Works 100% of the time for me and other users on the 2K forum have reported this as well.

Steps:
Edit sliders to liking
save game sliders, user profile, settings
go to my player, select continue, choose to import from the 2k servers. You'll have to start new.

I'll post a vid later if it doesn't work for you guys.
