I think 2K would go with the simplest control scheme that they can so that everyone is satisfied. So with that being said, I think the control scheme would be Left Trigger + Right Stick = Dribbling. Right Trigger + Right Stick = Dunking. Right Stick (close to rim) = Layups and Right Stick = Shooting.

Re: Joystiq Preview
And what does me not using the shot stick have to do with why I'd not want "advanced" controls? I tried it, it seemed inaccurate to me and I scrapped using it. Its usually 50-50 on the board between folks who use it and don't use it. How is shot stick usage a measuring stick of ones ability to deal with "advanced" controls?Last edited by iLLmatic; 06-25-2010, 08:52 PM.Comment

Re: Joystiq Preview
I do think the shtot stick is the best thing that happened to the 2K series. But that's me.
Anyway, if both triggers already used, I wonder if we'll have auto post-up again...My Specs:

Re: Joystiq Preview
If you don't use the shot stick you cannot do drifters/leaners/runners/advanced post moves/adjusting shots in mid-air/specific layup packages(like Rondo's).
Although with the button you can do fadeaways. This is why I only use the button for spot up jumpers. Also for pumpfakes in the paint and the lean in the defender to draw a foul animation.
I also noticed using the shot stick in the paint area won't initiate heavy contact as much. Can anyone relate to this?Comment

Re: Joystiq Preview
If I'm using a post player, I still get contact with the stick, but to get away from those awkward layups/hookshots I just hold the stick away from the basket and he'll do a hookshot without all that crazy contact.Comment

Re: Joystiq Preview
Also when I use the stick away from the basket, they do this one handed quick flip shot.Comment

Re: NBA 2K11 Preview (Joystiq)
Don't start dude......................Please..EA and 2k have the unfortunate task of trying to balance on a tightrope of fun and sim while trying not to fall 10,000 feet to their death. Instead of a safety net waiting down below there will just be angry customers quick to move out of the way and talk of their failure.Comment

Re: NBA 2K11 Preview (Joystiq)
Guys trust me, the shot stick and the dribble, both on the right stick is not too complicated and not prone to accidents! How do I know? Because it's already in 2K10 as alternate C(or B I can't quite remember at the moment)! I play with it exclusively and I never make mistakes or forget to hold the trigger when I shoot the ball. Mind you, I mostly only use the shot stick for dunks and lay ups and generally use the buttons for regular shots. I suggest everyone try it out to kind of get a feel of how 2K11 might be. I feel like I have more control with isomotion on the right stick, it does still has its share of problems with control though so I'm glad they are reworking it to give us more control and also making it the default control scheme.Comment

Re: NBA 2K11 Preview (Joystiq)
IGN preview had dribbling with Left stick , sounds like familiar to me hmmmmmm. they are changing the game to much. We already have to hold triggers to do isomotion moves done we? Holding a trigger to do a simple jumpshot isnt very good. After all these years they are finally changing the way we play the game. I guess i will be spending more time in practice mode than normal. I feel bad for the casuals lololol Glad both games becoming more advanced instead of dumbed down for a 14 year old cheeser
.
i did like reading this though "there's even an in-air collision system now"Last edited by Teebone21; 06-26-2010, 02:15 AM.Comment
