varied anims players display when walking to the bench after a timeout is called); etc. And all in real time. Even the jumbotrons or whatever they're called are tracking real time stats, 2K doesn't cut away to them enough. Almost left out the end of quarter/end game highlights and individual player highlight packages. Lots of stuff not being done by other games that's easily taken for granted

- Gameplay options. Various practice options that many probably haven't even thought to try to use (scrimmage, running plays, etc.); Blacktop mode, which is pretty enjoyable in a slightly more realistic [and distinctive] NBA Street kind of way, with it's various options (21, dunk contest, 3pt contest). Various online modes.

1. I am playing College Hoops and I simmed a Legacy Season. I am in the Team Stats page, and by a simple click of the RT/LT; I can see the stats of the opponents of the teams listed. Keep in mind this is CH2K8.

Look at the statistical categories that are here that are NOT in any offline modes. Bench scoring? Starter's scoring? Record when leading/trailing going into the 4th?

imo... the whole NBA.com IS cosmetic BUT it is the foundation for a deeper & better presentation of what u speak of above.

The reason we can see the award contenders is because of the "NBA.com thing", the reason there is a "true percentage stat" & efficiency stat", "streak stat" & many other things that are present this year is because of the whole "NBA.com thing". i think they just didn't get to expound on it this year & i'm SURE the College Hoops guys have a FULL year to getting that aspect poppin next year!

They had the Awards Race in previous years without NBA.com ROnyell. Check 2K7 and 2K8

The other stats are there but I won't say they are there BECAUSE OF the NBA.com feature

Hands down one of the deepest and most customizable sports game out there. With most sports game you know after a month or so, you will get bored with the game unless you play online.

But with NBA 2k9, this game never gets boring, whether you play online or offline. That is what I like the most about it, playing the CPU is actually fun and challenging.

Plus they really captured the atmosphere of a NBA playoff game. From the fans, player reactions and all that. Animations are top notch.

Because I have played the other NBA games, Live and Inside Drive and all the players on there seem to play the same way, with the same moves, shots, dunks and all that. There is no individuality on their games like it is on NBA 2K9.

Oh the online leagues, roster sharing and slider sharing online is one of the best features ever created for a sports game.

2K9 is better than 2K8 no doubt, it just might have worse problems.

Bottom line is even with the problems, it is a better game in many aspects.
