Re: How old are you folks?

I didn't have any $$ for video games when I was younger, so I really olnly got into gaming as a working adult.

My wife is just about the most laid back, calm person I've ever met...so there's no dramas when i boot up the PS3 and settle in for a few hours. She's a big 'reader', so she likes to read for a while anyway.

The big test for me will be that our first baby is on it's way (The Mrs is five months pregnant)...so I'm sure that's going to impact on my free time

          28. Been loving games since the regular Nintendo came out. Loved playing Mario Bros and Baseball Stars, and of course Techmo Bowl.

First time buyer of a 2K basketball game and I love it. 2K has always let me down with their baseball games, so buying an NBA game scared me a bit, but 2K kills Live.

I'll be gaming for a long time, I'd guess. My first kid (a boy) will be born in March so I'm just trying to get as much in as I can!

But I have to remember with fond memories the monstrosity that was Atari Basketball. It took a while to get up to Lakers vs Celtics. That was when I got hooked on B-ball games. From there it was Lakers vs. Bulls and then the USA basketball game. That game still holds a spot in my all time favorite sports games....

Funny thing is, I still have those old Colecovision/Atari 7800 systems. They're in my old room at my dad's house. Sometimes I'll play a few games of Zaxxon, Donkey Kong, Burger Time, etc. for old time's sake. I have those Super Action controllers, the tracball, and the steering wheel/accelerator for Turbo.

I had my Atari for about 18 years. I had my Genesis until about 2 years ago. Now I jusy buy the classic game collections and remind myself of how gaming used to be. Like new gaming a lot more. I miss my giant joystick controller for NES. Man, it was a must-have for Tecmo Bowl! Go Bo Jackson! Good times back then...

26 here. I have been playing since the Nintendo days. I hated double dribble though. Sega had some cool basketball games though, I think it was called Celtics vs. Lakers and then the Live games came out. I think it was Live 97 that I created Michael Jordan and we dominated the league. Rodman has the crazy yellow hair and everyone looked the same. I traded for Jason Kidd to be my PG and we had quite a season. I played Live all through PS1 and then I tried the NBA2K games on PS2. I was in love and I have never gone back.

Of course the graphics can't compare to today's, but the gameplay was solid. I can still play 'Pitfall' and not get bored. The classics never get old.

Activision was king of Atari. They made better games than Atari themselves. I used to play Activision Tennis for hours against friends. They ended up making this Olympic Decathalon game where you had to waggle the joystick back and forth to run, then you have to to press the button to jump. Really cool game for it's time. But the 1500 meter run was killer. I broke the plastic ring inside the controller doing that one. Funny, I just read that David Crane, the same guy who made Pitfall, did that one too!

Yeah, yeah, I broke a few controllers playing that sh**!

I have plenty of Activision games in my collection(River Raid, Robotank, Enduro). Imagic made great games too(Atlantis, Demon Attack). I'm getting the urge to play these now!

You should read what it was like to work at Activision back in the 80's. I heard it was pretty wild and saying it was a fun place to work is probably the understatement of all time.

oh and my mom worked in an arcade in 1976 when i was 6 years old so i'd go there after school and get endless tokens..that's where i first got into the video game thing. i still remember playing asteroids for hours at that place.
