Re: Official NBA 2k10 Impressions Thread

I had a moment of clarity after while playing my association as the lakers last night.
I stopped trying to use isomotion. Simply walk past them, then press turbo to create some separation.

An immediate improvement was felt. I am now comfortably beating the cpu by an average of 20pts. I'll try upping the difficulty to superstar, and fingers crossed I wont be blown out!

The PC version looks great but they did nothing to support Xbox 360 controllers. I can't get my fix to work for the game because they changed the controller menu.

But what kills me is the little things that are still not fixed for years. Off handed finishing prowess, silhouettes, half court change of speeds, overhead passes.....

Not to mention the changing of the left trigger button.

Surprisingly I am disappointed. I just thought the game would be more complete with the small things.

At least they updated the play call system. I am sure I will begin to like the game, the CPU AI is so much smarter in terms of positioning and taking real NBA type shots. But I anxiously awaited this game and feel a lot less enthused than others, which surprises me because I am usually one of the more content gamers around here.....at least I was with 2k9.
2k9 doesn't hold a candle to 2k10, i mean i never played the PC version and the mods made for that title, but on 360 there is just no comparison.

My suggestion is to find a good slider set and trust that this version is the truth. Maybe not right out of the box, but the tools are there to mold the game into the greatest BBall game yet to be released.

I can only imagine what the PC modding community can do with this title.

With the slider set i have now on 360, i've never played a more realistic and fun basketball game in my life.

If the patch tightens up the interior defense, reducing the lead passing success, without changing the rest of the game. i basically wouldn't need another basketball game for offline play.

Re: Official NBA 2k10 Impressions Thread

The main thing that is wrong with this game is what every gamer wants/should expect in any game especially in the year of 2009:

          CONTROL.

The control in this game is ****ing awful. I've tried everything with the sliders to get rid of the stuck in cement/stuck in animation feeling. If I'm helping my stupid teammate who isnt guarding his man who is cutting backdoor so the pass doesnt go there, and then I try to get back my man, its nearly impossible to do because theres a 2-3 second holdup where my player is stuck in the ground and cant move. Its ridiculous. Thats the main reason for the open shots and lead passing on the user side of things.

With the CPU on the users team, theyre just stupid, theres no other way to put it. In real life youre supposed to collapse on a penetrator and try and get back if he kicks it out, they collapse and then like in the previous paragraph, they get stuck or just dont try and go back, and other times they shade before the ballhandler makes a move and dont go back to their man opening up an open shot.

Its nice 2k tried to fix the help defence so there is a drive and kick game and it works sometimes, but when theres no control of your players theres no point.

I dont think I've ever played a game on any console where animations took over your control of your player. It makes no sense.

2k has really dropped the ball the last 2 years in the most important aspect of gameplay in any game and its really disappointing to me.

Lower defensive assist to zero in the controller settings window. that issue of yours should go away.

I did that a long time ago. It still does that. The players are methodical and slow. I tried upping the quickness slider and that didnt change anything. Its like everyone is Shaq out there on defence when trying to close out.

This problem wouldnt be so apparent either if the CPU was as smart on the users side as they are as fully controlled by the CPU. Its embarrassing how stupid the CPU is on defence.

I dont see the issue with slow players on defense that your having.

there is however the issue where your a.i. teammates not being that smart on defense, so i raised the defensive awareness slider to like 60-65. tweaking that slider fixed most of my issues.

i see this issue as well. i just tend to ignore it like everyone else in an effort to enjoy the game.

i used to pause the game to see how I could get better, but more than likely its CPU error 90% of the time, so getting better is useless. im glad some people see what i see

I'm not seeing any slow players on defense. I did a few slider adjustments and this game is playing great, much better than it was out of the box. The one thing about the sliders is that they actually work.

It's a shame that the sliders actually working is a praise to the game lol...but the do work beautifully....no more "man i hope this works" going into games. I know exactly what im getting.

Why is it a shame? shouldn't they work? The point of having sliders is to be able to adjust the game to your liking and to make it more of an NBA simulation (like high shooting percentages, etc.). Isn't that a positive? From hockey to baseball to basketball 2k rarely plays great out of the box but they do a marvelous job with their sliders. It boggles my mind how some people (not you) see working sliders as a negative. It's a great option to have.

Yeah I get it. It's great that they work in both NHL and NBA2K10.

I like the fact that after cpu vs cpu games we can watch the signature highlights. I missed it if it that was possible last year.

i must retractmy earlier statements about this game. This game is alot better than i first stated!! Im waiting on the patch for the framerate issue, but this game is a beast. Im glad i bought both games, because what one lacks, 2k makes up for it big time! Im really enjoying the game now after the dust settled.....
