    Recommended Subs: A Bad Feature?

I agree Ice Cube, here's the breakdown:

If I'm at a restaurant ordering food and the waiter recommends the lobster, I can either adhere to his suggestion or decide I want something else. I ignore his recommendation, order the duck & that is exactly what I receive.

In NBA 2K10 (and 2K9) their recommended subs aren't suggestions, rather, they're automatic subs in the guise of being personnel advice. Once they give their "recommended" lineup it is up to me to change what they instituted otherwise I'll have a whole new lineup out there on the floor.

So why give users the option of choosing manual substitutions if by default you have a feature that will do automatic subs anyway? If this feature born in 2008 isn't eradicated altogether at the least give users the option to turn if off.

    Thoughts?

Hi Guggy, absolutely....my setting is always manual subs.

*Stephen A. Smith voice* HOWEVA, despite specifying manual the Recommended Subs feature will still automatically substitute for you as they see fit.

ohh i see. yeah that doesnt make sense then. so even when you have manual subs on you have to change the recommended subs back to what you want? it sounds like there is no difference between manual and auto. on auto you still have the option to override it and substitute manually.

          I've never had this problem.

When I chose manual subs, if I dont take anyone out, they will play until I'm down by 60 due to my players not being able to stay in front of anyone due to fatigue.

            Strange but interesting.

I think the worst part is when you're in a tight contest and they take your best player out in crunch time to replace him with an 11th man who hadn't seen any playing time up until that point.

I'd say 4 out of 10 games this RC subs dilemma rears it's ugly head.

I've never had a problem with the auto subs. I rarely do manual subs. Kobe gets taken out usually at the beginning of the 4th (as per real life) and is back in to finish the game. I've never had him miss the end of a game in crunch time due to auto subs. Only if its a blowout, then my scrubs get subbed in automatically to finish the game. IMO, 2K put some great logic into the auto subs.

You accidently hit the sub button. Make sure to set it to "on court" and you will be able to sub without auto subs. This has happened to me as well
