Re: Official NBA 2k10 Impressions Thread

As a player I'm gonna tell u that 4 the most part, it's absolutely unacceptable 2 have ur jumpshot blocked period! If ur an NBA level player...hell, even if ur just a really good recreational player, there are only certain occasions where your jumpshot should be blocked. With time running down on the clock and ur forced 2 put it up quick, perhaps someone running out @ u can get a hand on the ball. Even still as a ball player, if u see the defender coming, u shouls be able 2 adjust on the fly and get it over their hands. Even if u miss bad, 9/10 ur shot shouldn't get blocked. Another scenario is if a player catches u from behind or a blind spot. That's rare and there's not much u can do about that. What's even more rare is if a player just plays impecable one-on-one defense and blocks ur shot. This might have happened 2 me once in my life (by a guy 6'8"...I'm 6'3") because u either pass out of the shot or throw it off their body. Jumpshots being blocked is NOT something u should see often in a basketball game. The only reason it was seen so much in 2K (especially 2K9) was because of the delay from the time u press shoot 2 the moment the character actually elevated 4 the shot. This has been improved upon but still hasn't been totally ironed out. A good offensive NBA player has worked his entire life on perfecting techniques on how 2 get their shot off against all types of defenses. So while I expect 2 see shots getting rejected in certain scenarios, it's 4 damn sure not something I wanna get used 2 seeing or have 2 worry about if I'm on offense. Force me into a bad shot...cool. Even make me shoot an airball but (as in 2K9) 2 get my shot blocked cause of flaws in the game (squaring up, bending over, giving clear indications that the shot's coming)...I don't wanna see that!

Is it happening playing the CPU or against another user?

Do you see any weirf come backs. because all the games i played were either really close. Or a major blowouts. Even in the blowout. They never seriously made a come back.
In the two games since I turned it off..I destroyed the Celtics by 20, and they were so demoralized by the 4th that it seemed like they quit on of Doc Rivers . My other game was a nail biter that was back and forth between the Thunder and Bobcats. As I understand it. Clutch Factor being on allows for the superstars to go into beserk mode, especially late in the 3rd and 4th quarters. I didnt notice K.D. flip a switch and all of a sudden get hot, when he had been cold the entire game. In our online leagues last year, we too, turned Clutch Factor off, and although runs still happened, it was not because of Clutch Factor. Instead it was on the ignorance of the user, failing to call timeouts, use the coaching emphasis options, etc.

I didn't have any of my shoots blocked. when I played a human and when I played CPU. I understand what rebel_ins is saying. but I don't know guys. It sounds like user thing. Is rebel_ins saying we shouldn't be able to block shots the way we are right now. Or is he sayign we shouldn't get a block. But the player should miss more enough then get his shot block. Which to me makes more sense to me.

He is saying the defense should not being able to recover super fast to block a shot after biting on a pumpfake, and thus taking them out of position. Last year, the shot releases being so slow, and not having foot planting by the defense, allowed for the defender to jump, recover, and jump again to block shots that they had no business blocking because of some of the ridiculously slow releases, which have been adressed this year.

Man....I use to say the same thing.....But no one listen to me. They always blamed it on Momentum. And would ask "is clutch factor on?"..lol....2k forums...can mess a man's brain up....lol jk

yeah see thats the thing, im a lakers fan, and i can definately tell u that those clowns last year did that with every lead, slowly and slowly the other team would come back, cuz of how they played

u also saw it last year when the cavs would go up by 25 on the magic, and then...........tie game in the 4th

so it does happen, and i think it happens quite often, but it shouldnt happen ALL THE Time, all about adjustments i suppose, really a team that keeps the blow out is when the other team simply cant make shots, or the other team is superior in defense across the board

hard to capture it in a game tho???? there must be some formula they can use to dynamically produce results

Oh I thought he was saying the precentage of blocks on jump shots should come down. And the precentage of missed shots when a hand is in your face or contest shot should be happen more often than a block.

Nah, it's not a problem I'm having. I saw it more in 2K9...maybe once or twice in 10. I just saw someone post something that insinuated that players shots SHOULD be getting blocked due 2 slow releases that they were given. I think next year 2K should take a page out of Live's book and incorporate that early/late shot release along with the ability 2 stop on a dime and pull up. While it's much better this year I still 2 see players going thru all those extra motions just 2 shoot a jumper on the move.

Yes, this is definitely there this year. Add to that the step back was partially useless last year because of the slow releases.

I noticed it's beneficial to practice the release points of the players on your favorite team. I thought I was in "perfect release" form every time with CB4 until I started playing around in practice mode. Some players, you really got to release the shot stick quicker than with other players. Seems to be a bit more sensitive than 2K9, but I could be wrong.

One thing I'm annoyed with is the auto post up. Once in this mode, the controls seem somewhat unresponsive. Player seems to go into a chain of animations that you can't break (on certain moves). I especially noticed this when practicing post moves. You should be to be able to post on demand. 2K needs to address this next season. Post moves on demand should be relatively easy to pull off. Perhaps I'll get the post moves down with more practice, but auto post up was definitely a mistake. I already miss not being able to use LT to post up.

I have to agree with you on this one...the step back move for Kobe was almost useless on HOF his shot was so slow

I'm having a huge problem with that. Because when I'm trying to call plays with my PG. I usually press L2 to protect the ball. But without it. I haven't been able to calls the way I want to. sucks....
