Re: I'm new to 2K...The Best Camera Angle?

I use 'press', but '2k' is the most intuitive when it comes to dribbling. Most all of the high ranked users online in previous 2k games use the 2k cam and Alternate-A control settings. The 2k cam allows users to see the passing lanes better and get easy steals that are hard in broadcast view.

If you are having problems with the isomotion I'm guessing they will have alternate control settings that will help you a lot with the basic moves. For that reason most people in ranked games use an alternate control setting.

The game looks beautiful with the 'Press' cam and I like the perspective so that's why I use it.

I heard there will be 'absolute' controls for offense this year, but even with that it will still be harder to use isomotion on all parts of the court in a side-view camera.

Blegh, vertical cams all the way for me...
My thoughts exactly, but I think I'll be able to manage. If you constantly keep in mind which hand the ball is in then it will be natural.

2K Cam since Day 1. Gotta be able to see the whole floor, passing angles, driving lanes, etc.

Forget that broadcast stuff, I want to feel like I'm on the floor - not watching a game. Though I do mix it up and play from broadcast every now and again to keep the game fresh. Only for a game or two and then it's back to 2K.

Re: I'm new to 2K...The Best Camera Angle?

I feel like those who use broadcast cam never really played basketball, and are used to watching basketball. So their perspective is used to that angle when basketball is being played.

But to hear people call it corney and cheesing, that's so ignorant to even think that.

I play real basketball daily, I'm sure there's many people on this board that do the same. The 2K Cam is the closest thing we have to our perspective of basketball. Walking the ball up court, and analyzing the defense will never be east to west. You'll never have the amount of detail from that angle to completely see the floor the way you should to run your offense.

              Just my opinion.

I feel the same way but that will piss off a lot of broadcast-cam users lol. These are video games and a lot of people want a visually pleasing experience way more than they care to admit. I think that's why so many people use broadcast cam - there's no doubt it looks better than the 2K Cam - but it doesn't replicate being on the court at all.

Hell just look at the other game, their first few vids were from the 2K Cam (well, their equivalent) and everyone bashed the game. Then a few broadcast cam vids came out and people were much more pleased.

Been playing real life basketball before there were ANY basketball videogames back when atari had the 2 players that looked like 2 chairs moving around. I just always hated that 2k cam and especially when it had that thing where the whole screen spins around...just horrible. Has absolutely nothing to do with playing ball in real life that the lamest reason ive heard

I normally use Broadcast (Zoom 1, Height 10, Key Zoom off) but I would venture over to the 2k Cam if they gave us the option to zoom it out a bit more and polished it up. The camera flips could be a whole lot smoother.

I agree with this 100%. I can't really even feel the demo like I want cuz it's on broadcast view. All the moves are ********. In real life if you are crossing from left to right. It's actually left to right and the up and down cams represents true movement on the controller (just like in real life). I'm used to broadcast, but I hate playing on it.

On broadcast if you are crossing over from left to right, it's actually up or down. Totally backwards!!! LOL. Also the 2k cam allows you to see angles and the position of your teammates better. (just like real life). And I'm surprised so many cats hate the up and down cams. The 1st time I was introduced to the up and down cam was in the 1st 2k on dreamcast and I haven't looked back. I can't play any other way and fully enjoy my gaming experience.

I think a lot of people who knock the up and down cams are primarily online gamers. I could be wrong, but when you hear cheese in regards to a camera angle it has to be an online thing. I hate playing online and I always play realistic.

I think its absolutely rediculous to ever accuse someone of cheese due to a camera view. You are still playing the exact same game. Its not like if you use 2k cam your players are better. I like the handle a lot better w/ 2K cam and I don't mind the screen flip. Like I said earlier Gameplay > Graphics

Back in when I use to go to the 2k forums. And these kind of thread came up. I always asked the question "What are the positives and negatives between both 2k and Broadcast that benefited the user performance?"

Especially when it comes to users who are new to the game (like the OP). 2k camera is a lot more easier to understand tactics and controls.

Broadcast is Awesome for presentation. If you want to feel like you are watching an NBA game. Broadcast is the way to go

I'll quote a very famous guy around here. "Don't play video games...Play Basketball" lol

edit: Also as I have mentioned before to call the 2k camera a cheese... It just shows all the improvement they have made in the long passing game go right over your head...
