Re: NBA 2K11 Developer Insights: Association

One more chime in from me.

I read somewhere that coaches influence what type of style the team runs. So does this mean that coaches now bring their playbooks and such to other teams? Effectively changing the style and tempo of one team to fit their style?

Could this mean realistic coach movements? Could we see a team like The Spurs, once Popovich moves on, and they're taken over by a coach who loves to run, have the whole landscape of their franchise turned around by being filled with guys who can get up and down the court and not play much defense?

True team identities based on coach philosophies... Brilliant if true.

The Association is pretty much all I play unless I'm playing friends online. All of these new features seem refreshing and welcomed. I can't wait to dive into this game. One thing that wan't talked about in the insight though is summer league for association. I hope they have this. That, for me would bring another level of emersion. I'm taking 3 classes this semester and they are all cake (easy) classes so I will have plenty of time to get into this game.

Of the features he mentioned, easily my favs are the player/trade finder. Last year I ran with the Hornets and dumped every one not named chris paul. My roster had Hasheem Thabeet, Jason Thompson, Terrance Williams, JJ Redick, CP3 starting and bench was Gerald Green (6th Man), Peja, D'andre Jordan, Darron Collison, Jared Jeffries, Javaris Crittenton & D. Mcguirre. This team was rated like 71 overall, but man our chemistry was 95 after 2 months because we'd win close games and go on nice lil win streaks. I finished the season with them 50-32 and we lost in the first round to Dallas (that dang JET was a beast).

I say all of that to say that getting those trades done was not easy. Now with these new features, I can burn up the headlines with player movement to acquire younf talent in hopes of building a perennial dynasty for years to come.

Why does it feel like I'm the only one who cares that all teams made it in? Having all of the NBA's current 27 teams is vital from an authenticity standpoint.

You cant say that you're the NBA's best "sim" if you don't even have every team.

If 2K11 doesnt have all the current teams, I'm going to buy the comp's product as its been confirmed that they have included all 27 teams. Maybe 2K could patch the rest in after release if they all arent there to begin with.

But don't worry guys. I'm on it. I asked it in the QA thread if all 27 of the NBA's current teams are in. No worries.

I hope there is some mention of it in the next insight. Its just such a huge omission. i mean truthfully you dont even have to implement a full blown association mode online, Just give us player development and progressive leagues. smh, the game looks great this year but after playing two years now in Madden's online franchise mode and NCAA's Online Dynasty mode, its really hard to go back to just regular one and done leagues :-/

Im not trying to hate or be one of those peoples that are never satisfied, they did great work on the game...but honestly this was just the biggest deal for me and it seems to not have been improved :-/
You make it seam like thats a deal breaker, "severely disappointed" seems like you were expecting it over all the other stuff added. As difficult it is for ea to have online Franchise/dynasty modes you have to look at the bare bones experience you get,(as well as only 14,19 games in each season). All those games have is play, trade, recruit/draft, sign, rinse and repeat. A complex franchise mode like 2k it would be extremely difficult and resource consuming to put that in, especially considering everything they've done this year. "Seriously disappointed" lol. I'll be waiting for someone to say that the sock glitch is a dealbreaker now!

Okay this almost HAS to be a joke right now, but, the NBA has 30 teams, and yes all 30 are included in the game.

Although, just in case you're not joking, I even found a list for you of all current teams in the NBA, which once again, are in the game..

Maybe he isn't counting the T'Wolves, Nets, and Lakers.

It was a bad attempt at a joke. I found it amusing though for the short time it lasted though.

"There are 30 teams in the NBA. What the hell is this TMagic guy talking about?"

I think Online franchise is a valid dealbreaker for some people. Some people love to play online so i can understand that.

With 2k though...they need to stablize the online area of their game before we start worrying about adding online franchise. Make sure the online modes actually work...

But enough about that, I still can't believe all they are adding this year and all the extra attention to Association...wow... Oct.5 cannot come fast enough, even with Halo:Reach.

Hopefully with all these AI/Logic changes it makes it that much harder and challenging to build a great team.
