My Player - Any other Pass-First Point Guards?

Is it just me, or is this style of player a genuine challenge? I'll have to try My Player mode with other positions to get a good feel for it, but so far I'm impressed with the difficulty.

Haha, I made a 5'10" pass first PG and I'm starting to realize why I'm not in the NBA in real life . I've played the 6 summer games, and a couple D-league matches, and I must say, you really have to earn your skill points as a pass-first PG. This mode is very addictive; I really want to see my player through but it is going to take a LONG while to get into the league at this rate.

Anyone else create a pass-first pg? Share your impressions?

I plan on creating myself. 5'6 scoring PG, but then work on developing my player from a scoring PG to a pass-first/balanced player over time. I already know it'll be tough due to my size, but I'm up for the challenge. I won't have draft combine to help start off either. Just gotta wait for the PC release now..

Assists do very little for your grade, while a bad pass absolutely murders it.

So it's hard. But it's still fun.

I tip my hat to you. I'm 5'6 too, haha, but I took some liberties with my player and bumped up to 5'10 because I didn't want THAT much of a challenge. We're aiming for quite similar players, but we're taking opposite routes, I'm starting with a pass-first/balanced approach and want to develop into more of a scorer in time. Who knows, maybe I'll start over and revert to 5'6; I hear you get more points the more undersized you are for your position .

fffffffff9, thank you for putting into words my exact thoughts. That's the reason I wanted to start this thread, but I couldn't spit it out. It feels like you can dish 10 assists in 5 minute quarters, but if you make 1 or 2 turnovers it cancels out those 10 dimes.

no point really..you can create an athletic PG and have 90 passing, 90+speed, 90 vertical, 85+ mid range+99 quickness within first quarter of a season

Yep. Created myself as a 5'9" PG (which is accurate to me) and it's absolutely one of the most challenging things I've gone through in a video game. Yeah - assists mean little to nothing on your overall performance. Good passing, good position, getting rebounds, good shot selections is what's key. And, as you said, DO NOT MAKE BAD PASSES/TURNOVERS. Going from a B+ to like a C has hurt my heart many a time.

I'm still like a 48 OVR and in the D-League. It's taking FOREVER.

            Yet I still love it.

I remember trying that exact position in the NBA Draft Combine.

Yes. It was the most difficult for me as well. It seems significantly easier to acquire assist for all other types of play styles within the PG position.

Re: My Player - Any other Pass-First Point Guards?

i made my guy 5'11. right now im back up in the d-league on a team that is 6-0. i hate that stupid sim glitch when im in every dead ball so i watch the game until i get in (takes forever on 9 min quarters).

my tip is to not worry about the overall, although that is the only way to get in the nba. i got my ball handle up to 99 and passing to 94. i can break down any defender, drive to the lane and either lay it up or dish it out. it ups your assists and i average 16 point 16 assists a game (not trying).

i finally got my mid range game up to 90, so now i can shoot from the outside which increases my "good shot selection" when im open. and i got my on-ball defense up to 85, so im a solid defender. gotta get my 3 game and speed/quickness up now.

i think when you join crews, ppl will appreciate that pass-first mentality point guard. i have no problem w/ 10 points 15 assists.
