Classic Team DLC?

    Sup Forum,

What would you guys think about 2K releasing some classic squads as future DLC?

    Would you buy it?

    Who'd be your top teams?

    My Top Five

    1. 1985 Los Angeles Lakers

Epitome of Run and Gun, Showtime Squad. In 19 playoff games, averaged a whopping 126.5 ppg. Featuring 4 HOF's in Abdul-Jabbar, Johnson, Worthy and McAdoo. One of the most physical NBA finals ever against Boston's hardnosed, half-court squad of Bird, McHale, Parrish and Johnson.

    2. 1993 New York Knicks

Won 60 games (one of two times in franchise history, last time 1970), #1 Defense in the League, Lost in the Eastern Conference finals, One of the most heated playoff series vs. the Bulls, . Featuring Ewing, Starks, Davis, Oakley, Smith and Rivers

    3. 1995 Houston Rockets

Would love to see the '95 Bulls matchup against Drexler, Olajuwan, Cassell, Mad Max and the rest of this crew. Back-2-Back NBA Champions.

    4. 1993 Phoenix Suns

Jordan's "11" greatest moment; dropping 55 like it was '85 in Game 6; Barkley, Johnson, Majerle, a great high scoring squad, "Paxson for the win..."

    5. 2001 Los Angeles Lakers

Dominating run through the playoffs, losing only one game. How would the Bulls lauded defense handle one of the most dominating centers of all-time? Could Kobe give His Airness a run for his money?

    *Personal Selection*

    1995 Orlando Magic

Penny to Shaq? Lil' Penny? Who wouldn't...

Ronnie actually stated on the Playstation blog he hosted the other day that while it's a possibility, he is not sure what they will do at this point. This would be sick though.

I had the same thoughts. 2K would make a whole lot of money with classic teams for DLC. And I think they have the same in mind

        I would like to see:

        1993/94 Charlotte Hornets

        With LJ and Alonzo

        1997/98 Miami Heat

        With Timmy and Alonzo
Machine is no joke. Clutch like Kobe. I tell Kobe, but Kobe ignore!

I'd love this, but I'm not holding my breath for it. DLC was a possibility and would have been practical for All Pro Football but they never did it. I doubt they do it for 2K11.

Thanks to the NBA license, I think 2K11 would be more likely to promote Classic DLC. What will be the biggest hurdle is if the general gaming public would actually buy it.

I'd probably either release it on a team-by-team basis, starting with the most current, like 2000 lakers, and work my way back, reeling in the younger crowd.

Or, even better, release Official Player DNA and add beef up the Create a Team feature and allow copying of players, jerseys, logos, stadium's etc.

With the classic teams already in the game, it shouldn't be too difficult to create some awesome classic squads ala portlandblazer's 360 rosters...

^^^True, but what the line they draw between releasing all this DLC for 2K11 as opposed to focusing on locking these teams down for 2K12? We'll see though. I want it as much as you do I'm sure.

Penny and Shaq would be my favorite team by far.

Maybe a Bucks Ray Allen team.

                      Re: Classic Team DLC?

I think for the Classic Team DLC, it should only be teams that were around when Jordan was or when he was retired for that short time. With that in mind, I like a lot of the OP's teams, except the 1993 Knicks are basically the same as the Knicks in the game. My 5 would be:

                      1. 1993 Phoenix Suns

Like mentioned, his game against the Suns is probably right up there in the top moments. Also, would love to play with Kevin Johnson and Barkley.

                      2. 1995 Houston Rockets

If you have the ability to do the "Dream Shake" in the game, why not have "The Dream" to do it. Back to back champs in Jordan's year gone and his first year back, would be nice to go up against them. Add in an older Clyde Drexler, young versions of Horry and Cassel, Mario Elie (The Big Shot Bob of his time), sharpshooter Kenny Smith, and the bangers in Otis Thorpe and Carl Herrera. Great all around team

                      3. 1995 Orlando Magic

Give us a chance to get past that embarassment of a series with Jordan just coming back. Would LOVE playing with Penny (one of my fave all time players) and a young Shaq. Hopefully Nick Anderson won't blow any free throws.

                      4. 93-94 Golden State Warriors or 94-95 Golden State Warriors

93-94 gives us a playoff bound Warriors team with young Sprewell, Mullin, and a rookie Webber. While the 94-95 team went 26-56, it would be a fun team to play with with Hardaway, Sprewell, Mullin, Manute Bol, Rony Seikaly.

                      5. 92-93 Charlotte Hornets

Mugsy, a young Grandmama, and a young Mourning. Add in tough J.R. Reid, athlete Kendall Gill, and sharpshooter Dell Curry and you got a fun team to play with

                      Honorable Mention

                      6. 94-95 Indiana Pacers

I put them as honorable mention because Reggie Miller isn't a part of the Players Association anymore (he isn't in the NBA Jam because of this), so I don't know if 2K could figure it out. Having him, Mark Jackson, Rik Smits, and Dale Davis would be a tough, gritty team to play against.

                      7. 93-94 Denver Nuggets

Mutombo with his finger wagging in the game, LaPhonso Ellis, Robert Pack, and Mahmoud Abdul-Rauf would be another fun team to run with. Ellis and Pack were high-flying extraordinaires

How about the Sixers 01 Sqaud?...I would love to play with that A.I as well as E. Snow, A.McKie, Raja Bell,D. Mumotobo, T. Hill,. Or That Lakers 01 team from that year.

Or how about the Kings 02? Man that would be funny up and down basketball. I remember Vlad and Webber use to push the ball on the break. LMAO

I know some of the teams I put in weren't that great of teams, but I would have a blast running with the "Killer Crossover" Hardaway, Sprewell, and Mullin. Would have been sick if Golden State had held onto Webber for that 2nd year
