Man...that commentary is freaking awesome

Game 7 specific stuff...big plus.

I only watched a few mins as I don't want to ruin the surpirse factor when I play etc...but it looks good.

To those saying the crowd is flat...trust me, I've said this for a couple of years based on vids + playing myself without surround sound.

But...put NBA 2K in a 5.1 surround sound set up and the atmosphere is amazing.

LOL...Every single basketball game in existence has needed sliders. People act as if its going to take hours of playing to tweak the sliders. ****, guys like Pared who have the game already have given people a baseline on how to get realistic FG% numbers.

Complain about something that cant be fixed with a slider tweak like the pick and roll defense or alley oops....not this.

you know what nba 2k2 suffered from? High shooting %s and not enough fouls? You know what else that game didnt have? SLIDERS.

Some will never be happy... Sliders are a fabric of the basketball gaming world since 2k3.

now that sliders are here and have been here, many dont want to use them?

yea thats what i did with the demo and it was comparied to the "other game" and i know you gonnia say "o its just the demo. but understand all you are missing is the commentary which will all but come from just the center speaker.

I don't want to kill you, you're just too much fun. This is how i feel about the forum sometimes, Man it's funny as hell to see everyone go at it. People making excuses and others not thinking for themselves because they already have their mind made up. I for one have an open mind, but when it comes to defending a game people don't seem to have an open mind.

It seems that it's all about who wants to be right and who wins the discussion these days, instead of just conversing maturely and just respecting the other guys opinion.

You and I have been around long enough to know the deal. There isnt a game around that doesnt need sliders to make it more realistic. I dont care if you are playing Live or 2k10. I promise you that after a week, Stumbleweed will be using sliders for whatever game he buys. Either that or he truly doesnt want a realistic experience. Neither game will give you that out of the box.

That preference v. realism argument doesnt work. You lower the game speed because the game plays too fast out of the box and thats not realistic. By lowering the game speed you are attempting to make the game more realistic. Its the same as lowering FG%.

Haha, the best part is that I specifically said, "I'm not saying the game is broken and will suck in the final retail" and still get this response... hilarious. Again, just commenting on what was posted, which is insane percentages, the video evidence, and a claim that it was played on All-Star... nothing more.

Anyway, I would argue that game speed as it functions in these games isn't something that can be definitively measured and then adjusted to be more "realistic" -- I simply prefer a slightly slower game since I enjoy working the halfcourt offense and being as strategic as possible, and a slightly lower game speed makes it a little bit easier. If I was in the mood for a quicker game with more isolation and action, I'd probably leave it at default or kick it up a bit... that's a different animal from having to pare down 75+% FGs to a reasonable 42-52% by adjusting shooting sliders.

Anyway, that's it from me. Just wanted to respond since you asked me direct questions. Enjoy the game guys, I'll be on board after first patch most likely to try My Player... will be around for some of the created player Team-Up games probably.



EDIT: I'll report back on that, Aaron. I play the Live demo on All-Star or Superstar with no adjustments most of the time (lower the game speed when I remember to) and have a blast with it. I actually don't think I'll be messing with sliders this year, since I'm predisposed to not liking them and didn't really feel a need to adjust anything in the demo (IMO shooting %s were fine and the gameplay didn't make me want to reach for a slider to address any specific issue). At least they give us 2KShare/EA Lockers and all that these days, I definitely wouldn't mess with sliders if I had to go in there and do them manually... ick.

Props to those that do those adjustments though... not an easy job.

Has anybody read pasta's nba live demo impression? He was pretty critical there as well. And that was just the demo. Sorry to say it, but he doesn't have an agenda here. Gotta call a spade a spade. 2k10 has flaws, I don't see how that's so hard to believe. If gameplay vids aren't enough proof, then just wait until the game comes out. Of course, people will forget about the flaws that were pointed out earlier and just enjoy it. Just don't whine about these problems (which pasta already pointed out) later on. There will be people here to say I told you so.

I've seen reference to how sliders can fix these crazy shooting percentages quite easily. Has anyone uploaded a video with sliders in effect to create ~50% shooting? I'd love to get a glimpse of that, especially after watching the nets set on fire in this video.

I dont want to turn this into a Live demo thread but I have to respond. I played the hell out of that demo and I think its pretty good but it has some huge issues. Screwed up rebounding logic where players are letting the ball hit the ground. On a number of plays seeing guys like Howard taking 20ft shots early in the shot clock on Superstar. PG like Nelson dribbling at the top of the key for almost the entire shot clock. Now these are things that would make me go crazy if I played the game with no slider tweaks. But did I go to the Live forums and complain about this? No because I believe these issues can be fixed with sliders.

The fact that you would be ok with those issues in Live makes me question whether you really want a realistic experience. Every game is going to have flaws out the box so its useless for me to judge a game based on a video or demo or blog. I love the Show but even that game need some slider tweaking so that it was realistic and fun for me.

Finally the adjustments arent hard AT ALL. Most of the time I just wait a few days and wait until someone posts sliders as a baseline and tweak from there. I'm not looking for perfection just something thats close to realism. ****, I dont think I touched a slider on 2k9 after October. I found what I liked and played with it.

i can't see myself playing a game without sliders. imagine seeing this then having no sliders? sliders give every single player a lot of customization to make changes to a game so they can play exactly how they want. since not everyone has the same skill level or preferences, and default settings are never perfect, they're pretty much essential IMO

Ray Allen's screenshot here at OS looks absolutely atrocious: arguably the worst of the bunch (and there were some real doozies). But he looks completely realistic in these vids. After seeing these, I'd say his model is better than 2K9's.
