IMO, to say something like this:

The end result is that you get a Kobe, or a Carmelo, or a Paul Pierce that attacks you the same way they would in real life. The way we had it set up before is we knew their ability and we knew what kind of shots they took in terms of they like to shoot mid-range or they like to shoot three pointers, but we didn’t know what type of shot they were actually taking. Do they shoot floaters? Do they shoot fade-aways? Do they shoot leaners? All these little things that end up being the personality of a player is now realized when you play our game.

And then not only is this NOT true in the final product, but no one on 2K's staff says as much as a single word about it despite complaints from the fanbase, and NONE of the patches fixes it is absolutely ridiculous and makes me loathe the fact that I spent 60 bucks on this game.

This is true, I mentioned this stuff to the 2KInsider on his blog to properly adjust player tendencies to reflect how often players shoot and play a certain way and he just won't do it. He will answer questions about headbands, socks and attributes boost, but if you ask him about tendencies he ignores it. I hate that everytime I download living rosters I have to do this myself for star players. Its a night and day difference how realistic and great the players play after these adjustements.

The patch looks decent enough, but for me (Association guy) there is nothing ground-breaking like the first patch. The only two things I wanted to see addressed were the ability to have real injuries turned on to start my Association (i.e. Yao out for the first year), and gameplay-wise, I feel as if a player's ratings should weigh heavier when determining whether or not a human controlled player makes a shot.

Still, I appreciate 2K STILL making improvements to an already great game.

Yes now I can start a association with the latest 2K rosters and not worry about injuries. Im glad 2K fix this issue.

This is true, I mentioned this stuff to the 2KInsider on his blog to properly adjust player tendencies to reflect how often players shoot and play a certain way and he just won't do it. He will answer questions about headbands, socks and attributes boost, but if you ask him about tendencies he ignores it. You just contradicted Ray, as apparently you can't get players to play like themselves with the current tendencies. Perhaps you can help him out.

you can and you can't. first of all, the official roster update's tendencies aren't really accurate or updated regularly or with a lot of scrutiny. thankfully, we have roster people on here that are well known for doing this sort of thing. but yeah, you can get players to play the way you want to some degree like shooting, driving to the basket and so forth, but at the same time, some things don't work as well or were hard coded into the game or glitches like players constantly passing out of the lane when driving even though you have their tendency set so they never should do this. looks like this is addressed though. it's just unfortunate that the official roster isn't as accurate and realistic as it was claimed to be. it takes a lot of time and effort to edit a roster without a global editor of some sort.

I don't think Ray is too far off here... some of those player tendencies just flat out don't work (leaners, fadeaways, etc.), and it's not outside the realm of possibility that a patch could have fixed that.

With that said, I'm not too torn up about it and this game will still be a blast to play, especially after this final patch.

"Shooting and driving" is the most basic level of offense there is in basketball. Once you get deeper than that, 2K becomes a laughable representation of NBA basketball as far as I can tell.

What you said and how you put it is completely different from what he posted. You can try and find similarities but ultimate the difference is so stark that had it been explained initially in that same way, I'm sure someone would say there is some merit there.

Instead, "these guys are just liars!"

Problem is I've been saying it forever and no one listens. I blame the fact that most people don't know much about NBA offenses other than "Kobe should shoot jumpers," "LeBron should drive," and "Dwight should dunk and get a lot of rebounds."

Actually, my only concern with the current game is the fact that interior passes are just too easy to make, regardless of the sliders. I have Hands lowered and Play Passing Lanes raised and all the CPU tendencies lowered, but on Superstar, the CPU just relies too much on cheesy interior cuts as opposed to strategic basketball. I always feel like they're only scoring via cheese.

Also, it's too easy for the user to make interior passes as well. I'm not talking about post up passes, I'm talking about cutters streaking down the lane unguarded. And yes, I have the slider for keeping the defense glued to you (forgot the name) increased as well. It's just too easy to make interior passes.

And that leads me to the last issue. Because of the aforementioned issues, you can't play on Superstar or Hall of Fame because it feels like the CPU is on constant cheese. And I can't play on anything lower than Superstar because . . . the CPU doesn't seem to have any urgency to score. On anything lower than Superstar, I never feel like I'm going to lose. The CPU plays more realistically on lower levels, but they play with a greater sense of urgency on higher levels. I wish there was a happy medium.

As for tendencies, I guess it would be nice to see Kobe taking more fade-aways and jumpers and Carmelo posting up more, but the superstar on the team is almost always the high scorer in my games, so I can tolerate that.

Looking at the list the only thing that bothering me right now. Was the passing fix mentioned.

If the defense was in position down court. A long pass usually ended up being either stolen or out of bound turnover. Now if the defense was sort of in position but you tried throwing a long pass with a big man (who usually have low passing ratings). It was usually a turnover 95% of the time. But finally long passes with no defense back were completed 100% of the time. Which I think it’s the way it should work. Maybe the only part I’m on edge on it’s the 100% completion rate. Maybe a long passes with no defense should be around 90%.
