Re: Your Myplayer Career (NBA 2K11)

As for my player this year, I went with creating myself this year (last year I created a rookie I had drafted in my association in 2k9). I'm trying to create myself with a realistic skill set at least to begin with. I had to add 2 inches though so I'm a 6'4" Slashing SG.

First skill set I focused on was perimeter defense. Eventually I want to work on Handles, passing, mid range and post game. Far down the line I'll develop more 3 point range and other fluffy stuff but so far so good.

I managed to get drafted 30th by the Wizards and right now I'm getting only a few min a game, I'm totally cool with that. The player movement is so much better than last year, I definitely like.

This year on My Player I'm running with an athletic 6'9", 235 SF. I want him to be a cross between Durant and Melo. I averaged about 14 pts & 11 boards in the draft combine & summer circuit. I got drafted Round 1, Pick 24 to the Hawks and I'm about 11 games in.

I gained a spot in the starting line-up and I'm getting ~30 mins a game now. Surprisingly I thought they would move Jamal Crawford to the 1 and Joe Johnson to the 2 but for some reason Joe plays PG & Crawford the 2.

I average 18ppg and 5.8rpg now. I'm lights out at mid-range and I'm trying to build up my ball handling and rebounding before I start working on my dunking and post game.

Just had my first game in the NBA.

        14 minutes, 6pts 4ast 1reb.

Only 1000 SP, so I'm kinda disappointed.

I'm not sure if I should request a trade to somewhere where I can get more minutes. I'm the 7th man on the Hornets, behind CP3 and Thorton, so there's not a whole ton of minutes available.

Lol it's one game man, did you expect to start over CP3 and Thorton right of the bat?

All I'm thinking is, it sure would be a lot easier to take Mike Conley's starting spot than Chris Paul's =P

I'll probably stick around though. They've already bumped my minutes up a little, I should be able to get sixth man pretty soon.

I quit & saved during an NBA game. I got home today & it would not load. I really don't want to start over. I guess I should have made a back up save just in case something like this happened. I've checked around on the net and apparently others have had problems loading their my player after saving mid game.

I'm playing as a 6'11", 230 lb? All-Around Center. I was trying to be the hero in the first Combine game so that didn't work out too well for me, but in the last two I just played the role of the scrappy, all-around hustler (which is what I originally wanted to do in the first place) and got the job done for my team. I'm having a hard time playing the low post, more on offense than defense, but this is my first NBA game since like '07.

I was projected to go Round 1 Pick 28 to the Grizzlies, but ended up going a pick earlier to the Nets. That's cool with me, but I'd eventually like to end up playing for the Bulls.

Re: Your Myplayer Career (NBA 2K11)

Man this mode is horrible, IMO. It really sucks that they force you to play the meaningless/boring pre-draft and summer circuit games. It's repetitive as hell, and the fact that they FORCE YOU to start off as a 38 overall and it's almost impossible to move up quickly is ridiculous.... there should be an easier way into the NBA for those that only want to experience NBA action. For all, this is a video game.

I don't have the patience to play through 10+ scrimmages, 10+ drills that are unrealistic because the players you're going up against are twice as good as your player, etc. The score system isn't even accurate. How do I drop an entire letter grade as a PG for the opposing team's SF getting out on the break and scoring? I'm not to be held accountable for that just because I'm the furthest up the floor, especially if he catches the outlet pass way ahead of me....

I was really looking forward to My Player this year. Didn't care too much for it last year (got bored within the first hour), but the press conferences and stuff like that look fun. Guess I won't be experiencing that aspect of the game though, because as I said, I can't make it through the boredom.

I give you guys credit for making it through this mode. Nothing but frustration on my end.

If you dont want to actually work your way up in My Player, why not just play NBA games with a custom player?

Sounds like you just want to play NBA games and start.

This happened to me the first go around as well after making it to my rookie season, and it's exactly why I don't have it in me to go through all the boring drills and scrimmages again.

Guess I'll have to stick to Association + Jordan Challenges.

Really, though, there should be a much easier way for those who only want to experience the NBA lifestyle.

I wanted the career experience. Loved the addition of press conferences and other things.

It's all good though. I'm going to take my talents back to association mode.

I got injured in each of my first 2 nba games. Then on my third, we (Memphis) let Lakers come back and beat us.
It seems like everyone is a ball hog. I know Im not going to get the ball much, but some players take bad shots and don't pass to other teammates besides centers.
But is still very fun though.

@Fresh Prince: I hate the whole fast-break thing too. I'm 20 feet away and their shooting guard scores and then I see "Allowed Man to Score". I rack up at least 4 undeserved ones a game, which always drop my defensive rating.

Though, if you want a My Player-ish experience, without all the slow progress, why not do Jordan's Creating a Legend? With the 10k starting points, he starts out at like 81-82 overall, and iirc, there's no summer circuit.
