People will still attempt to lead pass with the new total passing controls. It's a never ending battle.Comment

nope remember that they bobble the ball now on lead passes in paint where defenders are present. no more catching in stide very often and dunking. This isnt nba live the cpu will stay with them or pick it off like in every vid we have seen thus farComment

It is funny that Duhwight was cheesing IRL this post season. He did the 'ol rim-run so many times it was stupid."You make your name in the regular season, and your fame in the postseason." - Clyde Frazier

Re: NBA 2K11 Video: Denver at Orlando (8-24-10)
I played online once in the where you control one position and I remember killing with Pau Gasol in this fashion. Because I usually don't go online a lot, I thought I just happened to be having a really good game by running to the block each play. So, I apologize if anyone ran into a guy named Swove online that scored a ton with Pau just because he did this cheap move. I swear I thought I was just playing fundamental basketball!Comment

@3DuArD0242 I don't know what build that game was recorded on. I see some things in there that definitely point to an old build though.

Re: NBA 2K11 Gameplay Video: Denver Nuggets vs. Orlando Magic
This is why I'm going to save most gameplay gripes for when I've got the sticks in my hands. None, I reiterate, NONE of these videos mean jack spratt about how the game plays until I've gone hands-on with a demo, which should be a month away or so.
So, I'll just stick to what I liked.
Commentary is excellent. People might say they don't like Kellogg, but I'd rather have someone I don't like on the mic that has noticeable chemistry and realism reflected in their words than stale, disjointed banter like my favorite baseball game, which shall remain nameless.
The whole game just "looks" smooth and fluid. Not as much of those irritating hitching animations that drove me up the wall before.
Lots of nice lil' animations that really capture the sport well. Like a few pass gathers, the Chris Duhon pass he throws to VC. Melo's jumper(s) looked noice. I also liked that I only saw one all net jumper. I'll say one gripe and that's the Kenyon Martin reverse. Not because of the dunk, but because his feet slide during all the pump fakes. I hate seeing people get away with that IRL. Video games are no different.
OH. And I love seeing triple threat have some real explosion on it and lol'd at JR Smith chucking. A shame they weren't all 3s though.
A little disappointed that some player's heads don't look too changed. VC's head still looks like a very minor bad guy from Venture Bros (he was pink with diode things on his oversized coconut). And Melo seemed to still bear the striking resemblance to the father from Bebe's Kids.
Still, easily tolerated with his new jumper.
I wished I could've seen more L2/left trigger dribble outs. I liked the few that I saw though. I also liked the way Dwight Howard talked to Bass after the sub. And I think ditching Cheryl Miller was a brilliant move. Everything, and I mean EVERYTHING, she said before sounded like separate words chopped together, like someone was playing some kinda audio version of Mad Libs. Except the blanks got overused.
"Thanks __guys__, I talked to __the head coach__ and __he__ said that they need to shoot more __3s__. And now back to the __play by__ play."Comment

How can some of you guys be so overly critical on a gameplay vid from a build which is not final and still shows enough improvements over 2K10.
Really like what I see, game looks a lot more polished and from this 6 minutes I start to believe that adjusting sliders will not be needed (so much) anymore. Maybe foul sliders can still be upped, but have to see that when we get some full games in..
Presentation looks top notch. Hope we will still see enough stat overlays during the game.Last edited by PuntNL; 08-25-2010, 02:02 AM.Comment

Re: NBA 2K11 Gameplay Video: Denver Nuggets vs. Orlando Magic
After watching that video, I have to say that I can totally understand why a few folks were up in arms about a couple of things. But when those issues stood out to me, I took the time try to figure out how I could point out those issues in a way that would help 2K to address for, maybe, a patch. But something happened, I saw potential reasons WHY these things were happening.
1. The over abundance of overhead passes. Saw them more earlier in the video than later. Once you get past the disappointment of seeing them, you start to question: why? Did he really have to throw THAT pass. As I look at those passes, I noticed that most of them came from the player throwing to a guy that was past a crowd of other players. There was no lane to throw a bounce pass or a wrap. In almost every case, I have to say that the pass was appropriate as another player (teammate or foe) was directly between the passer and his intended target. So what then? There's nothing you can do about the human controlled player. He's going to pass where he wants to pass. But the AI is a different story. Because the passes were appropriate, maybe VC should looking into WHY some of those passes were made. Were those passes smart for those situations? Were there better options? The user had a bunch but the AI made a few of those passes as well...
2. AI help versus user help. Starting at 3:54, Vince Carter takes the unabated dribble down the lane for an easy slam. It was like the red sea parted. I looked again and I saw that the user forced a switch by roaming (actually, just stood there). Swapped to Nene on the point and tried to stay with VC as he cut to basket. Nice bounce feed from the point (not an overhead pass btw), but no one comes over to help. Why? Well, one player is guarding Howard in the post and the other guy (Billups), was up high, recovering to the passer. Help's not coming from there. The 2 players on the help side are the only options now. One was on the wing, he was too high and in no position to help. The help SHOULD have come from the corner (KMart). But, guess what? He was guarding Lewis. And he was tight on Lewis as if he were denying. Could it be possible that he was setup to NOT leave the shooter? As I look at the rest of the period, help comes just fine. It was just that one case that "failed" IF it was a failure at all. I think it's something the devs should look at. But if that is by design, then it points to an ability for us to have a player never leave his assignment. That is a "feature" MANY people have been wanting in the game for a while, if I'm not mistaken.Comment
