This happened to me about this time last year. At first I thought it was a software glitch too but I backed up all my save files to a USB. After formating everything and seeing that it still did not work, I called my gf to see if she still had a recipt because she gave me the PS3 for my Christmas present. She did not have a recipt but she had a credit card statement that showed the purchase and luckily I was still under the warranty so I went to the PS3 site and they went me a box and I sent it to them and they sent me a fixed PS3 within about a week. I havent had any problems since then.

Re: Depressing!!
If you're as serious about gaming (and addicted) as I am. You should get a buyer's protection plan when you get a console. I bought my original Xbox 360 from Best Buy w/ protection plan. It died on me a year later--no video just black screen. I took it back to Best Buy and got a brand new one the same day and resumed playing 2K9.Comment
