While Larry dashed off to the locker room with 90% of the team, only McHale congratulated the Pistons. I'm cool with both ways of handling the loss. The Bad Boy Pistons gave a standing ovation to the Lakers and Jabbar in 89', because the Lakers had shown respect. The Bulls were whining, and speaking out against the Pistons personally in 91' when they did not know the Pistons as individuals, and so the Pistons showed no respect when they lost. Makes sense to me.

Isiah and Bill were not out there to make friends. They went out to win championships at any cost. And jerks or not, for a span of about 5 years they were arguably the best team in the NBA.
I loved the Bad Boys, but it can be so conflicting at times as a fan of Detroit sports in general. I see the hard fouls, the walking off the court against Chicago (though great point regarding the standing ovation against the Lakers), etc. I see that and I say, "Yeahhh! Awesome! Bad Boys! Sweet!"

But you know how I feel about the Colorado Avalanche? Dirty. No good. Rotten. Scumbags. Jerks. And I hate them for many of the same reasons I loved the Bad Boys. Of course, my reasoning usually comes down to, "Well, Bill Laimbeer never smashed John Paxson's face into the scorer's table thus resulting in John eating out of a straw for the whole summer of '91". But I mean. . .Dennis Rodman threw Scottie into the stands once (yielding a few stitches). And jerks or not, Claude Lemieux and the Av's were Stanley Cup champions. And that really grinds my gears. I guess that was the man above's way of forging compassion and understanding amongst all the former opponents of my Bad Boy's in the 80's.

    Anyway. . . Frank Brickowski!

And no, I don't think Kareem was in the game last year, though I remember a few guys creating players that looked virtually identical to the man himself. Kareem and Charles Barkley translated over real well into create-a-player land last year.

        Well said.

But you guys have to think about this for a moment. Isiah was barely 6'1" tall. And he had to fight, scrap and claw every inch to be the player that he was. This guy was all about winning. He wanted to beat you, and he would cut your balls off to do so. (Famous quote from Charles Barkley)

Then you have his number 2 guy, Laimbeer. And you look at his body of work through his career. A guy with such average athletic ability, but yet had all the intangibles you look for. Anyone who doubts his worth and ability need look no further than the 1990 finals against the Blazers. Where in game 3 he completely destroyed the entire Blazers team with his amazing BB IQ. (And that includes the flops, and elbows)

You think Laimbeer could have accomplished what he was able to do by being Mr. nice guy to opposing players and teams? I do not think so. He thrived off of negative energy from his opponents and the media. But he backed up his persona with championships and wins for his team.

I totally should have known this beforehand, but somehow I didn't know Bill Laimbeer was a four-time All-Star until a few months ago. Further, at one point he held the NBA record for most three pointers made in a single NBA Finals game.

And totaled the most defensive rebounds in a near 10 year span. Did you know that? Led the league in total rebounds twice as well, and could barley jump over a phone book.

Like Rodman said, every team had guys trying to be like Laimbeer, they just were not good enough.

Well, I can't vote in the US (or here for the next 3 years), but if I could he would have got my vote.
