I have played some on pro and some on allstar with slightly modified version of Pared's sliders. On pro I win pretty much every game I play, and fairly easily. But on all star I can't stop the other team on D with any consistency and I end up winning 50/50 but all the scores are 140-135 style, which I'm not real happy with. So i'm still tweaking and trying to find a happy medium. I'm using standard 2k rosters so maybe I'll try Nogster's rosters and the sliders that accompany them (lowered game speed, etc.) and see if that gives me more realistic scores.
I've also messed around with HOF and struggled to stop the other team. Again 130 points was the norm, while on offense I couldn't hit even the most open shot without raising the shooting sliders to 53/54ish on mid range and 3 pointers. My problem with HOF was that I didn't see smarter play from the CPU, just better shot making ability. On a higher level I'm looking for better plays, stronger screens, smarter passing, etc. Instead it seemed to me (and this was in limited exposure of about 5 games) that the main difference was that the CPU hit shots with guys draped all over them and you missed shots wide open. To me that's not really what a higher difficulty should do, and it certainly doesn't make for much of an enjoyable game experience. And worst of all, even on HOF I could still get to the paint way too easy. So in order to compete I found myself "cheesing" by doing nothing but attacking the rim with Stuckey and Bynum rather than playing any semblance of standard NBA offense.
