    Re: Please Sign for Authenticity

To me authenticity = all imaginable accesories & clothes, updates to player´s look when something is different; presence of all explayers, coaches, excoaches, assistants; staf movement (assitants promotions), an everything you see - everything you can edit approach, more editable options for created players and teams, inclussion of themes related to NBA, stadium atmosphera replica (sounds, lights, announcers, specific themes, dancers and mascots), big names data for commentators and announcers to say, improvement of commentary...

    A license worth nothing ...

2K3 was good, but as they went deeper with the ESPN license, they made 2K4. 2K5 was a fix for 2K4, you can't see 2K5 as a seperate game from 2K4 because if not for 2K4, 2K5 would have been so different and more like 2K3 (the last great 2K title before 2K4). 2K5 wasn't awful but it was no where near what 2K was starting to create before 2K4. 2K5's Isomotion was pretty horrible, the dunks were horrible, the layups were just ugly...the game had so many problems...! The moment the ESPN license died, came 2K6, which was awesome (for me) and brought to the world the new Shot Stick and the new Isomotion - both are still in the game.
Now try to do the math yourself, think of 2 other titles released recently (the past 2 years) with network license and tell me if these games are great or not.

Again, bad games have nothing to do with the presentation license they have. NFL 2k5 is one of the best football games ever made and it was all about ESPN. You can see 2k5 as a different title than 2k4 since they were not made by the same people. The ESPN license didn't make the game bad, whoever was running the development of 2k4 read the reviews talking about how complex 2k3 was and turned 2k4 into an arcade game. NFL 2k4 had the same license and focused on using the license but was a great game.

If I went any bigger, it would not have properly fit with my equipment, so I had to optimize. I'm okay with it, but I also know what I'm missing with those five inches. :)

I understand what you say, but...
Statisticly it's a FACT that BASKETBALL games with network license aren't great. Because that or not, doesn't matter. What matters is that this is what happends.
Network license is a BIG watse of money to me. I'm happy EA took over the ESPN license (though not using it all the way). 2K's been making games with GREAT presentation with NO network license. You get commentators, you create menus and morphs, who needs a network license?! Only to have the NBC/TNT/ESPN logo? Just get a sticker with ESPN on it and stick it on your screen...
Presentation is cool, but it NEVER makes a game better, no matter how well it's implemented. I should say that network logo doesn't make commentators better. Actually, in 2K4 and 2K5 the commentary team was pretty horrible. And don't forget that you must use the network commentators - as good or as bad they are - because it's a part of the deal. ESPN NFL was awesome. Would it be less great withouth the ESPN license? I'd say no, even though it was very cool to have the ESPN full license. And by the way, No other basketball game ever implemented network licese like it was implemented in NFL 2K5. Still it wouldn't make a basketball game better; Statisticly it made basketball games worse.

Now, 2K5 and 2K4. Compare 2K4 to 2K3 ---> it's like 2 different games that have nothing in common, except for the company who made them. 2K5 compared to 2K3 ---> pretty much nothing in common. 2K5 and 2K4 ---> a lot of similarities. 2K5 was what 2K had to do to fix 2K4 (though it wasn't enough for me). They even said they had fixed many issues from 2K4 (like the Isomotion, the offensive fouls, the post-up game that was completely missing from 2K4) - issues that NEVER been there before 2K4.

Remember Back to the Future 2, when Doc Brown explains Marty why they had returned to 1985 and everything was different? That's, to me, pretty much what happened with 2K5. 2K4 started something bad and was completely different from 2K3. So now 2K5 (present time, if we're still talking about BTTF2) has completely changed. 2K5 was all about fixing the horrible 2K4. It was better but no where near what 2K3 was, in my opinion.
It took 2K two years to fix the mess 2K4 made, and only in 2K6 it was fixed.

That's pretty much, the best way I can put it.

I would love it if 2k featured TNT in it. Keep harlan as commentator and
during the half time report play the TNT music theme and get EJ, kenny and
charles to say something about the stats ,players etc.
            Any one agree?

I don't give a damn if the TNT or NBC license is in the game but saying that 2k4 was bad simply because of the license is ridiculous. The presentation in the NBA 2k series has been horrible since the beginning and it only started to get better once the nfl2k series was ended and those guys started working on the NBA game, it had absolutely nothing to do with the license and it's crazy to me that you actually believe that having espn in the game is what made 2k4 into a bad game. Basketball games with a license have a bad track record because the teams that made them happened to be bad. The Sony NBA game was horrible long before it got the TNT license and Live hasn't been good for awhile. NBA 2k3 had the espn license, which should've made that game horrible according to you.

I still think that 2K2 was better than 2K3, but that's me. If a license makes a basketball game worse or not - doesn't even matter, statistically it's a fact.
Not gonna beat this dead horse anymore, but all I'm gonna say is that a network license is a waste of good money that can be put into other features. And I think we agree on that.

It's not a statistical fact at all.
