Re: I Have Completely Fixed Every Problem With CPU Play/Assoc Stats/PITP/Shots Off Dr
Has anyone experimented with what happens with all the sliders at 0. Then only the players with high attributes in a certain area will do certain things. In theroy, it would be better than putting them all at 100, which I have heard of people doing with limited success. 100, may force players to do things outside their character, where zeros would basically make players play WITHIN their character with minimal risky plays. That should result in both realistic stats and playing conditions for both User v CPU and CPU v CPU games. Higher rated attributes should have a realistic doninance over lower, then the situational agression should come down too. I will try this tonight and let you know...Jackmouve | PSN | [email protected]Comment

Re: I Have Completely Fixed Every Problem With CPU Play/Assoc Stats/PITP/Shots Off Dr
I read the beginning of this thread and knew right off the bat that turning the sliders to 100 would just make people force things, so I took your idea and made my own hypothesis.
I set all the global cpu offensive tendencies to 50, except for "look for post players" and "triple threat", which are set to 70. In the coach profiles I lowered the offensive tempo to 45, set the 4 shooting tendencies to 60 and run plays to 70. What happened was a great, intelligent offense ran by the cpu. Their top scorers actually took the majority of shots in a variety of fashions, including a couple in-air passes from the post to the perimeter. That game actually went to triple overtime, which I lost on a buzzer beating 3 from Richard Jefferson off an inbounds play where all my players decided to double the receiver of the inbounds pass.
What I think is happening is that by setting the global tendencies and the coach tendencies to equal amounts, respectively, allowed the players individual tendencies to control the action more. I added some compensation from the look for post players/triple threat tendency sliders to get some more one on one isolation-like possessions. I saw many shots off the dribble, a good variety of mid range shots, fallaways and isomotion moves, including some driving and kicking.
In short the game was very dynamic. It didn't work perfectly for the second team so I lowered the coach profile shooting tendencies to fix a small problem with Mike Miller trying to shoot leaning 3 pointers whenever he received the ball.
I wonder if lowering the coach profile shooting tendencies may have a better effect for isolating the top scorers of each team, like Jackmouv suggested, but not all the way to 0.Comment

Something else to keep in mind about the sliders is that real NBA stats are based on 12 quarters with team specific rotations. So if you are playing 8 min quarters the stats will be different, same if you are playing the starters more and using a bad rotations. If you really want to get down and dirty, you should be setting the player rotations to what they actually average in minutes and set your sliders based on 12 minute quarters. Then realize that if you play 8 min quaters the stats will be scaled accordingly. If you try to make the game put up 12 min stats in 8 mins, you are basically trying to put a square peg through a round whole. And this assumes that you play at a "Real" NBA pace.Jackmouve | PSN | [email protected]Comment

Re: I Have Completely Fixed Every Problem With CPU Play/Assoc Stats/PITP/Shots Off Dr
Bottom line............you are NEVER going to find sliders 100% to your liking. Being that everybody plays the game differently and not everybody uses official rosters or up to date rosters.
So find some sliders that is similiar to your style and just tweak it more to fit you. Same thing goes with play books.
Far as putting tendancies and what not all at 100, that is a no no. At 100 it make teams play out of character. Be better off putting it at 0. At 100, everybody on the team will try to play like Jordan and do stuff they normally wouldn't do.
I have also learned, you can't use the same sliders for cpu vs cpu as you would for quick games. You got to have a different set.
So if you an association nut, you need your own sliders. And if you play quick game, you need your own sliders for that game mode.Comment

Yeah, I think my suggestion with the zeros will only work if they are ALL set to ZERO. Raising even one will result in needing to raise something else to balance that and so on and so on.... Making them all zero will (should) force them to play to their individual strengths and within what is dictated by the coach (coaches sliders).Jackmouve | PSN | [email protected]Comment

Now these sliders and game tendencies look interesting, I think I may give these a try. P-Dub you should make a seperate thread with these settings and see what peoples result are after trying them.I read the beginning of this thread and knew right off the bat that turning the sliders to 100 would just make people force things, so I took your idea and made my own hypothesis.

Re: I Have Completely Fixed Every Problem With CPU Play/Assoc Stats/PITP/Shots Off Dr
I lowered all the teams 3pt shooting in the coaches profile down to 20, except the Knicks, Warriors, and Magic cus they shoot a lotta 3's in real life. The teams still shoot 3's just not so many. Before I did that teams were shooting 45-55 3pt shots per game. But still what works for me might not work for you and vice versa. Everyone plays the game differently.Comment

Re: I Have Completely Fixed Every Problem With CPU Play/Assoc Stats/PITP/Shots Off Dr
Keep in mind that this is only setting all the TENDENCIES to zero. You could use the sliders from this post, then set all tendencies to zero and try that. I played around with them for 8 hours last night and this is what I found: Using All-Star and 12 minute Qtrs and playing CPU Verses CPU with Latest Official Rosters. Of the 20 first Qtr games I watched with different teams, team were averaging 26 points (low was 16 T,MIN @ LAL and high was 37 CLE @ PHO) all other stats looked legit as well, aveg steals leader was 1, aveg ast leader 2.5, aveg blk leader 1.2 most teams had pretty legit shot and scoring distribution, just seemed to be a clean AND exciting game, made minor tweaks from notes I took on each game, and the final game which I watched all the way through: LAL @ CLE... OT Final 129 - 130, LBJ hit a 17 footer with 4 seconds to go and after a TO Kobe put up a 24 footer that rimmed out, but looked good all the way. Kobe went for 38, 8 rebs and 9 ast and LBJ went for 32, 7 rebs and 11 asts, each team had at least 5 double digit scorers and I didn't really see any stale play, ball holding or any of that.
So, you can use the sliders from this post and then adjust the tendencies down or I have uploaded my Final sliders (Official VBA Sliders) but again these sliders are based on 12 min QTRs.
Oh and also keep in mind that even with the same sliders you can get different results with different settings and coaching sliders. Which to my knowledge you can't upload. I wish they would include updated Coaching Sliders with the Living Rosters that are base on the teams current roster and playing style. Does anyone know if the Coach Sliders are updated with the official Rosters?
And way let me know if you want to know my Settings as well if you try my Sliders.. With all the info we should have a definitive set of sliders soon... LOLJackmouve | PSN | [email protected]Comment
