    Re: NBA 2K11 Isomotion/Shot Stick Help (360)

I ran a quick search and didn't see anything.

I've been so busy that I haven't been able to play 2K very much. Probably about 6-8 games. But last night, I realized that on lay ups and dunks, the shot stick was different. It was no longer in relation to the players position on the floor, but instead was a static direction.

For example, if I hit R2+Up on the right stick, I got the normal dunk NO MATTER WHAT. Even if I drove from the top of the screen, which would mean Up on the stick would be going away from the goal, instead of the spin dunk I got the normal dunk. And vice versa, if I hit R2+Down on the stick, I got the spin dunk EVERY TIME, regardless of what direction my player was coming from. Left and Right were also static like this.

Since I haven't played a lot I thought maybe the game has always been like this and since I was still learning the controls I just didn't really notice, but I could have sworn it wasn't like this the first night. And I don't think I changed any settings. Even the Isomotion instructions tell you to press the stick "toward," or "away" from the basket, not to hit "Up," or "Down" on the stick to pull off a certain shot. Has anyone else seen this?

BTW, I guess I should mention that I'm playing with the Broadcast camera. Also, this wasn't a one time thing. It happened in practice mode and two games. I even restarted the game before playing the second game ... no difference.

Disregard this. I found out what happened. Somehow, the shot stick was changed from "camera relative" to "absolute" in the options. I don't remember doing this, but it's fixed now either way. That's actually a really nice addition. I just didn't realize you could do it.

I tried the camera absolute for 2k11 on broadcast and just can't do it. I'm use to the camera relative from the previous 2k games and I can't break the habit, but with the broadcast camera and the camera relative option I ignore some moves which minimizes my offensive arsenal. A lot more going on in this years 2k and its easier executing the moves on 2k camera.

Although I do the euro-step lay-up way too much because I forget to take my finger off of LT button. I can be on an open break and I still do it.

That might be the part I really hate about these new controls. I know people will throw a hissie fit when I say this. But I think its almost too much control. Last year I loved seeing the Euro from certain player (Tyreke and Manu to name a few). But now this year. Everyone can do it...SMH. Thats kind of stupid if you ask me. I know a lot of people are having problems with the spin dunk. I don't have a problem with it. I have a problem with who is able to do it. I have a on going list of players I've never seen do it in really doing it in the game.

Lastly the worst part I hate about the the new controls....is the hop step dunk/layup. If your on a fastbreak with no one near you. If press the stick in the wrong direction. He will do a hop for a dunk/layup. It looks really stupid. No one does that.

They did make it too easy, I can't even do a highlight of one because its so easy to pull off.

The majority of my lay-ups are the euro-step one and the majority of my dunks are the hop step dunk.

tap the right stick to the left and right quickly, then go into the jumper.

I don't think you need to hold LT/L2, but you might.

Actually, I love that you can do the eurostep on command. It's fantastic to use on the break, and makes getting to the cup a bit easier. I find that players will drive more using this move than when I use the "basic" layup. It's also a slow developing move, so it gives you time to pass out if the help D cuts you off. Though you are right, not everyone should be doing it.

Thats has to be boring...When a guy goes on a break away. He goes straight in for the slam. Not hop step bounce around then dunk.

Moves like those should not be on command. Especially for all players. I'm Kobe doesn't Euro Step as much as Tyreke (he does this at least twice a game). 2k isn't going to be able to fix it this year. All they can do is make the animation like the other Euro step. The Spin and Hop animations need to be tweaked for more contact. I hate watching someone hop step into the lane. And I can't strip them.

I've never had such a hard time scoring in a 2k basketball game.

I can't even get my guy to post anyone up in the paint. I guess I'll read the 30 pages here and try to figure something out. I just want to back my guy down and try to spin off and take it to the rim or get the clean fade-away. I can't seem to find any rhythm whatsoever with this game. ugh.

If I do it left and quick right, he does a shimmy left and straight after he shoots - he doesnt do shimmy right :/

                              Ok let me explain....

                              Double shimmy

double shimmy left - flick shotstick to the left twice.
double shimmy right - flick shotstick to the right twice.

I like to call them one side shimmy or one side fakes.
                              REMEMBER....DO NOT PRESS L2

fake left to shot over right shoulder - flick left then Hold to the right
fake right to shot over left shoulder -flick right then Hold to the left

Its pretty easy once you get the hang out it.
